Sound logic but not what history has shown us. When current gen consoles came out tons of developers left the PC for a greener pasture. A dedicated hardware that can churn out graphic just like a high PC can with the "a million hardware configuration" problem. Who could resist such an offer. But, a dedicated machine age quickly and soon those developers are coming back to the PC. No matter how powerful a console is, the PC still offer a lot of flexibility that still lures back some ...
Which reminds me: Whatever happened to Operation Flashpoint?
You already have those GDDR5 RAM in your PC if you have a high end PC. It's in your graphic card hence the "G" in GDDR.
Great! It's better when the whole game will be on one platform like that. There would be less incompatibility when buying DLCs or addons later on (like when you bought the retail version but then there's a nicely discounted DLC on Steam).
Race or skin colour doesn't matter much when it comes to characters. What matters is the character itself. His/her story, motivation and personality is key in making the player root for them regardless of their race. Italian plumbers, blue hedgehogs,
Unless it's a specific, non-fantasy settings like games set in classical China or medieval Japan. It would be strange if some non-region specific characters to suddenly become the protagonists in those time periods (lik...
Looking at the disagrees, it seems that a number of people doesn't like graphic mods.
I'm not gonna sign that.
This silent "maybe, maybe not" attitude Rockstar has with PC gaming is getting tiresome. If they really don't want to make a PC version, then don't. Just stop with the tease, tell us outright you don't like the PC and leave.
Console gamers are talking with glee about GTAV at their forums right now while PC gamers are still on their knees begging.
It would be strange if Rockstar actually &qu...
There were a number of games that have received less than stellar reviews but once I tried them out (thanks for Stem Sales). I was surprised to see they were pretty good.
I'll wait for a Steam sale before getting this game so I can see what's all the fuss about at a price point that won't made me cringe. The downside of this method is that I will be terribly left out when it comes to multiplayer (being the lone Level 1 player VS a whole battalion of high level, fu...
It took me 2 years to finish Darksiders. Played it non stop until I felt I'm around 3/4 of the campaign and then I stopped. Then just a couple month before Darksiders 2 came out I replayed the first one and actually finished it.
The pattern is repeating itself with Darksiders 2 now.
Last I heard they haven't started on the PC version at all.
Even so, CDP still make PC games regardless of the millions of @sshats. They made an amazing game engine from whatever amount of profit they accumulated from the first The Witcher game and still made the second game a PC exclusive while they learn how to port it to the X box 360.
All the while Id Tech and Crytek need PC to promote their next gen engines and keep their games alive months after launch thanks to the persistent modders (thanks to Skyrim and Day Z).
I don't know about that. Most of my friends who own the PSP play pirated games. From I've seen it's far easier than the PC: a software update and then just copy and paste the games into the memory card. A lot of them who owns Android devices have the Black Market App that allow them to unlock Apps without ever paying which in a way similar to piracy.
It's weird that the big companies are losing focus on the PC due to piracy while at the same time smaller MMO c...
Side quests should be a device to tell the player what the world is like beyond what the main story is telling us. Just like the pieces of notes in other games, audio records in Bioshock or ECHO records in Borderlands that tell about the rest of the game world. Side quests should be treated that way and not just a cheap way to extend the player's game time.
“I think there’s a place for cloud gaming, but more as a feature or for things like demos and spectating. But not as core architecture.”
Yes. Cloud is great as a feature, a component of a game/client. I avoided Steam's own cloud services for years since I preferred to keep it in offline mode most of the time thanks to a pretty shaky internet connection. Recently though I started using Steam's cloud (for uploading save files) to keep the gaming experience constant betw...
Right around Sony and MS are starting the next gen war since it is rumored that preventing reselling games is one of the main functions of next gen consoles.
"It is created for RPGs set in vast open-worlds with improved tools for spanning truly nonlinear stories that are based on real player choices and consequences."
CDP is designing their game engine for both high graphical fidelity and deep story+gameplay elements. It's not just about pretty pictures when comes to CDP.
I've been saying this for a while: some PC gamers who actually spend the said bunch of money in some ways will benefit console gamers in next gen. Those fancy DX11 effects PC gamers currently enjoy is bound for next gen consoles and developers+gamers will enjoy tons DX11 ready console games upon launch compared to the current gen's hectic first several months.
There would be less time waiting for developers to re-learn new game codes since there's an already huge ...
Interesting. I will fully support it for GoG and Steam but...
...for mobile gaming.......only if it uses the traditional pay once and get the full package deal. None of that free-to-play-but-littered-with -micro-transactions stuff (why do I constantly need to keep paying for a game all the time, anyway?). Of course, mobile gaming being the center of F2Ps so that is just wishful thinking on my part.
Same here.
SEGA owns the Total War series, another great RTS franchise, so I do hope they won't drop the ball with CoH2.
I also hope SEGA will get Relic drop the pseudo-always online DRM they introduced in the first CoH. I bought 3 copies of the game with the hope the last one, a Complete "digital" edition, would get rid of the DRM but no. You can't even use the retail dvd to play it offline.
Based on what I've heard, the PS4's hardware is pretty standard from a PC gamer's perspective. The only exceptions are the AMD APU is slightly modified to cater Sony's requirement and the usage of GDDR5 as system ram. Other than that (and the console OS that will be powering it), it's like a PC. Not hating here...just curious about some things:
What happens when AMD decide to (and it will) release their next gen APU for the PC? The new APU will be much pow...
