Looks good. Nothing majorly better than the competition though all open world games are starting to look really nice now.
If you have the PC to run it that is... Not expecting anything near that on consoles.
If anything I'd expect this to spur on more hackers, speeding up the release of hacked firm wares and pirated games.
Look at the psp, there was nothing anyone could do once it started, every game was available for free download.
If the demand is high enough, it will happen.
I agree with most of it but I'm not sure that the vita is going to affect the ps4 that much.
Its an amazing piece of design but in a market that is being slowly taken over by smartphones with ever advancing games, dedicated handhelds are loosing relevance.
The issue was that SOCOM 4 was a game that went in way the wrong direction.
They turned away a loyal fan base trying to chase more mainstream series, but because of the lesser brand this gen it couldn't compete.
It failed on all fronts, and even turned its back on some of its most tactical game modes.
That's insane.
The problem is its not just us that suffer, its the independent stores and even chain stores. Look at game, I used to have 2 game stores and a Gamestation in a medium size town.
Now though there is just one game store, because online retailers and supermarkets are undercutting them so much. When the latest game is available in a supermarket for £25 other stores really suffer.
My guess is that supermarkets can take the ...
Honestly if this happens, I might just steer away from consoles.
The fact is if you buy something, its your to do what you want with including selling it on. we do this with films, CD's, why is the games industry so special?
Games are expensive, and some like call of duty are breaking out of the £40 price ceiling now to £42-£45.
It may not seem like much, but if everyone follows suit what will prices be next gen????
Far cry 3 for the amount of detail that has gone into the world.
So much going on all the time, gunshots in the distance, animals hunting each other. I've spent as much time throwing grenades at turtles and saving pigs from dogs as I have doing missions =p
Its an interesting world to travel. Unlike Farcry 2, I'll never understand the hype for that game once the initial excitement of attacking a base at night was gone, it turned out to be a boring and ...
Personally I think there is probably some sense in restricting the sale of assault rifles. No normal person needs a gun powerful to blow a door to pieces.
You look at other countries with stricter laws (Europe) and the rates of gun crime are waay less, it seems to happen in the US so much that is as if you just accept it as part of life now.
If someone wants a pistol for their own protection, in their own home, then whatever, but a fully automatic weapon has ...
To be honest for casual games definitely i see that happening, every analyst is saying it for a reason.
I mean look at smartphone and tablet games only a few years ago, the best we got was 2d flying birds and some crudely drawn platformers.
Now though in terms of visuals, Ive got some games that are rivaling the original psp for graphics so in the graphics department, as time goes on theyre going to catch up and considering the vita will be around for 5 years...
Doesnt bother me too much it was a given anyway. If you want to get the best visuals out of a game then at some point the fps will take a hit.
Not even pc's can get away with that. Check benchmarks for far cry 3 I read that even the radeon 7990 wont get 60fps if your on the very highest settings.
An extreme case i know but its a balancing act, and 30fps seems to be a good balance for games as a benchmark atm between preformance and visuals. That might ch...
It could be a game changer
Games are moving to digital only anyway, personally I see this as something a bit different to consoles and more like the kind of model we see with amazons kindle tablets where they had a lot of content to sell, and wished to expand their market base.
The potential market is huge. consoles are popular because theyre easy. a gaming pc that just used steam with its features would have the simplicity of a console, would have steams mas...
Like some have said i reckon this game needs to be remade as a WW2 shooter.
The market is saturated with authentic modern day shooters, weve not had a big name WW2 game for a little while now, especially in the way the MoH games did them.
Im thinking that this is something for next gen though, that way the game will get attention with better visuals and who knows maybe finally have the grunt to create massive battles.
Something like D day r...
I had a play with it and its pretty good. laptop makes have been adding taskbar menus for ages now like dells popout which got over the issue of having to go through menus and submenus.
Its nice to have a start screen where everything you personally want to access fast is right there for you it speeds things up so much. Looking forward to getting it when i upgrade my laptop.
I dont think he had a problem with the large open world gameplay, it was the repetitiveness that bothered him.
fair comment if you ask me. Unless people want the same thing over and over again?
Im not understanding the hate here to be honest.
Not having proper sights in this game has always annoyed me, some will say "but thats its unique feel" but it always just reminds me of how much better it is now unlike years ago when many games worked like that.
And it doesnt sound like the reviewer wanted the game to be bad, he said the first 15 mins were incredible, but then the rest failed to match that with push the button mission types.

I can see this happening. Im some countries at least. Even in the small town I live in I'll be changing to 30mbps fibre broad band later this year. Something which most cities enjoy now anyway, as long as servers are relatively close latency wont be an issue as new TV's will make up for that.
I tried onlive when the beta came out on a racer and the latency was noticeable and definitely hampered the gameplay but I was way out of the nearest server they used and i was s...
Sounds good. I didnt play Black ops as much as the other games so i never really got into the bits and pieces of the perk pro's didnt see the point. Gun choice has always made the biggest difference.
Looking forward to the game though, people complain about graphics and it always being the same but its one of the only multi plat games that cater so well to the many people who want to play shooters with and against friends in the same room.
Like past ones ...
I dont think its ever really been about the graphics, its all about the games.
Personally I think sony has done amazing with its first party titles theres been many of them and some have pushed the envelope and made a success out of ideas that no one thought would do so well.
what they have always lacked in my opinion is a system seller in the action genre. They have some big hitters but none of them were marketed to the level of halo or gears.
Why have they had so much trouble with the consoles?
People say that its massive game with a big map but theres loads of massive games with big maps, everyone else seems to be able to make games run on both consoles perfectly fine its just Bethesda I have had issues with.
Fallout 3 had a game breaking big where if i travel too far from my last save, it freezes, oblivion had a few bugs and skyrim has a poor framerate.
Heres hoping next gen th...
What would be good is if someone just somehow stitched the games together to create one large map. Do skyrim and morrowind and cyrodil share borders? (cant remember).
That would be awesome, especially since mods are already out what make oblivion and morrowind look really good
