True...if we're still in 2010/2011. The tides are changing though.

Last time I checked there are tons of old PC titles/franchises being revived into free to play games. Anno, Red Alert Generals, Silent Hunter, Age of Empire, Sim City, Might and Magic the Gathering, Mech Warrior are some of the better examples being turned into f2p titles among newer titles that are already being sold or still in development.

With less production budget than a regular con...

Yeah.

“players are going to feel as immersed as a real driver”

-no driver camera.

The more game developers made their games to be less realistic, the more they claim they really are realistic. Just like how Ubisoft claimed HAWX will be realistic with licensed aircraft models but they all end up fly almost the same way (an A-10 in a supersonic dog fight with Mig 29s both with thrust vectors?) and carry nearly unlimited missiles.

"...an experience that can't be interrupted through social interaction..."

I have been playing Sleeping Dogs for the past couple of weeks and the most annoying thing is that the game kept telling I need to be connected to the internet to have the "the full experience." I'm so in the sp story so suddenly having some social pop ups telling me that some other guys have achieved something is immersion breaking. What does some guy's top record for u...

I used to pirate games in my early gaming years thanks to the lack of actual shops selling legit games in my place. I have the money and commitment to buy them but no means to acquire them legally. I even boasted to my friends that I'll be buying legit games regularly if given the chance but it took years before I can actually do so.

Online purchase? I've only got my first credit card this year and I merely got it to verify my Paypal account. The fear of overspending...

Uplay.

Just another client like Origin which EA used and EA is now in the business of free-to-play games. One of their rep even proudly announced he hasn't approved any singleplayer games this year for EA. Coincidentally Ubisoft is also diving deep into the f2p business.

Maybe they should've said this when they were giving away games for $1 several weeks back and during Steam's Summer Sale. Really, I was laughing at the Ubisoft page at the Summer Sale. "Nice prices, too bad about the DRM," that what I thought as I browsed through the offered games.

I only have terrible combinations of words in my mind right now. Let's just say I'm not happy with this person is so proud saying those particular things.

The funny thing is that most of their launch titles would probably be sequels or F2P versions of current/older games.

Yes, it does feel kinda paying for cheats.

I like to progress my XPs at my own pace. It's much more satisfying to see all your work paid off and you get to try out each new upgrades at a time. Now with every mission completion I see the already full upgrade bars just flashed uselessly telling me I've achieved something that are already unlocked thanks to the DLCs. Feels kinda empty.

I was really hoping there would be tons of extra missions with the D...

I made a mistake and bought the Gold and Silver Triad DLCs for Sleeping Dogs the other days. I must've misread the description and thought they are extra missions/quests to help you gain more/extra XPs (-5 Police XPs for being clumsy...really? The Triad don't seem to mind if you bungled 100 jumps but the HK police sure does demand a high physical standard for their snitches).

Anyway, I discovered later that those DLCs not only give me extra XPs but automatically upgr...

A co-worker recently bought a tablet for her young niece's birthday. I was surprised to see she was willing to spend a fortune for a kid's birthday...oh, wait...it's just another cheap obscure tablets from China that is selling for dirt cheap.

On one hand the device felt quite sturdy but at the same time it gives out that cheap knock off feel once you hold it. She downloaded Angry Bird Space into it and in no time at all I was testing it out due to curiosity.

Already preordered it long ago. Doesn't bother me if they delayed it too much. Besides I'm currently trying to accomplish the impossible task of finishing my Steam Summer Sale backlog while causing chaos in the streets of Hong Kong in Sleeping Dogs. So, having Torchlight 2 delayed is, in a way, a welcomed thing.

No mod tools doesn't mean the modders are grounded. In fact in some cases it'll spur them further.

GTA4 doesn't have mods tools and yet we have mods all over the place. The same goes for Just Cause 2 and yet I was playing the muliplayer mod several weeks ago. There are Skyrim mods before the official tools were released.

Hopefully they'll persuade DICE to make mod tools for the Frosbite2 (highly doubtful but nothing wrong with dreaming)

"We will do a single-player esque experience," Yerli said when asked if Crytek would produce another single-player experience. "But it will be for you and your friends together."

We already have that. It's called coop. And it's not true single player if you need another player to play it properly. From what I can see the reason you need a second player for a singleplayer campaign in F2P is so that they can call it an online coop. Otherwise a true s...

Well, now they are getting rid of those. Thanks to free to play. Have you seen the amount of classic games (on the PC anyway) being revived/converted into F2P? I know the major publishers are thinking of ways to get next gen consoles games to become F2Ps (might the reason for the delay).

Why bother with rising the bar in story telling, technology, AI, etc when all they have to do is just give us the multiplayer, make a big deal about it's free (people love free things) an...

The controls are a tiny bit clunky at times but not that horrid. I bought myself an X Box controller for this game but instead I find the mouse+keyboard controls are better for the hand-to-hand combat. Not surprising though since Sleeping Dogs was helped by the guys who made Batman the Arkham games and I seldom used a controller for those. The mouse gives me the freedom to look around the battlefield while maintaining strike and defensive capabilities all in one neat package.

I've played a number of F2Ps (all shooters) and they are all just grinding around in the same maps over and over again. I got bored after several hours (the last one was just after a hour of play). There's no sense of discovery or exploration that regular games have and that made those F2Ps feel empty.

Just you, some friends and enemies running around shooting each other. Session ends, loads the next map. Say, "Here we go again."

I know that...
