They know they don't need COD, they just don't want to give Xbox any chance of having an advantage.
They know the writing is on the wall and there is likely going to be a massive shift it who is the dominant gaming publishers.
Again Sony acting like they are the underdog lol. They really need to stop acting so desperate.
Although it's nice to know Game Pass is doing so well, last we heard it was at 25ml in the summer so not bad.
"The Transaction threatens the gaming ecosystem at a critical moment. It would take an irreplaceable gaming franchise, Call of Duty, out of independent hands and combine it with Microsoft’s highly-successful gaming system (Xbox), leading multi-game subscription service (Game Pass), dominant PC OS (Windows), and leading cloud platform(Azure). The only way to preserve robust competition and protect consumers and independent developers is to ensure that Activision remains independently owne...
And yet they all play the same, just like Soulsbourne/Metroidvania aren't genres PS games all play exactly the same.
If this deal passes and there are no concessions, if I were MS I would just pull COD and Minecraft from PS out of spite, but that's just me lol.
It's desperate times for Sony, they know their days as leader are numbered if this goes through.
Sony admits without COD the Playstation brand will die even with it's great first party games.
Both are going to extremes to prove their point for this deal.
I believe the GOTY award is user voted which is why Fortnite won.
All of those sales are nothing compared to COD/GTA/FIFA.
Do you really think Playstation would survive if all of those were taken away?
Sony knows 80% of their base only care for COD/GTA/FIFA. Their 1st party isn't much of a draw these days.
Indeed, beating Elden Ring, GOW, FIFA and COD with the most low effort Pokemon game just goes to show quality doesn't matter.
And that's exactly his point.
It's thanks to Game Pass why Xbox has the most diverse line up in the industry.
Sims (flight sim), FPS (Halo), TPS (Gears), 3rd person adventure (Hellblade), WRPGs (Bethesda), 3D platformers (Psychonauts), 2D platformers (Ori), arcade racers (Horizon), sim racers (Motorsports), interactive stories (Pentiment), survival (Grounded), immersive sims (Arkane), RTS (AoE).
No one else comes close.
Holy crap I did not see a 10/10 from IGN coming at all, I fully expected 8 at best.
Guess MS's 2022 isn't so bad after all, GOW:R and Elden Ring better watch out since GOTY won't be so easy now lol.
It doesn't matter he could still have influenced people who are part of the decision process.
Yep I can't see it getting blocked after this, since the appeal process could make the entire commission look like a joke and could cause companies like Facebook to call their bias into question too.
Xbox is likely the only gaming giant who will be able to survive the increase in costs since MS is a trillion dollar company, everyone else will start feeling the pain soon we are already seeing it with companies like SE thinking about asking for 3rd party funding for Final Fantasy, Sony looking to make multiple GaaS and EA cutting projects.
Stanger of Paradise, Star Ocean and Valkyrie Elysium all had demos too I doubt it's about confidence more of a new SE policy.
At that price in this economy I don't see it doing very well, probably worse that PSVR1.
Since it is not just $550 it's $550 plus the cost of a PS5.
Wow that is crazy no wonder Game Freak doesn't bother they can outsell pretty much any console exclusive in just days.
