Thanks to MS insane fetish for all things Kinect and all the time they spent developing for it, they forgot to develop a console powerful enough to be capable of next gen resolutions. Xbox One...not better with Kinect.
How much to get it all assembled correctly? How much time spent downloading drivers, software, etc and optimizing the system? The parts themselves may be cheap, but not all of us want to, or have the knowledge, to go through the hassle of building a PC and getting it to function properly. Ease and simplicity, thats the benefit consoles sell.
Xbone version has to be better because Xbone comes with Kinect. I'm so glad every console comes with one so developers can count on it and develop neat things with it. MS was smart to spend so much effort on Kinect 2.0 leaving the rest of the console sub-par. Just look at how much better Battlefield 4 is on Xbone thanks to Kinect...oh wait, nevermind.
don't fret none, you can hook up an external drive and set it next to your power brick and kinect. Hope you don't mind a cluttered entertainment center.
these three games alone take up over 1/5 hdd space. After taking into consideration the hdd space reserved for system use, you're lokking at roughly 300-350 gb left.
I'm sure the new cheaper 360e model with functionality taken away (optical out port, component/vga support), yet no drop in price didn't help 360 sales.
If true, it matters becuase it shows the power difference between the Xbox One and PS4. Any next gen console should be able to produce 1080p games without problem and no hiccups. If Xbox One has troubles with this now how will things look a few years down the road?
I'm concerned that Xbox One will go back on their 180's and make always online check-ins and Kinect required agian, whether it be through a dashboard update or gradually over time. Increasing talk of and dependence on the cloud could lead to an inevitable always online requirement by defualt. Shoehorning Kinect functionality into as many games and apps as possible so that it needs plugged in to play or use anything could lead to Kinect being required by default as well. A sku witho...
Well said, Sony fans are smply to stubborn and proud to realize this.
Much, much better than PS3 cases. I'm glad the case sleeves go all the way to the top this time instead of revealing a large transparent, empty plastic bar at the top. PS3 case design always felt cheap and unfinished to me.
Why can't Sony come out with a second controller design using Xbox controller stick layout and sell it as an accessory? Give some options and allow those that prefer the asymetrical stick layout of the Xbox the ability to buy a DS4 with it.
What good is it to be able to snap between games and tv if the sound for both is mixed? This being one of the major highlights for the Xbone that MS loves to talk about, I would think MS would have thought of this as a problem and corrected it.
It would have been nice if MS allowed this on the XBone instead of taking a step backwards. With everything having to be installed to the HDD it will get full quick and likely to be the first component to wear out. Support for an external HDD is welcome, but is not as good as being able to swap out for a new one, especially for the OCD types like me that prefe to have as few things as possible clutter up their entertainment stand.
"With only a month away from the launch date, you’d think Microsoft would be pushing harder to help expedite more positive reports in the gaming world."
What positive reports could MS push? They are prematurely launching an inferior piece of hardware at a higher price that has so much negative bagage since its launch it would be a miracle for it to have any edge. What, if any, advantage does the XBone have over the PS4? Unless your into MS's fetish for Kinect...
No, the point is making content dependent on the cloud by default turns the One back into an online required console. Isn't that one of the major 180's MS had to make after E3 because of all the outrage over mandatory check-ins? Depending on the cloud for compute potential to make up for what the One can't do on its own will bring back the online requirement.
How many resources do you expect developers to invest in Kinect when it won't be used on PS4? Too much Kinect "investment" will make anything an XBone exclusive. Besides, not everyone wants Kinect functionality, using it is not necessarily a selling point. It could actually be a turn off to buying a game if Kinect is required in some way. Using it risks only attracting the small percentage of customers that use and want Kinect (ie those that would buy it seperately), sort of...
Predominantly multiplayer at launch, and as time goes on will be more heavily applied to single player. After a couple years everything for the One will require connection to the "cloud" to function. This is how MS will re-implement the always online requirement for the One.
Cloud dependence = online required console. MS backdoor plan to re-implement the always online requirement
Everyone may have the Kinect but doesn't mean everyone will use it...or want to. How many people use and want Kinect is what matters, not how many have it. It would be smart for MS to release a Kinectless sku. They would sell more consoles; mostly to those that won't buy one with it, but also to those that will have the Kinect but won't use it. 40 million consoles sold and 20 million with Kinect sounds better than just 20 million consoles with Kinect sold.
Because it has Kinect, which provides magical experiences, and you can turn the thing on with voice commands. For MS "Xbox On" is more important than native 1080p.
