If you can get a stranglehold on the competition with your "imitation" and make Billions, who gives a sh!t about the original?
That reading the posts, lets all just admit it... good ideas get copied by the competition, and sometimes even improved on. Not a bad thing, then everybody gets what they want. But for Mr. Trettin to say that Sony doesn't copy others is ridiculous-- of course they do, and the things they have copied are well laid out in earlier posts. Mr. Trettin-- everyone is doing it, its okay, don't get defensive. I'm sure Home will be out someday and it might even be cool. But 10 to 1 odds Microsoft'...
Always wanted to do that...
Admitting that Nintendo has gone so mass market they don't count anymore, Sony announced.... dowloadable moves. 360 already has that, and with the Netflix announcement, Sony is still playing catch-up. Sony announced God of War 3, but no release date and no gameplay footage. MS showed single-player GOW2, actual game footage, and footage from other great exclusive games (Fable 2, Banjo and Kazooie) that are out THIS YEAR. Sony gets stuffed again. Microsoft shows new look dashboard, avatars...
Xbox LIVE now has NETFLIX integration, which, if I'm not mistaken, means through this service you can now wath Sony Picture Studios movies...on your 360. Along with all the other LIVE video content (including NBC and SciFi!). So what video service does Sony have to announce that can compete with that. Plus, being able to watch movies IN A PARTY with your friends? Crazy!
Was Final Fantasy, and I don't remember a lot of speculation on that anymore, even though it turned out to be true! (Everyone was thinking MGS4 was coming to 360 now that it has been released on PS3, and it still might... next year). And as much as Sony fans try and dismiss the impact of FFXIII on 360...its huge. Some people who own 360's were waiting for this game to get a PS3, and now don't have to. It would be like Sony announcing that Halo was coming to PS3, and we know THAT will never...
You are an idiot.
And not wanting to wait for years to be competitive, they took advantage of their strengths-- money to spend and software creation ability/online (for Xbox LIVE). If Sony or Nintendo had the money to spend, they would do the same thing. Look how big companies like EA, Ubi, and Activision have snapped up smaller developers-- its the way it works. Hating MS for being smart and haveing money to spend is pretty stupid.
Give examples of that "5 exclusives for every one of 360's." Can't do it, can you? Of course not, you are talking out your @$$!
So, just to remind everyone, Gaming is a business. Companies that make games are in it to make money. Perhaps the smartest thing Microsoft did this generation was to release their system first, a system they let developers help design and therefore was easier for devlopers to use, and one that people buy more games for. So now Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto are all on the 360, not just a Sony system. So what? Its not like you wont be able to play FFXIII ...
Is that, as it stands NOW, PSN is not as good as Xbox LIVE, for all the reasons mentioned in the article and more. By having a controlled online ecosystem in which all games have to include certain features, Xbox LIVE is easier for people to use/play/understand on a basic level, but also easier for devs to implement. PSN leaves features sets and implementation up to each individual developer, so some don't include things like voice chat, etc., to save time and $. We have all seen how develo...
That the Too Human demo will be coming. Now people can actually PLAY the game a little before they talk about how crappy (or awesome) it is.
Look past the fact that PSN is free, and realize that you do GET something more by paying for XBOX live. The problems with the online part of Orange Box and the other games listed above IS a result of PSN being an "opem" network-- it is up to EA/Valve to implement things in the online part of the game, whereas games for XBOX Live HAVE to support all of Lives features, and MS provides developers with tools and support. From what I've heard, Sony provides support... but only to firs...
If they were "game specific" they would show up in ALL versions of the game, but the 360 and PC versions have none of these issues (I've played the 360 version extensively). So, for whatever reason, they ARE PS3 specific...
"First, the PS3 version lacks the functionality of its PC and XBox 360 counterparts, as we do not have the ability to create and host private servers (making competitive clan-based gaming extremely difficult); there is no proper lobby system with which to organize players and set up games; the servers that we do have are constantly plagued by lag, making the game virtually unplayable..
Second (and more egregious) are the number of glitches and flaws that remain unpatched i...
That for all the commentary I've read about this game by people who have played it (some people who claim to have played it I'm fairly certain haven't, one person said your upgrades don't show up on your character's model, which is pretty obviously false), this seems to be the most "balanced" take on the game. In other places I see people hacking on it, expecting more from a game that has been in production for "10 years" which is such BS, the game has NOT been in continu...
Is a savy company- they've seen the Wii widening its lead and the PS3 finally catching up. They will have good stuff to announce, whatever it may be. Big games are coming-- Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo, etc., so I look for more future-related announcements (next year) or hardware/software that isn't a game announcements (perhaps being able to surf the web on your 360? New Live interface?) and some Halo- related info that hasn't been seen yet. And, of course, the price drop and 60GB hard drive ...
I will wait and decide for myself. Ninja Gaiden 2 got hammered a bit for poor camera and framerate issues, yet still managed to be the game I wanted it to be and I have enjoyed every minute of playing it (on my third playthrough!) Now, that doesn't mean it DIDNT have some camera and framerate issues, but very few (the stairs) and not noticeable enough to take away MY enjoyment of the game. The thing that gets me in this preview is that he hashes on the look (uh, the game looks fine) and pla...
I work part-time at Gamestop. Wiis- still not in stock. PS3- tiny section, only "good" game is MGS4. 360- out longest, more used games, plenty of great titles coming out this year (Fable 2, GOW2, Halo Wars, Banjo, etc.), and HUGE section of used games. (This is a result, I think, not only of the 360 being out longer, but 360 owners buying more games- therefore trading more games). Gamestop makes most of its money on selling used games, so which system do you suppose we will be ...
All the negative talk gave me second thoughts, but the demo confirmed that this is going to be a great game. Yes, the camera is kind of a pain, yes the controls take some getting used to (and it took me awhile to figure out how to equip stuff, spend skill points, etc., but my wife and kids were distracting me-- it is not hard to figure out) but once things "click" it gets addictive damn quick. Especially once you get some huge, two-handed swords and better guns, then the slaughter ...
