The Kinect doesn't provide any value to people that aren't interested in its features and don't want it. $100 to voice control my tv...no thanks.

An old argument, but I still believe MS in its arrogance and greed wanted/wants to use Kinect for data ming and smart ad targeting. The true power and use of Kinect is its ability to capture data to sell to third parties and target ads to particular users making it a potential cash cow for MS. This is why they push it so hard without actually having any compelling software or uses to justify its inclusion with every console.

Bad timing. MS started development on the One in 2010 around the same time Kinect was breaking sales records. By the time Kinect sales and software plunged they were already heavily invested in Kinect. They should cut there losses on Kinect and introduce an sku without it. There will still be support for Kinect...for those that actually want it and are willing to spend money on Kinect software. The ones that want it are the ones developers are going to care about anyway.

More of the same lame uses for Kinect. Nothing that can't be done without a controller and "maybe" a few extra seconds. Nothing worth paying an extra $100 for if you wouldn't be willing to buy it seperately. Why do I NEED to talk to my console or have it recognize me? Why would developers utilize Kinect features more just because every console has one? Becuase Kinect is there staring me in the face doesn't mean I'm going to start wanting games that use Kinect. ...

I blame everything on Kinect. It's the reason for the delayed launch in many countries becuase of the voice recognition. They have to re-code the console to not make Kinect mandatory. It's the reason the console costs $100 more than PS4. It's the reason the Xbox One doesn't match PS4 in hardware specs. MS fetish for Kinect is going to be the undoing of the One.

People looking for things to complain and whine about. The title said Orient, as in the Orient Express, referring to the east. It didn't say "The Whore Oriental", as in calling someone oriental. This is like the difference between calling someone African and well, you know. As for the Chinese community take a hike. We'd all be shocked to hear what they refer to everyone else as.

Does anyone know why MS decided to not allow removable HDD's like for the 360? I'm sure MS won't provide an answer.

Xbox One GPU now 853mhz

I would like an explanation as to why MS took a step backwards and made the HDD non-removable. On a side note, it would be inconvenient to use any usb thumb drive (or play n charge kit) when not one usb port is on the front of the console. I suppose we're all supposed to turn the console to have easy access to the one provided on the left side.

was this ever seriously in doubt?

If MS is so adamant about making sure every One has Kinect, than they should lower the price of the console to match Sony and eat the cost. Provide more value for the same price becuase right now Sony provides the better value. I see no value in an extra $100 for Kinect when I have no interest in it or what it can do and would never buy it seperately.

Didn't know PS4 came with move and PS Eye in the box as well for $399. I guess headsets were removed from both systems too.

I'm jealous of Sony fans actually having a console to look forward to and be proud of. As an Xbox fan I forget what that feels like...it's been an awefully long time.

Perhaps you do but many of us don't. For those of us that don't, paying for the Kinect along with the One does not sit well. You like it than buy it seperately. Let the rest of us save $100 in buying a One or risk having a smaller online community from less sales.

After watching I now want Kinect even less than before.

4534d ago 7 agree1 disagreeView comment

I don't see how MS feels the One is worth $100 more just becuase of Kinect. It's nothing but an accessory that allows for novel ways to interact with the interface and as for developers using them for games; that only appeals to those that like Kinect games to begin with. For those that dislike Kinect including it is a turn off to buying an Xbox One since including it may actually require using it.

I wonder if there are any ill effects from having Kinect with it's IR beems shining in your eyes for prolonged periods of time.

4534d ago 13 agree5 disagreeView comment

Kinect doesn't offer anything worth $100 more to most people. Because its required with every console I'm affraid to many aspects of the system and games WILL require use of Kinect. As someone that dislikes Kinect including it turns me off to buying a One, even at a lower price than $499.

Whichever console can replace the cable box and seperate cable subscription entirely will have a huge advantage. Why not provide a cable service directly through Xbox live, in essence having the console itself be the cable box. I don't understand the point in these type of apps if you already have to be a TW subscriber you would already have the cable box to watch tv.
