Post actual sales figures for games and then compare them to PS3 games. Especially multi-plat games- most sell better on 360. A lot of your 360 "flops" have sold better than highly-touted PS3 games. By the way, how are Little Big Planet Sales going? Or Resistance 2? Why don't you compare those to the 3 million copies of Gears 2? Also you contradict yourself in your first sentence, which makes you look quite stupid and makes it obvious you dont know what you are talking about. ...
They are raw numbers, which should be pretty close to accurate, but they still don't tell the "whole" story.
1. 360 is selling well and will continue selling well due to one thing: PRICE. You can bring up RROD, lack of Blu-Ray player, no built in wi-fi, and having to pay for LIVE, but Joe Consumer, when he walks into the store to get a GAME CONSOLE for Little Johnny Consumer is looking at one thing: Price. Retailers aren't going to try to talk them into buying a mor...
That would be an obvious, outright lie as anyone with a brain could attest to.
A non-gaming site posts the bare-bones info that fanyboys for MS have been spouting all along, and holy cr@p the gloves come off! Calm down a sec and look at the facts. By this time in its lifecycle, with big games like MGS4 and LBP, awesome sequesl like Resistance 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, the PS3 OUGHT to be doing better. Why isn't it? It is still too expensive, especially with the economy in recession. So Sony, in its infinite wisdom, releases a Holiday Bundle that includes a 16...
Downloadable content. MS might be banking on that, and their industry leadership with LIVE. That way, all you need is a huge hard drive and high-speed internet...
When the 360 is selling more and more this holiday and PS3 sales are sliding (check my post below for why). Also, MS breaks even on every 360 sold and has the highest software and accessory attach rate, while the PS3 still LOSES money on every PS3 sold and has the worst attach rate. This is a business, you know, and that is why MS says they want to compete with Nintendo-- Nintendo is making gobs of money, will the 360 is simply making money. The PS3 has yet to show any positive financial r...
Why is their holiday offering a PS3 with a game no one has heard of (Uncharted) and a 160GB HDD for $100.00 more that their already most-expensive-system on the market when the US economy is in recession and shoppers are more price-conscious than ever?
So whats to disagree about? I work at Gamestop, and the only PS3's for sale are the 80GB model with no game for $399, and the 160GB with Uncharted for $499. Guess what- we haven't sold a single $499 model. Sell dozens of Wiis ...
Is that ALL of the bottom 50 games weren't Wii games. Never in all my years in retail have I had angry customers try and return new games the day after they bought it that since the Wii came out. "This game sucks" "It wont control right" "My kid started crying 'cause it wont work right"-- then when you tell them they can't have their money back for a new game just because they didn't like it, all of a sudden WE are the a$$holes! Nintendo used to have the hig...
Microsoft: Drop price on all versions of system, and for the Pro, include 2 games from Franchises people have heard of-- Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones, for NO EXTRA COST.
Sony: Double the size of the HDD to 160 GB, even though most average consumers wont understand the value of more storage, and include a game most people have never heard of-- Uncharted? Whats that? Then, RAISE THE PRICE $100.00 over the already most expensive system on the market, while the US econo...
Is that the money they make on console sales is just a drop in the bucket compared to software and accessories. Think about it-- they come out with things like wii fit, mario cart, links crossbow training, all games that come with an accessory and therefore cost more that a game alone, and people buy that stuff like hotcakes. The scary thing is that if the Wii keeps going like this, who knows what Sony and Microsoft will do with their next systems? --shiver--
Have you looked at the economy lately? This one factor alone almost outweighs everything the PS3 does have going for it...
1. Microsoft did three things this generation to improve their position in the market vs. the original xbox: released first, brought former Sony exclusives to their system, and established good relations with developers. They succeded on all of these fronts, but not without cost-- coming out first led to a perception that the PS3 is "way" more powerful because it released a year later, although the delay was mostly due to blu-ray not being ready and Sony's insistance that it be inc...
But many industry insiders predict it will soon be more and more common. A couple of reasons for this-- cutting out the "middle men" involved in retail distribution makes more $ for the developer and producer of the games. Shorter dev times, as only part of the game will be on the disc- the rest will have to be downloaded (i.e., those extra Gears 2 maps). More control of content and a decrease in used game sales will supposedly follow, as the only way to get the "complete&qu...
Youll notice that the comparison isn't accurate. One thing THAT coment misses is the fact that under "extras" the Pro and Elite models of the 360 both come with 2 games-- Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones. So in actuality, the 360 is by far the best deal-- especially since if you DONT want things like wireless and hdmi, you dont have to pay for them. Blu-ray is a non-issue for people considering a game system purchase by and large because right now, people have 5 or 6 DVD playe...
To the actual substance of the article. I think this kind of Procedural experience will be the new revolution in games, just like GTA and the whole "open world" concept. For instance, can you imagine a GTA 4-type game where you play co-op online as police officers patroling a city, and the game's AI throws criminals and situations at you based on location, player skill, time of day in the game world, etc? So if you are in a police car with your co-op mates driving through the city...
But some people would point to dismal system sales (vs. predicted) losing more exclusives, (Final Fantasy), Home being delayed again (indefinitely?), the fact that Sony has the most expensive system and is still losing money on every one sold, while Microsoft and Nintendo are making money on system sales, dismal attach rate for games and accessories, most multiplatform games STILL looking and performing better on 360, and say that the PS3, while gaing some ground, can't in any way claim 2008 ...
Seems a little ridiculous to me. But you might be right-- that might be the only good PS3 exclusive next year, now that RE5 and Final Fantasy will release day-and-date on 360...
Every claim you make is false. 360 is outselling PS3 2 to 1, and it will only get worse through the holdays= price is king. With Gears of War, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, Banjo Kazooie, etc., how can you really think that PS3 has more great games? Look at what is selling-- multiplat games sell far more copies on 360 as well! So PS3 makes a little money for EA and Ubisoft, but the Wii and 360 make them a heck of a lot more. And as for "winning the format war" blu-ray sales are not wh...
More the price cut than Fable and Gears, but Novembers numbers could be even more amazing-- add Fallout, Call of Duty, and 2 more exclusives, Banjo, and Left 4 dead.... whoo boy. Does Sony even have any other exlclusive coming out after Resistance 2? If not, that and price could kill them this holiday....
A formerly Sony-exclusive game goes ove to 360 as well, everyone assumes MS wrote a check. Did you read the article, people? The reasons given are quite valid and have to do with money of a different sort-- the money they will make through extra sales of their game. Sounds like a good enough reason to me!
