Realistic physics in games will never catch on. Lara Croft would keep falling over forwards.

My kids love it. Of course, they sometimes pretend they have pet headcrabs... :->

I got an invite to the MAG beta, but I didn't even ask for that and it's not really my style of game.

But I asked for an invite to MNR and I got one! I'll have a bunch of fun with my kids over xmas vacation with this one. Can't wait to get home and start messing with it...

inFamous did have a *few* bugs.

A couple times on my playthroughs, I got glitched into a wall, but I was able to extract myself eventually. Maybe five times I saw enemies glitched inside walls; you could hear them, see them on the map, but they couldn't hurt you and you couldn't hurt them.

There were reports of people sometimes glitching through the ground and dying, but I never saw that. In any case, while inFamous wasn't perfect, I can't see it as even in the runni...

beardpapa - Read the last question here:

"Can I move my hard drive to an unmodified console?

Yes, to an unmodified console."

GrieverSoul - Two problems with banning IDs instead of consoles.

First, what if you log in on your buddy's console, not knowing it was modded? Your ID gets banned. MS can avoid that whole situation by just banning the console and not the IDs on it.

Second, not banning the IDs works in MS's favor. Imagine you're a pirate and your console's been banned. What do you do? You've still got X months on your Live subscription, but no console to play with. You *could* go buy a PS3....

Sucker Punch is too small a studio to do two games at once, and inFamous has sold well. They'd be foolish not to invest in it. Sorry, it'd be nice if they could do both, but I don't see that happening. And if I had to pick, I'd go with inF 2.

...and I'm really looking forward to this. Should be massive fun with a group, and a never-ending supply of new tracks.

Well, reportedly Assassins Creed 2 successfully addressed the same 'repetitiveness' complaint in AC1; no reason why Sucker Punch can't do the same. As Dipso points out, SP has the technology foundation pretty well laid out. They can elaborate on that and the gameplay elements that they know work.

Can't come fast enough for me, but a little DLC for the current inFamous would be welcome, too.

Yeah, I let my oldest play inFamous, even as a bad guy... but my kids know not to repeat swear words, and understand the difference between cartoon violence and real life.

On the other hand, Batman:AA looked a little too dark for them. For some other kids, it'd probably be fine.

Being a parent mean, y'know, paying attention and some thought to what works for *your* kids.

I did get my GW Blades, and I have to say... meh. Most of the time, it's a bad idea to get that close to enemies. About the only time I found a use is, say, getting onto a rooftop with a bunch of enemies. You can use the blades to take one out fast, then worry about the rest.

Think of the blades as the world's tiniest cherry on top of a giant sundae. (That 'sundae' is a helluva lot of fun, though.)

By the *end* of next year, maybe. No way in hell it sells ~800K in the next couple weeks.

(Mind you, it certainly *deserves* to sell that well, it's an awesomely fun game. But you don't sell like that without a major advertising push.)

"When I became a man, I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C. S. Lewis

LBP is child-*friendly*, but that doesn't mean it's just "for kids". There's a lot going on there if you pay attention. And if you want to do more grown-up things like create your own levels, you actually can in LBP.

I like a bit of ultraviolence as much as the next grown-up. (I'm really looking forward to the nex...

This happens more than anyone would like, and not because of games or pot. Just heard a couple days ago about a woman who slept in bed with her infant, rolled over in her sleep, and suffocated the baby. Sleeping in the same bed with children has risks.

Of course, putting a baby in a crib has different risks - it seems if babies roll over or otherwise get tangled and block off their air, they tend to stay asleep and die instead of waking and moving like more developed children, an...

I've got some of those already. The wireless keypad works pretty well - you won't write a novel on it but it's way better than the onscreen keyboard. The Blu-ray remote is nice to have and makes a lot of the video effects easier to get at. A USB port expander's almost necessary if you want to hook up extras like Singstar mikes.

And the PS2/USB converter's good to have. I only have two wireless controllers, but I can hook up a couple of PS2 controllers for when we want to play LBP...

@IdleLeeSiuLung - The "personal information" that Sony gets is "PSN account information, content saved on your PS3 system, and your email address, if this information was being used on your PS3 system at the time of the problem."

Sony's already got two out of three of those already (PSN account, email). The third ('saved content') is *mildly* worrisome, but (a) I don't keep anything too personal on my PS3 anyway, and (b) you have the option of declining to sen...

@"CancellationOfTheCell&q uot; (wow, trollish name) - The PS2 was a unique hardware platform very different from every other system out there, and that didn't stop anyone from developing for it. (Hell, *everyone* developed for it.)

Even *if* the PS4 uses something besides the Cell, it'll almost certainly have a similar structure ('standard' CPU + array of special-purpose processors) - indeed, the article actually says that. Getting experience with the Cell and how it works i...

...the "Nyko PS3 Media Hub" is a pretty cheap but nice accessory. For the fat PS3s with only two USB ports and no media reader, it adds two more USB ports, and an SD/MS card reader. It's come in handy a few times on my 40GB (well, 80GB now) fat PS3.

Now that the Slim's out (I don't think it'll fit a Slim, BTW) it should be even cheaper.
