Digital version is same hardware but cheaper.
Question is, do devs WANT to optimize for Series X? MS has an uphill battle with this. Publishers all last gen saw games selling far less on the platform due to Sony's incredible lead, so they probably allocate less resources to Series versions of games, especially considering that they have to develop two different versions. It's becoming evident no one is going to spend the time to squeeze every bit of performance out from the XSX that they can, if it's not going to make a ROI. ...
I think it's devs not seeing specific optimization as being worth their time or investment.
I don't think devs feel like putting the extra time into optimization when it won't make them any extra money. When multiplats just go for parity, any extra power is just not being utilized. Unfortunately, even if XSX is significantly more powerful, we'll probably see games running worse than PS5 if it doesn't sell enough to warrant the publishers giving a shit. Really unfortunate and not fair to gamers. Makes you think, how would these companies act if there was only one cons...
I think the problem is that third party developers might not want to spend the time to optimize their titles to take full advantage of either console if it's multiplat. At the very least, not on the Series X anyways. Install base is too small, Sony will undoubtedly have more units out, so it's not worth their time. It kinda sucks, because if it continues all gen, what does it matter how much more power the Xbox has if the devs think it's hardly worth the time? That's one of th...
Same. I've owned pretty much every major console since the NES era, outside of like, Neo Geo and TurboGrafx (but have surely emulated them), and it's just amusing how bent out of shape people get over their preferred box. I love my Switch, PS4 and Series X right now lol. PS5 will come once the single player library is fleshed out and cheaper.
Did you get a new one? Wife, I mean.
Bad code can certainly brick hardware. At least to the level where the average user can't fix it. Hell, even if a game makes you have to recover your new console/restore it, that's still completely unacceptable. I've had this game shut down my Xbox multiple times, and I refuse to boot it now. Uninstalled until the matter is addressed, explained why it's happening, and fixed.
It's smart. Doesn't take alot of work compared to a new title, and video game media is going to cover graphical differences, giving it attention. Also, with BC, why wouldn't people want to play better looking versions of these games? I still haven't gotten around to playing Exodus, despite loving the first two games, but I will after the Series X version launches.
Problem is, there will always be enough people who have the money to not care about paying double MSRP. To some people, that extra $500 might as well be pennies, and worth them not having to even take the time to try to obtain a pre-order. Sucks, but hey. People can do whatever they want with their money. Ebay and other companies should step up and enforce their TOS. Namely the one that states that buyers HAVE to ship items within 30 days of accepting payment. Every single pre-order on ebay f...
Valhalla is actually pretty amazing. Better than Odyssey, better than Black Flag. I know people adore the story in 2, but this might be the best game in the series.
I don't think I'd waste my time or the space on my console even if it was free; This entire IP is not very good lol.
I think they will support it as long as it is selling as well as it is. It's now their second best selling home console, behind the Wii. Not including Gameboy or DS lines. The longer it continues to sell, the more time it gives them to get the tech ready for a successor.
I'm looking at a list of titles on Wikipedia. Apparently Nintendo has published more than 50 titles, and developed 20 of them internally over the last 3 1/2 years. It's not like they've been sitting on their asses.
DLSS seems more likely.
With the wild success of the Switch (it is their second best selling console of all-time already), I believe they are going to keep the Switch as similar as possible, just with more power. More storage, higher quality screen(no higher than 1080p), joy-con revision. It will use DLSS, be backwards compatible and have a better battery. Their best bet would be just to make a Nintendo Switch 2. With the new leadership at Nintendo, I think they're going to play it safe and not mess up a good th...
DLSS exists. Only need to render at 1080p for a 4k image. I'm certain that it will be on all consoles in a few years. There will be no need for native 4k resolution when no one will hardly be able to tell the difference, and you can get significant boosts in other areas, like frame-rate and more ray-tracing.
I don't think people understand how much AI is going to change the industry over the next ten year period.
The next Switch will be DLSS compatible. AI upscaling is going to be industry standard within a few years, with AMD working on their solution, supposedly working with both Series X and PS5. Get better performance out of consoles with less resources spent in development.
I'd be surprised, considering Switch is getting Rise (cannot WAIT). MHW definitely brought the series' attention to a much more mainstream audience. Unless they were planning on a MHW2. I feel like the Iceborne DLC approach is much more welcomed by fans than having to buy an Ultimate Edition every time a year later, as well. Although I still did with 3, 4 and Generations xD
Goddam, why is Monster Hunter so good.
You can use an external SSD for the Series X though, if you wish. Even though just for storage, you can move large games to be playable within minutes. Searching for similar gen 4, NVMe cards, they're in a similar price range for internal drives. They're not cheap on PC, and aren't going to be cheap for XSX or PS5 either.
