My brain hurts from reading the article/interview (I have a headache but it got worse now).
Yves Guillemot said the number of F2P item buyers are the same as the actual PC buyers while the rest, for both demographics, are pirates. So why invest in millions in either types of games even though there will be merely 5-7% actual buyers? Why is it OK for F2P to have 93% non buyers but 93% PC gamers are demonized for being non buying pirates or regular non-F2P games?
When you pay for a regular game, you get the single player story/campaign, maybe some offline modes and the multiplayer. ALL that in a nice little package. There's really no need for you to pay for anything to play the multiplayer.
With a F2P, you download a game for free...then you pay for stuff. Usually that's what you get - no story, no other modes, just a multiplayer portion. Many said you don't need to buy anything but we all know that's a lie. There will...
I can compete, just that I'm not in the mood for competing anymore. Maybe I'm bored or something. I have been playing games constantly for the last several months (trying to finish the elusive back logs) but mostly in singleplayer.
I'm 30 and don't really want to spent most of my time competing with younger (presumably) gamers every night. Maybe now and then when I'm in the mood for some online action. Of course, I've seen how I fare against those gamers so why bother. I just want to sit back, realx and enjoy the story....oh, wait...
Unfortunately now there's a lot of games going free to play so that's NOT a bright future to forward to. No singleplayer, no campaign mod...just con...

I'm playing it w/a 360 controller too but then I discovered that I got beat up faster when I tried out my first fight club. I tried out with the mouse again and I breeze through the fight easily. I found out that switching between targets while locking on actually worked on the PC control while on the controller there's some sort of delay when it comes to directional punches and blocks that I skipped locking on.
I'm torn between the tw...
Maybe the creators of the Crysuit were thinking of environment and the suit's horrendous energy emissions. So they made Crysuit 2.0 to be more energy efficient, hence the hybrid power management. Now that the world and the environment are one big mess (in the domed New York at least), to hell with environmentally friendly war suits.
Maximum power+maximum emission = maximum kills all the way.
I thought the gaming side of Windows 8 is through the integrated X Box LIVE platform...which is not mod friendly. Not to mention the focus on mobile devices, social stuff, cloud, DLCs and free to play. None of those are mod friendly.
So yes, I'm worried how Windows 8 will affect the core nature of PC gaming.
Now that I think about it....maybe it's Sony all along. Using a phony front and buying Onlive anonymously only to tear it apart so it won't pose any significant danger to Gaikai and PS4. Just enough to keep the anti-trust guys from sniffing around.
Maybe.
Here' my theory : It's Apple. Apple TV is coming out and they need something to accompany it to storm the console dominated living rooms.
Please, BuckyBarnes.
I'm a loyal PC gamer which means I don't have a console (whatever rocks my boat, right?). My brother had a bad experience with Black and Call of Duty on the PS2 and they ruined console shooters for him for a very long time. He recently bought an X Box 360 and I'm the one who taught him how to use the controller properly. A PC gamer taught a new console gamer how to use the controller properly for the X Box 360. Now, he's enjoying playing C...
It's funny seeing the title asking whether this game is worth picking up when there's a big fat 9/10 next to it.
Anyway, I've played maybe an hour of the game and find it quite an enjoyable rush, so far. Had to stop for a while to finish downloading the high res texture first.
It boils down to what type of games that uses the models. The action games are mostly buy to win while the rpgs are free to play.
RPGs such as GW2 are about exploring big fantasy worlds and fight AI monsters. So buying cosmetic items to make your character look awesome is part of the mechanic. All the XP accumulations are through tedious grinds. But at least you look awesome while grinding those hours away.
Action F2P games on the other hand is all about own...
Depends on the game. This includes the theme, atmosphere and gameplay that the developer envision it would become. The Arma series for example is a unapologetic realistic take on the military theme so going instead for a cel-shaded look would certainly feel so wrong for it. It's something that Bohemia Interactive have been chasing for years so telling them that realistic graphic is the not way to go is rather rude. It's what they want to do.
The same goes for casual g...
In the last 12 hours alone I've seen these announcements : Anno Online, Silent Hunter Online, Heroes of Might and Magic Online, and icing on the cake : Command and Conquer Generals 2 will be F2P.
This is getting really ridiculous. Launch any F2P game and you're against other gamers all the time. No story to discover or explore (action/shooter F2Ps-you just run around shooting in online arenas). Even if you are allowed to go solo or play the story mode (F2P RPGs) then...
Company of Heroes fried my power supply. Of course it was one of those cheap ones that came with the casing but it taught me not to use cheap non-branded ones anymore.
LoL. I was intrigued by the first lowest score for Sleeping Dogs and then I saw the name Edge as this comment section was about to load.
Why bother. Still, thanks for the warning.
Glad I won't be disappointed with this pre order. Looking at the review scores, so far, so good. Just waiting for the Steam unlock.
From Software also ported Ninja Blade at it has the options to run at variable fps or locked either 30 or 60 fps. It may be a different game than Dead Souls but at least they proved that they can do it so locking it at 30fps only is quite strange.
In contrast I'm still waiting for my gaming laptop to arrive. My old Celeron-powered Compaq Presario can only play classic games while my main gaming PC is too bulky to carry around. I have to stay at my work place for most of the week so carrying that behemoth is quite a chore, especially when I need to use a boat to get there.
So this year I opted for a gaming laptop. It's nearly half the weight of my PC (it still heavy compared to regular laptops) but at least I s...
So console gamers will get the regular, full games with a singleplayer story, extra modes and multiplayer.
PC gamers on the other hand will only get the multiplayer (except for RPGs that inherently have stories and quests). Not only that we'll have to pay to see most of the stuff in the "free" game unless we are willing to grind it through without paying. That doesn't make a game a fun and thrilling experience. Anybody wondered why Blizzard raised the level ...
