If all the retailers follow suit, then I guess I won't be getting a system at launch, because
A: I'm not sitting outside camping for anything, and
B: I leave the morning of the 17th for Anime USA, so they'll all be certainly sold out by the time I return home. Bummer. I think Guitar Hero II comes out that week as well, so I'll at least have a little bit of joy :(

It kind of sucks that God Hand isn't on that list for PS2. It's getting no press, but looks like it'll be a blast to play. And although it's been out just over a week, there's Okami too. Can't wait for Guitar Hero II though!
Actually, despite their "bias," they still have the ability to be open-minded about some things. For example:
-They hated the high price, and felt it was a mistake
-They felt that NOT including the Blu-Ray would have been better, as far as selling to a strictly gaming audience
-They were shocked and disappointed by the removal of rumble
-They were quite frank that the controller basically took aspects from Wii's and 360's

I'll agree, it's not like this is the greatest interface ever created. But it does seem to provide all of the functionality I'll need, in a very accessible and to-the-point manner. I don't see how it's something to complain about. And given how expensive both consoles are, I don't see how something as small as this can factor into comparing which one you want. The system-menu screen has little to do with the games you'll be playing on it.
This and Guitar Hero 2 round out my PS2 purchases for the rest of the year, along with Okami. The game doesn't have the greatest graphics. But it looks absolutely fun. And funny.
After Viewtiful Joe and Okami, Clover + Capcom = greatness, in my eyes. Viewtiful Joe was the best (and one of the few) old school 2d platformer the system saw. Okami is the best adventure game on the system. I'm hoping God Hand will be the best brawler as well.
I'm about 12 hours in, and can feel that I'm barely scratching the surface of this game. It's truly a great experience, much like Shadow of the Colossus; it just makes you FEEL like you're playing something special.

Affirmation's always good. I'm happy for you guys; I have a couple of friends in the opposite camp of the "console wars" who will finally get to play this game at home. I'm glad that songs can be downloaded; I always felt that if any game was destined for microtransactions, this was it.

I usually never own more than one racing game, and had my heart set on the next Burnout, but this one's slowly starting to pique my interest. It looks great, and the strategy of which route to take, as well as the sense of hopelessness when on a bike next to a truck should be fun. Given the muddy terrain and many turns, it also prevents the smaller vehicles from just running away, I guess. Sad to see that slowdown about 50 seconds in, but as always, they have time to fix that stuff.
I don't know why anyone would bash a system's ability to play games; it's basically backwards compatability without having the discs . . . I was jealous when Sega signed on, though.
Can't wait to jump back into this series. I'm glad it's coming as late as it is, as I'm busy with Okami now, God Hand hits mid October, Guitar Hero II mid November, then PS3. It'd get lost in the crowd for me if it came out any sooner.
I seriously hope there are more 'boss' fights this time around. And unlike many, I was ok with the length of the first, but a little longer couldn't hurt.
This is absolutely great news. I don't have a PSP (not a fan of handheld gaming), so the linking is pretty much useless to me. But downloading games and playing them on my PS3 will be great. I just hope they charge a reasonable rate, and give the money to the developers, if they're still around.

I'm assuming that the "grilled" front is indicative of some built in microphone or speaker. If not, then it's an odd design choice, I think, given how they focused on making the console so smooth and seamless and shiny.
Definitely agree with it being addictive. I still haven't beaten the second "form" yet :-( It's are really fun game, that you can kind of just . . . zen out to, I guess.
I don't think it's so much complaining about it being loud as it is applauding the fact that it's less loud. When I went from a PS2 to a PSTwo, I DEFINITELY noticed the drop in noise from the system, and was happy about it. When the fan and DVD drive in my computer show whirring, I definitely notice how quiter it gets. It's naturally not a reason to buy a console, but it is a PLUS, none-the-less.

I can live without free demos; I never downloaded any for ps2 or xbox, so I think I'll surivive this gen without them too. As long as it is free for me to play the game online, I'm pretty happy. It sucks that the demos aren't free should you chose to view one, but it's something I think I can live with, given the fact that I have no intention of downloading 50 demos in a year, let alone 10.
What I am curious about is the cost of downloading PS1 games. Because the second Tomba!2...
