Championship Edition DX was crazy fun, dude.
I tried the original Avermedia Game Capture HD and it was okay since it didn't require a PC connection through USB to work. Once I got a better desktop, the Elgato replaced the Avermedia.
For someone who just wants to capture footage for making gaming videos, Elgato is perfect. I'm not a big livestreaming enthusiast, so I don't value Twitch functionality as much as, say, the Planetside 2 player you mentioned. I've heard internal capture cards are worthwhile, b...
Avermedia products have been okay substitutes for the higher level capture devices. They have a lot of technical bugs, though: firmware updates have bricked devices and even just getting the device to read an external drive is a gamble, since not all hard drives are compatible with their products. The inability to transfer data from the device's internal drive to a PC seems like a major issue.
It's good to see some progression from Avermedia, but I can't see this ...
Tretton's right. Consoles will be around for a good while. I can't imagine playing a game like Uncharted 3 on a tablet and I don't expect to anytime soon.
Besides, didn't the "analysts" say that last generation would be the last console generation?
I really didn't expect IGN to give this game such a high score, though.
Oh well. Still excited to play it.
Yeah, annual releases can really damage a series. Look at Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk; Activision already murdered them, so I think Call of Duty is the next in line to be retired.
I hope Titanfall shoves Call of Duty out of the spotlight. It would be irony incarnate.
That's pretty damn impressive considering the internet conditions. Being able to stream PS4 games to a handheld is a very compelling reason to buy a Vita.
The consoles have a long ways to go before catching up to Steam's current indie game cavalcade, but the indie games that have been exclusive to certain consoles (like Journey for PSN and The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile for XBLA) were the ones that stood out immensely and turned out to be really fun too.
There's a lot of promise for indie games' future, whether on consoles or PC.
I'm curious if this means Rosalina will get more spotlight in future Mario games. She kind of disappeared between Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2; kind of shocked she's back, but still pleasantly surprised.
What an insightful comment about Super Mario 3D World's fifth playable character.
I was wondering why the original F.E.A.R. wasn't included, but F.E.A.R. 2 and 3 were. Now the entire trilogy is available! Good times.
Yeah, you're right about the "more time" argument. It would definitely take more time and money to accomplish, which isn't easy to do in this age of online immediacy.
I still think it's the more honest and credible review style, even if it's extremely rare to see nowadays. Nintendo Power even had that section in the back that showed each staff member's favorite and least favorite genres. You could get to know the reviewer better, so you could get...
Short length is a problem for a $15 DLC pack, but I liked Bioshock Infinite a lot. Still not sure if I'll put down the funds for Burial at Sea, though.
I miss when Nintendo Power and older websites had multiple reviewers give a score and their opinion supporting it. You got a lot of diverse opinions, so the criticisms had more merit.
Now the entire site is represented by a single score, which kind of invalidates the views of other staff members who might not agree with it.
Memories...
Yeah, I think it would be better to review a multiplayer game when the entire community is able to access it. I don't expect any post-launch online game to have a network as smooth and user-friendly as a pre-launch game.
Honestly, I didn't expect the game to get glowing reception on the level of Spyro or Jak and Daxter, but wow. I did not expect Joystiq to give that verdict.
"Son, you're teasing the gorilla in the monkey house."
That's really the reason anyone should buy a certain console over another. You buy it for the things you can't get on other systems, whether it's software, hardware or services.
A botched frame rate can ruin a game more than bad resolution ever could.
@lawgone
It's Rubber Johnny, of course. I feel a little silly answering this question considering my own current avatar.
