That the 360 has been on the market for a YEAR longer than the PS3 and the Wii. Price cuts are a natural evolution, so what better time than going into the lucrative holiday season?
Come with a memory card, doesn't it?
And I'll say it again: 360 price cut is good for everyone. First, people who still don't have a 360 can get a great deal on one and take advantage of LIVE, all the awesome 360 games already out and the ones coming this fall. Second, if sales are good for 360 after the price cut, then Sony might drop the price of the PS3 before Christmas, as well, good for everyone who couldn't afford one yet, etc. And if both PS3 and 360 sales numbers pick up after a price drop, maybe Nintendo drops the pr...
But if the price drop DOES have a positive effect on 360 sales, and people who have been waiting to get one get a good deal, why is that bad? A boost in sales might also make Sony drop the PS3's price before Christmas, as well. Cheaper= better, more money for games, so this could benefit all gamers in the end...
Line is so idiots don't try to claim they should get and elite model for that price, since the 360 has different sku's. If you worked in retail at all you would know that people will try anything to get a better deal, thus the disclaimer.
Is talking only about sales at their stores, which being the #1 games-only retailer in the world, will carry some weight. Reason they are so confident is that their profit model is based on used product, and right now, the 360 has the most quality used games available. So since Wii's are still impossible to find, Gamestop employees will point out the great deal a new $199.00 360 + used games is, sell them a subscription card, and call it good. I know- I work for Gamestop, and since the pri...
That TOOL might actually release a concert DVD now? Fingers crossed...
This guy has never worked in retail. I work at Gamestop, and the price cut does not take effect until the 7th (Sunday) but already we've seen dozens of people who have heard the news coming in to pick up a 360. (Most aren't even mad when we tell them that the price drops Sunday, and one guy bought one anyway, even knowing the price was dropping $50.00 in less than a week!) And this is BEFORE the official add flyers come out in this Sunday's paper-- after that, all bets are off.
Apparently people don't get it. Perhaps the Xbox 360 games named in the article are the "best" in quality as well, I would put Gears 2 against any game released already or through the holiday season. My point is this-- these analysts look at "the gaming" industry from an investment point of view. Yes, sales=sales, so whoever sells the most copies of a game makes more money than a game that sells less REGARDLESS OF THE QUALITY OF THE GAME. Since as of now the 360 has the...
IS that people will STILL be buying a PS3 for just a Blu-Ray player this holiday, then say it. It sounds like you are talking about lots of Blu-Ray movies being sold, which would be to anyone owning any type of Blu-Ray player, not just PS3's.
until the numbers are out. But you also have to consider the games already released. 360 has more, with heavy hitters like Gears 1 (whic people who buy the console for Gears 2 will be likely to pick up). PS3 is coming on strong, though, so MGS4 + LBP and a new Resistance game will help, also people will pick up Resistance 1 who see the ads and buy a PS3 for Resistance 2.
"Anyone who can agree with this is" you lose all credibility. It's all just opinion until the numbers are released, and everyone is entitled to have one. These guys are paid to predict market trends, etc., so if they aren't right at least some of the time, but more likely most of the time, they would be out of a job, no?
Market trends and hard numbers. Gears 1 sold over 5 million copies on 360 2 years ago, the install base is now alot larger, so 6-7 million copies of Gears 2 is not an unreasonable prediction. He is referring to best exclusives as in number of copies that will sell, not "best games." What game on PS3 has sold over 5 million. Anyone? MGS4 is just over 2 million- not even half. So if you look at it that way, they are dead on. 360 still has overall install base lead on PS3, and 3...
Have to do with the article? The Wii will sell more systems than anyone anyway, people are already buying them and hiding them in the closet for Christmas.
A link to back that up. You are wrong.
There are more 360's out there in the wild than PS3's, so chances are that Gears 2, Fable 2 and Banjo will sell a lot more copies. It has already been proven that 360 owners buy more games that either Wii or Ps3 owners, and some people bought PS3's just as Blu-Ray players (they were the cheapest Blu-Ray players on the market for a long time, remember) so no way do the 360's big games get outsold by any PS3 game. And note: this is not saying that 360's games are "better", all of th...
That I fell for this from Best Buy and pre-ordered Disturbed's last album to get 3 free downloads for Rock Band. They were supposed to be for BEFORE the album dropped, and to this day I STILL HAVE NEVER RECIEVED THEM. So order at your own risk.
When you mention something about a sister mag getting stiffed out of a first review in the opening sentence, how can anyone take what you have to say seriously with such an obvious axe to grind? What a bunch of losers.
Is that people want/expect reviews to line up with what they personally feel about a game/movie/CD etc. When they don't, they think something is wrong with either the review or their take on the game. If you like a game, play it. A lot of people hate on Halo 3, but it was everything and more than what I expected and one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Along the same lines, I don't get the whole MGS4 thing. Too many cutscenes, it seems like the game is in black and white the...
Remember that the PS2 and original xbox sold the most at $149.00 or less....
