At least he's investing on something he has great confidence in (his company).

Maybe I'm trailing a bit into tha fanboy zone. The line is extremely thin blurry. I don't primarily game on the console but that doesn't stop me from advising friends which PSP to buy. I informed another which shop to buy PSP Vita games and helped my brother in some of the aspect of his X Box 360 (I showed him the coop mode for Halo4). I'm even modifying a car seat for him so he can sit comfortably while gaming in his living room.

Oh, I understand the real rea...

Yes, you are right, Oschino1907. I do have to change my settings for every new games - I have to adjust the settings because they usually are too low for my PC.

As a PC gamer I constantly face those facts head on. I have an old Celeron laptop with a hole at the bottom because the fan is dead. It can hardly play any modern games but that's like putting a PS3's BR disc into a PS2.

I have a lot of old games inside the old trusty laptop and there are tons...

I don't have to put anything into my PC's disc drive. In fact I haven't put, touch or seen a game DVD in months. ALL of my games are installed in my PC and ready to go at a double-click of a shortcut.

Want to play another game? Click another shortcut. No disk required. No fumbling around with disks.

At times I just don't get the console gamers' perception/definitions of "ease-of-use". e.g.:

User-friendly ease-of...

No wonder there's something feel fishy about War Z when I first heard about it. With Day Z here's an actual mod/game that's being tried and tasted. There were actual stories of gamers' adventures for a mod long before the hypes started.

Then suddenly War Z appeared out of nowhere. Even the gaming sites were a bit hesitant about promoting War Z early on. Of course between a universally known buggy Arma 2 engine and money producing MMO...they chose War Z.

Exactly. Why is this article asking this question while Chinese players are currently beta testing CoD Online(CoDO?) as we speak?

Is it possible that two flops in a row actually means EA is actually tired of MoH? They already have Battlefield and Bad Company as potent counters to MW and Black Ops. A third yearly shooter, MoH, would only fragments their fans and occupy a lot of programmers away from BF and BFBC. They have a good thing with the Premium DLC of keeping fans occupied for a whole year so why bother it with another game? Activision doesn't have any other yearly shooters beyond those two.

What is that article talking about?

I've played Battlefield 1942 with a lot of DX9 updates that DICE and Nvidia seemed to pumping every several weeks. That was back in 2003.

It's 2012 and yet DX 9 is still being used in a vast majority of games across a lot of gaming platforms.

As long as the X Box 360 along with multiplatform game development still exist, MS would be be very crazy to immediately drop support for DX 9/10 for its curre...

"...its games like these that are just not created anymore..."

So what are Sleeping Dog, True Crime series, Just Cause series, The Saint Row series, Red Dead Redemption, Batman Arkham series and some of Spiderman series then? Last time I checked these are not FPSes in a closed world.

The most significant thing about sales like this is that they give you the chance to buy games that you weren't sure you want to cough out a lot of money for. There are a lot games out there that interested me but due to not-so-radiant reviews I skipped them. When Steam Sales comes along (followed by other online stores like GamersGate and GetGames) some of these games are sold at a very low price so why not? I've bought Rage, Binary Domain, Prototype 2, Blade of Time and most recentl...

Big innovation means we have to learn something new and adapt to it so it will take a very long time for wide acceptance or face certain doom. The Wii is a great example of big innovation that storm the industry at the right time-there's literary no one else doing that tech at launch. Windows Tablet (the first one, personally introduced by Bill Gates long before the iPad) is a good example of how a great idea can be doomed upon arrival.

But innovation cut in small chunks ...

I'm not signing that petition. Rockstar have been toying with PC gamers far too long and often that it's not funny anymore.

They should have at least have the decency to tell us the PC version will be delayed for another "X" amount of time or at a yet to be announced date. Other developers with even worse PC relationship like Ubisoft at least honestly tell us the PC version will be released later than the console version.

With Rockstar it&#...

Mod scenes that Rockstar never actually supported and killed right off the bat. Modders have to crack open the game with their own tools and skills to make those mods for GTA4.

Amazing mods for the closed Just Cause 2? The developer were amazed.

Amazing mods from the equally closed GTA4? Hardly a word from Rockstar.

That's what F2P is all about : always online game with no story to explain why are you fighting and have to actually buy the equipment you sorely need (kinda like day one/cut content DLC on steroids).

I find the first several F2Ps I've tried rather boring. They have arena style battle. Get into a session, shoot/jump/run/walk around the map, the session ends and repeat. I quit and uninstalled Tribe Ascends after less than 20 minutes playing it.

If they mesh it subtly and organically into the game's main story then it's fine.

If it just to stir controversy to rack up free publicity or tacked on because one of the writer have strong personal feeling about a certain topic, then no it's bad for gaming.

I've played Planetside 2 for several hours already. It was fun but I'm still on the fence of whether to commit or not. That's the dark side of F2P-there's no obligation for you to dedicate yourself for the long haul. I don't enjoy the constant encounters with high level players because my level 3, non-Credit card enhanced loadout simply tickle them.

Here's another reason for me to dislike online only games : the lack of offline training modes like thos...

I was finally getting my games in order after the Steam Summer Sale. Finishing off the the games one by one...then, Steam's Autumn Sale appeared. Just when I thought the backlog was going to disappear, Steam dumped more discounts and bundles on me.

Modders. There's almost nothing that they can't do let alone imagine. GTA4 doesn't support modding and yet there are mods for it. Just Cause 2 also doesn't have any mod tools and yet there's another beta for multiplayer mod this weekend for it.

Game makers are held back by their publishers'/studios' financial projections. Modders are held back by the lack of proper tools and stigma (now, thanks to DLCs and F2Ps). These ...
