I would rather have a power brick than RROD. In a perfect world the Xbox One would have an internal power supply, but if a power brick akes the hardware more reliable and long lasting than so be it

10 years ago xbox 360 did not exist so I assume you are referring to the original Xbox; in which case you are wrong it did not have a power brick.

I suggest getting a life beyond video games or a hobby room with more than one tv if you need that many consoles hooked up to play old games

yep, the original layout with the controls in reach of your thumb was much better. To bad some jackass forgot to include the two docking ports next to the headphone jack on the chatpad design and MS had to introduce the inline setup.

I always assumed wireless headsets would have been the included standard with the new generation of consoles. I think both Sony and MS messed this one up, but at least MS went back to the old style with the buttons at the controller.

Glad to see MS is going back to the old style with the volume/mute controls at the base of the controller. Never understood why they went to that crappy inline setup when they introduced the chatpad. This is much better than the chintzy earbud thingy Sony is including.

It was a man's machine, not some kiddie Nintendish toy or generic go with the crowd Playstation. It was a serious system that wasn't mainstream and hampered with gimmicks and Kinect.

If Arcade games and full games are mixed in the same marketplace with no seperation how will anyone know what the're buying? How would you know if its a short Arcade game that can be played easy on the quick or a full length game with an immersive story. It seems to me to make sense to differentiate them.

300,000 servers used to store data makes sense given that Kinect is a data mining tool that can collect marketing data to sell to third parties. With the cable box being plugged into the One and mandatory Kinect MS will have a gold mine in information to sell. They will know how popular channels and tv shows are. They will know how many people were in the room watching said shows. They will know how many people got up from the ads or watched them and thus how effective they were. The One...

The emphasis on quality build and long life is one thing MS seems to be doing right. They will do whatever they can to avoid another RROD fiasco, and it's evident in the design. A large box with lots of room, external power supply, designed to lay horizontal; all points to increase life. It won't win a beauty contest, but if it lasts ten years than its worth it. After a few years they can see about a redesign that may be smaller with an internal power supply.

"In closing I will add that I do believe that Kinect 2.0 should not be mandatory for the X1 to work this is the sole point I will agree with."

That would be a smart middle ground for MS to take. Include it with every console but not make it a requirement to be plugged in and set up. I understand all the arguments for including it but chaining down the console with a must use accessary that much of the Xbox fan base is turned off by doesn't seem smart. If I ch...

If MS wants to force its Kinect fetish and make it mandatory than they should have at least developed a Kinect exclusive game for launch, something that showcases all the new great capabilities. Ryse could have been it but thankfully MS realized outside of dancing/party games Kinect is pretty shallow. Sure it provides some neat gimmicks, but nothing that would justify making it mandatory. Especially since the features are optional and as MS says, you can turn it off by pausing it.

Hopefully the Kinect will record all that and the rest of us can watch it and laugh our arses off.

You've nailed the real reason for mandatory Kinect. I understand the privacy/spying concerns people have with it in regards to the NSA, but the big issue with Kinect is it will be a data mining tool to allow MS to charge higher premiums for advertising. Example: MS will know how many people were in the room and how many saw the Doritos commercial. MS could also sell data it collects on its own to third parties. Example: how many people watched that new tv show. Think of the implicati...

since Kinect is such an integral component than you must not believe MS when they say you can turn it off

Ryse fact: MS realized Kinect sucked and had to re-invent the game to use a controller instead of making it a next gen Kinect exclusive highlighting how great Kinect 2.0 is.

It will start making money as soon as the targeted advertising made possible by Kinect gets going.

No Kinect exclusive games because Kinect itself is flawed for games; otherwise Ryse would have been the groundbreaking Kinect exclusive instead of being rehashed to use a controller. Even the two announced games are rehashes of ones already put out. Games that aren't Kinect exclusive don't even require the use of Kinect but are instead optional features. MS wants to make Kinect mandatory so they can make money from its data mining and smart advertising features. It will allow MS t...

Interactive porn is the only thing that would make Kinect exciting.

I'd say they already lost their value with to many gimmee achievements and pointless ones that do nothing to showcase achieving anything.
