Anime was a mistake.

Hopefully this milestone will encourage the developers to bring this over to consoles and handhelds sooner than later. That Vita version sounds heavenly right now.

It's headlines like this that result in absurdly pointless arguments in the submissions' comments sections, arguments that have been thrown around over and over in any sort of article concerning the 3DS or Vita.

We'll see the main courses from both companies once E3 arrives. Nintendo just offered a hearty appetizer.

"we get a bunch of names of people doing great work in game journalism"

And who decides who performs "great work in game journalism", Mr. Jaffe? You?

Okay, we get it. Game journalism is absurdly biased, but guess what? Every news story in history is biased. EVERY SINGLE ONE. What is reported is filtered through the lens of the creator. I'm really tired of this pursuit of objectivity in any kind of journalism. Objectivity does not exist...

There are many, many very intelligent figures in games criticism, but sadly, many of them are obscure and aren't exposed enough in the mainstream. Jane McGonigal wrote the game studies book "Reality is Broken" and Bernard Perron and Mark J.P. Wolf wrote both "The Video Game Theory Reader" books 1 and 2 (if you haven't read any of those yet, I definitely recommend picking them up).

If it came down to overall cultural influence, Adam Sessler for sure...

Pretty much. A 0/5 implies that the game is fundamentally and foundationally unplayable as a game. If the reviewer gave the game that score due to the difficulty in understanding the subject material, that then implies that the subject material is 100% of a game, which in my recollection, is false.

Please, please, PLEASE tell me that the 0/5 score was an accident, because the content of the review doesn't match up with the verdict in any way.

Why in the world would you think that you would be away from the MLP fans? You're on the internet.

Square should just make the damn remake already, if only so we don't have to discuss it anymore.

I politely disagree.

While graphics are generally the typical outlet for a game's "first impression", they do not determine the structure or design of a game. In fact, the graphics sense of first impression seems more like a commercial element, because you can't identify with the game's structure/design without actually playing the game.

Graphics are not anywhere near the level of importance of the game itself. You can have as many blade...

Dude, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile was one of the best XBLA games ever released. If you haven't played that, you have my utmost sympathies.

Agreed. I'd much rather play an 80+ hour RPG on a console that isn't bound to the living room. Lets me get more accomplished in the game.

What's interesting to me is that Piotrowski seems to have more of a problem with the game's aesthetic and story content than he does about the actual gameplay and design, which make a larger amount of contribution to a game's experience than he wants to admit. He makes no real critique about how the game is poorly constructed from a technical or design perspective.

Games like Braid aren't just telling rich stories; they value the tactile and gameplay experienc...

This. As much as gamers and even Nintendo themselves try their hardest to forget those disasters of games, they were Zelda games. You can't just ignore train wrecks like the Zelda CD-I games.

This piece feels incomplete in that regard, especially since the author admits that he didn't even finish Twilight Princess.

I'm confused. If the next Xbox isn't going to require a constant internet connection to play games, then why didn't Microsoft just reassure us all instead of going through that insane amount of drama with Orth?

I honestly don't know what to believe anymore with this. Microsoft desperately needs to clear this up with everyone, because I'm tired of all of this back-and-forth talk.

And everyone who's going to bring about an "I told y...

Funny, because I currently have no idea how any of the consoles will perform on the market this holiday either. I never said I did. I'm just saying that this article (despite what many will think) is not a doom article by any means, and makes some rather interesting points.

I'm in no way making any sort of money-down predictions about this because there's no point in doing that now. We need to see substantial information about the PS4 and the next Xbox before maki...

This article is going to be unfairly torn apart by those who look at the headline alone and refuse to read the context where the author says that a difference in pricing between the Wii U and its competitors could lead to Nintendo's success with the Wii U.

See, that happened before. The problem lies in commercials and ad revenue. While getting some new and fresh indie devs as guests wouldn't be necessarily costly, getting the devs behind major AAA titles that the audience especially care about IS like getting celebrities. They (or their bosses) WILL demand a fat paycheck and the way to give them that is through advertising and commercials.

As a result, video game television cannot compete with online game coverage. It simpl...

It's news because Jimmy Fallon will be in an earlier and more accessible time slot. The audience won't have to stay up extra late to see what he has to show on his program. The more exposure to an audience, the better the potential for people to take notice.

Besides, I'd much rather see some game developer show off their newest title than listen to Leno spout a dozen unfunny jokes about some sports team or whatever.
