I too haven't experienced any lag in Firefight, and I was playing with a couple buddies, one whom lives in Japan (I'm in California). Then again, I haven't played a lot of Firefight and connections between Japan and the North American West Coast seem to be decent, so who knows.
For those having problems, remember to check if your NAT is open.
Regardless of the medium, it's still science fiction. Haven't you ever seen any of those TV shows that discuss the science (if any) behind Star Wars and Star Trek? It's kind of an interesting topic. A lot of things are theoretically plausible, including lightsabers and plasma shields.

Actually, I played a sick amount of UT2K4 back in the day. UT is nothing like Halo, or any other FPS for that matter, which is why I enjoyed it. It still doesn't have those epic moments I'm talking about, though. Cool things can happen in any FPS, but not like it does in Halo.
I like how you assume I haven't played many games based on my Halo experience. Seriously? I started playing games on the Intellivision and Atari 2600. :P
I was a Halo hater before I played Halo:CE with some friends one day. From then on I was a believer. We'd have all-night LAN parties with up to 3 Xboxes hooked up on 3 different TVs, and CTF matches on Blood Gulch that would last up to 3 hours. It was some of the most fun I've ever had on a video game with friends. Period. Unfortunately, not everyone has shared the same experience with their friends, so I don't expect everyone to "get" why people like me love Halo so muc...

Because not every company out there is greedy. There's a lot of free-to-play MMOs out there that generate income the same way, using an online store. There's a lot of people that jack off to virtual items. There's like 20-some people that currently make US$5000 a month by selling virtual assets for the game Second Life. The market is definitely there. Blizzard has unfortunately caught on to this. Now, not only do they ask for a monthly fee, but offer an online store as well.

Maybe they're real gamers, who play games for fun, regardless of graphics. Or maybe they have a love and respect for Nintendo since they revived the video game industry after the crash of '83. I still play games from decades ago. While consoles eventually die, great games live on. That's why I laugh at the people who get caught up in these console wars. You're only hurting yourself by devoting yourself to one console.

If you read more than just the title, you'd learn that there's a way to prevent the "mandatory" update from updating your system.
Actually, there is a war, and it's been going on since as early as the 13th century. Battles will be won by people trying to stop piracy, but they will never win the war. Maybe when people stop killing each other and Hell freezes over, but don't hold your breath.
