Does Microsoft NEED to be successful in Japan, or just maintain a presence there? In a very good article I read once, (can't remember when or where, sorry) someone "in the know" claimed that the original xbox was finally approved by Bill Gates in its final form as a living room video game console (over his objections that it be windows-based, which the xbox team refused to consider) because of the threat of Sony, and to a lesser extent, other gaming companies (Sega, for one) becomi...

We should send this bi^ching and moaning loser to Iraq so he can decide what he REALLY enjoys more, the entertainment of a video game war, or being stuck in a real one. If games accurately portrayed what war was like, no one would want to play them.

But the PS3 is not "selling well" in Japan, and I think the PS3 price drop in the USA will just do more to confuse consumers and retailers than help things. Sony removes features from their cheaper systems (such as backwards compatibility, usb ports, wi-fi), while at the same time, the 360 has added two free games and HDMI out to the pro system, a wireless controller, HDMI, a 256meg memory card and free arcade games to the Core (now the "Arcade Pack"). So the "Cheap...

Which PS3 and which 360? LOL

Part of the reason that the Wii is doing so well is because it doesn't have a bunch of bundles, which seem to confuse the average consumer. The multiple versions of PS3 and 360 are hard to figure out as far as which is the best deal. I think it is interesting, however, that different versions of the PS3 "remove" features such as backward compatibility and wifi, while the 360 bundles "add" things, such as the Pro system coming with everything it always did (wireless contr...

Because the PS3 has trouble running games developed on the 360 first... due to "memory limitations," the code that runs fine on the 360 has to be broken "into chunks" to work on the PS3. PS3 developed games port over to the 360 easier, because it can "handle" them... don't get all excited thinking that the PS3 versions of games that are still multi-platform will look or perform better; that's not the point. The point is that now, in order to get multi-platform...

PS3 versions of multiplatform games being delayed, one after another, or being released with inferior specs (30 fps vs. 60 fps.)? Thats what I see... apparently something to this then, eh?

Is that there are some definte facts here, but they are mixed with some obvious bias, so a little harder to beleive. But he is far from the first person in the industry to say the same thing-- John Carmack of ID and Gabe Newell from Valve, 2 very well known and well respected members of the development community have said much the same thing. Guess what- both are developing for the PS3. The point is, that games developed for both systems that are "started" on the 360 and then &qu...

Of games like Mass Effect, Too Human, Alan Wake, PGR 4, Lost Odyssey, just to name a few? And what does the PS3 have coming out THIS YEAR? Lair and Warhawk didn't do so hot, eh? There will be plenty to play on 360 for the rest of this year, and adding a couple more big games for next year only sweetens the deal. Don't blame M$ for these games going to 360, which eventually they both will, blame Sony and its over-priced under-delivering blu-ray player, its low installed base and low attach...

Why WOULDN'T SquareEnix and Konami want to bring there big games to the 360? The 360 has a larger world-wide install base than the PS3 and will for a considerable amount of time, M$ will almost certainly give them a bunch of cash, 360 gamers WANT these games on the 360, and Sony "doesn't pay for exclusives." Next gen games are expensive to develop, and according to NUMEROUS developers, especially on the PS3-- so to make any money on these games, both of which have HUGE budgets, th...

Will be the ability to take "snapshots" from both co-op and multiplayer, and email them with captions to my friends that I will be playing with religiously-- just imagine, you stick your buddy on the head with a spike grenade, take a picture just before it blows him to kingdom come, and email/send him the picture with a smarmy caption like "Nice hat" or "Way to use your head, BOZO!" The competion to come up with the funniest screenshot/caption will be just anoth...

At first I wasn't sure why this news makes me feel so sad. I loved the CMR games since I got 04 on my Xbox and realized how much more realistic is was that Ralisport Challenge, I even started watching WRC events on speed until they stopped showing them in the U.S. My car is a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart edition, and I love it, so looking back at why I bought that car, how much I enjoyed playing DiRT, and my relatively new-found love for motorsports in general, I realized that it all goes back...

But got an xbox to play Halo and Jet Set Radio Future, because neither game was on PS2. As time went on, I found more games on Xbox that I liked than games on PS2, some exclusive (like Ninja Gaiden and Fable) and some that just looked better on xbox (all GTA games) even though they were out for both systems. So, basically, get the system(s) that have the games on them you like, and you will be happy.
One other thing to mention, though-- working at Gamestop, I get a dual view of the...

Is that for Halo 2, we (I am a Gamestop employee) WERE allowed to open the boxes early, the day before, to be exact, to prep for our midnight opening. Anyone who works where games are sold can back me up on this, but games come packaged in groups of 4, then 4 of those boxes in a bigger box, then THOSE boxes in a case, all of them glued/ sealed practically airtight, with the case boxes then taped with orange tape that says "DO NOT SELL UNTIL..." with the release date printed on it. ...

Metacritic.com. Look up Halo and Halo 2, then look up Killzone, and compare their scores. These are AVERAGE scores taken from dozens of professional game review sites and magazines. Halo and Halo 2 blow Killzone out of the water. When the original Killzone was being developed, it was referred to repeatedly at Sony's "Halo Killer," but actually turned out to be "Halo Fodder." So, sorry Shoe, you can't convince ANYONE that having those 2 games win opposite awards is som...

Will the whole damn mess just start all over again when the website goes live? Does EVERYONE who logs in in the next 24 hours get in FOR SURE, do you still have to answer 3 trivia questions? And what if you can't get into the site in the next 24 hours? I remember how people complained about haveing to buy Crackdown to get into the Halo 3 beta, but Crackdown is an awesome game I would have bought anyway. They should have made it so if you pre-ordered COD 4 you got a token, or something lik...

That referenced in many reviews are the plot twists that, along with the innovative weapons/plasmids and atmosphere, are what make Bioshock the best game of the year so far. If spoilers start being leaked all over the internet, etc., it really would be unfortunate if people who would rather NOT know accidentaly have the game ruined for them. I hope N4G would not post any "spoiler" type articles at all about Bioshock, but if they feel they must, at least make it obvious they contai...
