Everyone speculates about everything This is just what people who have great interest ins similar stuff do. They talk about their interest with other people. Sharing. Interacting.

Even if some of the people here don't have consoles but they do have bits of information that others might not have.

8000M - Who are you going to ask? A hardcore console player who never played on the PC or the tech geek whose hands are smeared wit...

That reminds me of the frustrating situation I've seen in PC gaming: there are millions of PCs out there but not all of them are cut to play a lot of games (that use a lot of power). I'm also tired of developers and gamers complaining about the "millions of PC settings" as an excuse to turn to the consoles so see Steam Box is there to give them the hassle free option.

If Steam Box can set a standard minimum hardware requirement for PC ...

The command system really needed to be better. I used buttons to give the command instead of an actual microphone and voice command.

The most annoying thing is when suddenly the commands switched to social commands (praising or being angry at your team mates) during heated buttons. So instead of spamming the "regroup" command to get them to a better spot, I was berating them for their incompetence. Feels kind of guilty when I heard the submissive tone of team's...

I was waiting for the uproar of finger pointing towards gamers after the shooting. Strangely enough everyone's rather careful with this one thanks to the initial confusion of blaming Mass Effect which was liked by the shooter's brother.

The police did find a computer but the hard disk was all smashed up beyond repair. Almost...like the shooter deliberately destroyed any evidence for people can use to blames games for his actions (my speculation). Might it be possible ...

Binary Domain easily sit as one of my top ten games of 2012. I simply love how the robots react to our shots. Shoot one in right arm and it'll look around for its rifle and pick it up with the left and continue to kill you. Shoot one in the legs and it'll crawl towards you like an angry TX1000.

The giant spider robot's reaction when it only has one leg left is pretty hilarious. Why does a giant, heavily-armored spider robot designed as mobile coastal defenses can...

I used to be a big supporter of discs or buying retail but now I've joined the digital download camp. My internet connection is slow but it still doesn't deter me from choosing the digital route.

Constant sales are a major factor in my decision but there are other factors that cement it even further. The most obvious one is that most clients allow you to backup your games either in external drives and burn into physical media. You get to backup games while they are in...

They really do sounded like begging for attention with such an announcement. Not surprising since they are introducing a new character to the gaming crowd. Aside from the unique combat system the only other thing they have to brag about is the character's skin color.

Skin color is not that important as long as the character themselves are interesting and well conceived. Unless you are trying to make a statement about racism with your game then skin color might play import...

One thing I find annoying these days is that a lot of games kept asking to go the their developer's social site even though I don't want to. I just want to play the singleplayer. Darksiders 2, Max Payne 3 and Sleeping Dogs to name a few.

They kept offering a lot of stuff if we join their social thing but then I wondered...why aren't those things in the game already? They are not DLCs or Pre Order bonuses or F2P items so why are there content cut from my game? Ther...

Valve is just letting the big guns out with the Steam Box in anticipation for the next gen console's arrival. Just like what happened when the PS3 and 360 came out, Valve rolled out Steam during a time of mass PC game developers migration to consoles. Valve was just filling the vacuum those developers created and now it is doing the same with Steam Box.

SteamBox - a PC console that is able to play all of your already purchased/installed Steam games from the moment it is l...

F2P is not only "DLC taken to the nth degree" but also always online DRM evolved to a hideous form.

Some might say F2P is where you can try out a game without ever coughing out any money. If you like it, dedicate yourself to it (paying for items). If you don't, leave. But the problem is that the extra hours of grinding around doesn't justify the free entry price.

I've tried a sailing game for my Android phone. A free to play. It has a fu...

"Why do these games NEED to be online all the time?"

...all because of the social interaction crap + free to play micro transaction. They're used the social gaming feature to justify a lot of the games they are forcing to be online all the time.

Forcing people online all the time because it's your DRM? Expect gamers to rebel instantly. Look at how gamers reacted toward Ubisoft games before 2012 and Spore. Total chaos and a costly endeavor fo...

At first I want to counter your statement with the presence of MMOs and F2Ps on the PC. Then, I remembered that Sony and MS are now furiously trying to get those two genres into their next gen consoles. I also remembered when MMOs were said to be the only thing that's keeping the PC alive during the mass migration of the PC developers to the current consoles. Now, F2Ps are providing such an alluring prospect that PC game developers-turned-console game developers are coming back. As if the...

I've played Black and White in front a pretty pious Christian friend years ago and then explained to him the game's premise. I could just see the stern disapproval in his facial expression. (I later discovered a lot of the people there doesn't particularly like the theory evolution)

Several years later while playing Command and Conquer Generals, I have to keep a straight face when I had to launch an orbital attack on some terrorist encampment. Since I have Muslim ...

It sounds cool but sometimes having an alternate history feels the developer is running out of ideas but need to find ways to make people pay more.

The new Tomb Raider is not much of a total reboot rather more of the developer exploring another side/mechanic should have been in the franchise in the first place. Most of the older TR games about exploring jungles and ruins, solving puzzles and shooting bad guys. Where's the survival aspect (in an open world no less) for a lone woman who is deep in a hostile environment with dangerous enemies? That was not explored much in old series so introducing it for this new one is actually in the...

Racism exists and ugly but in it's becoming a tiring topic nowadays, especially in gaming. Slam Far Cry 3 for having a helpless native tribe that needed a white man to save them but praise Avatar even though it's also about a native tribe needed a white man to save them.

What about Sleeping Dogs? There's a lot Chinese in that game with a white guy controlling the main character. That should be considered racist, too.

Mass Effect series needed a hu...

Prescott...man, that thing whine so much. Of course that was back when better heat sinks was scarce in my place and I'm stuck with the stock Intel cooler. Imagine my surprise listening my Core2 Quad Q6600 with a Xigmatek tower H/S compared to the Prescott.

Then again...I'm still using stock Intel cooler for my current i5 2500K even though there are tons of great heatsinks available.

You said it. The most satisfying third person shooter out there. The gun mechanic just feels right: the bullets doesn't have the..."curvy"...feel to it that I get from other third person shooter. And the location specific damage is adds so much to the shooting. Actually beat an troublesome armoured "mini-boss" after reading about the deep damage system an article posted in N4G.

I do wish there are more DLCs about the story though. I don't play the ...

I've been downloading Steam games. Some them are pretty big (for me anyway since my internet speed is so slow), going beyond 10gbs. But when I started to download them, I only have to download less than half of their stated sizes. Obviously compression is involved, something that most people tend to forget whenever game instal sizes are mentioned.

Interstellar Marines had sadly failed to meet up it's Kickstarter goal. I'm not sure what happened to it now as an aftermath. I do hope these indie developers aren't too dependent with Kickstarter to keep their games alive. IM was kept alive by pre-orders and the community so seeing it cancelled simply because it failed to meet its Kickstarter goal would be devastating both for it and the indie scene in general. Putting all your hopes, plans and dreams in one basket is not a good ...
