Yep to be fair to Jim he is probably right though. PS first party games don't make much money, they are expensive to make and are one and done games with no MTX and go on sales after a month or 2.
So without COD they probably would go out of business it's also likely why they are ditching single player games for GaaS games too.
Sony's first party devs must be in shambles right now, their leader just saying all your games mean nothing to us COD is what makes Playstation. Lol.
Crazy times ahead man.
Sony is correct about one thing it is unprecedented. Only one other time in the history of the CMA have they revised their findings and that is also the only example in the history of the CMA where they have accepted behavioural remedies.
CMA has egg on their face right now so it will be very hard for from them not to approve.
I am just quoting Sony if you think they are lying that's up to you to believe that.
Sony: "If PlayStation received a degraded version of Call of Duty, it would "seriously damage our reputation. Our gamers would desert our platform in droves and network effects would exacerbate the problem. Our business would never recover."
Wow Sony just admitted that their 1st party titles are meaningless to the success of the platform, so much for exclusives matter lol.
MS will literally have the existence of the Playstation brand in t...
@SoulWarrior
Could have worded it like this, Sony has as many timed exclusives as they can find and continues to find more blocking franchise that released on Xbox in the past. While MS spends a few dollars on studios asking to be acquired.
@Jin_Sakai
And MS was publisher of the year in 2021. Well done in figuring out release schedules exist some years you release a lot others you don't. Still waiting for that list of 1st party games Sony is...
Sony uses their large marketshare to get exclusive deals MS can't preventing multiplatform games coming to Xbox. MS uses their large chequebook to get multiplatform publishers Sony can't.
Each has their ways stop moaning about it and get over it.
How many first party games has Sony released this year and plan to release this year vs MS?
Of course it will it's Marvel and Starfield is on Game Pass.
The better comparison will be which game will have the highest player count.
Yeah I bet it's to do with the TV Show part, likely something to do with licenses with soundtrack, actors or even prop usage like the cars in the show.
Subscription services are never profitable alone just look at the music/film/tv industry. It's about getting active users into your ecosystem to get them to spend elsewhere such as with DLC or MTX.
Not surprising at all, anyone could see from a mile away this would flop especially after those dire preorders. When the console is selling so well and even with a massive marketing push your product still fails to sell you should know it's time to cut your losses and bow out.
I fully expect it to be discontinued by the end of next year unless they start giving them away.
This patent isn't from MS but from Turtle Beach, the source didn't read the patent.
Actually COD was the second best selling game of Feb behind Hogwarts so, COD likely factors into these numbers.
Great numbers for Sony, the gap will likely be huge this gen.
Also good news for MS too the bigger the gap the easier it will be for them to continue making purchases like ABK.
Indeed I fully expect it to start with Factions having a PC and PS5 simultaneous release.
Sony is definitely going to follow MS with treating PC as an equal to consoles.
Looks like the pieces are all starting to fall in to place.
Interesting how Japan approves right after the US claim of the Sony monopoly in Japan. Could be a sign they don't want to look biased of western acquisitions.
"Let alone, they are attempting to remove Nintendo and the PC market as a whole" Sony did this not MS, Sony.
The only reason there has been any opposition to the ABK deal is because Sony made up this "high-end market". Now it is being used against them.
As they should, Sony is preventing Xbox gamers playing JP games like Final Fantasy which is why they dominate in JP. And since Sony doesn't count Nintendo they have a monopoly.
Sony shouldn't have poked the bear that is MS, you can bet after the deal is done they will go scorched earth on Sony.
MS has the money and power to make Sony disappear so they best keep silent from here on if they want to remain relevant.
It's obvious MS stopping paying for what Sony/Nintendo were getting for free. It's that simple.
They obviously believe paying for something like COD is worth more than some JRPGs.
