Anime was a mistake.

Third-party support would be appreciated for Wii U, that can't be denied, but please stop using the Dreamcast argument because they are two very different financial situations.

As much as everyone hates to admit it, the Wii was a big money maker. Sega had a slew of failed consoles before the Dreamcast like the 32X, Neptune and Saturn; it was their last stand. You can't compare Sega's three-console-losing streak to Nintendo's one-console-ace-in-the-hole.

EA released inferior ports of Madden and Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U while the current-gen systems were getting fresh fully-featured versions from EA months before.

Yeah, Nintendo ruined everything.

While I can understand the criticism of there being very little use of the Gamepad's unique functionalities with this game, comparing it to Galaxy seems hypocritical. Did Galaxy use motion controls much at all? Yeah, the pointer could be used and shaking the Wiimote to spin in mid-air was there, but aside from a few challenges that used motion controls, Galaxy's most defining feature was that it was just really, REALLY well-designed.

Like I said, I understand the feel...

Nah, I'm having crazy fun with Resogun and Killzone. I don't expect everyone to like every launch game, regardless of the system, but they shouldn't distract you from the games that are a blast to play.

Also, to the guy who wrote the headline: I can't say that you're good with the subtlety.

I have a feeling that this will eventually come stateside, but I think sales in Japan will have an effect on Sony's decision to bring it overseas or not.

Hopefully they turn out to be good, because this is an appealing device, all things considered.

Wow, it's really been a whole year? Time sure flies. These anniversaries always seem to catch me by surprise.

Nah, I don't see that. It doesn't seem rooted in mythology like God of War is (more a historical lens) and the gameplay doesn't look as free-flowing as in God of War either.

I dunno, that seems pretty generous.

Previews of a near-completed version of Ryse have been critical of the gameplay and technical fidelity alike. I'm sure there will be some folks who love the hell out of it, but I don't expect that high of an average rating for it. Maybe a 6.0, give or take.

I doubt it'll happen, but a cheaper version of the Xbox One that doesn't come with a Kinect.

It's the gamble of being an early adopter, but yes, as you and jay27woods said, no console launch is flawless, especially on a technical level. The "reports" will always be skewed by fanboyish opinions, especially when two new consoles release a week or so apart. I expect the Xbox One launch to suffer from similar "reports" as the PS4 launch did, ones that are blown out of proportion by users and commentators alike.

I don't think the fanboyish opin...

It's extremely easy to completely ruin the validity of your argument when you bring up the "Nintendo games are for children" card, man...

Sorry, Larry: I'd rather play Wind Waker HD on my Wii U Gamepad or Killzone: Shadow Fall on my Vita than use my tablet as a glorified remote control.

I really don't think there's much to worry about. Sony and the PS4 will do just fine.

Nintendo letting another studio in on developing a Zelda game? That hasn't happened in a long time, not since Minish Cap if I'm not mistaken. I guess this is a small move forward toward ultimately getting a Retro Studios-developed Zelda game. Baby steps, I suppose.

Either way, great work, Monolith Soft. Keep it up.

Definitely one of PBG's best videos.

This is not exclusive to Nintendo fans; a vast majority of the gaming public is guilty of this. Anyone who will support a console to the bitter end is praying its competitors will fail. It's not uncommon to see this at all.

It's so sad that this happens because it makes the entire gaming public look like a bunch of irrational sub-humans. If you like a certain console over another, that's fine, but saying that you want another console to fail isn't just selfish...

I believe that Metacritic's aggregation of many review scores, each with differing scales and score criteria, and compilation of said score into a single number has led to the downfall of reviews. It has skewed opinions and has inaccurately labeled a game's quality with a number and nothing else.

No one reads reviews anymore. It's all about the score.

If hardware specifications had anything to do with the quality of a game, no one would be playing Tetris today. Hell, retro consoles would be absolutely worthless.

Yes, improved tech can contribute to a bigger world, less load times or better graphics (if that's your thing), but it doesn't matter how pretty a game looks if it's not any fun to play.

Good hardware means nothing if the games on it are garbage.

I don't care if you're a fan of the Xbox One or not; this is a pretty pathetic excuse for an article.

But you CAN experience those kinds of games on your console. A lot of mobile games have inexpensive downloadable versions for consoles or dedicated handhelds and usually with more or better content. A good online infrastructure suited primarily for gaming is also hard to find on a phone or tablet.

Also, even if tablets and smartphones reach the technical height of dedicated consoles, I'd rather be able to play those games on a big HDTV instead of a tiny mobile screen.
