Well, if you don't want the larger HD and wi-fi, there's little reason to get the $600 model. If you don't like PS3's exclusive games, or don't care about watching hi-def movies, then there's no reason for you to get a PS3 at all.
What I was trying to imply is that they haven't by any means locked up the release of those games for any significant amount of time, which is what "exclusive" typically implies; that you can't get it anywhere else. I'm not denying that the 360 version will be the best one released this year, but rather, pointing out that PES7 and Fifa '08 will probably be on the system. That's all. If not having those two franchises for its first eleven months kills the ps3, then I'll stand corr...
I'm not too big a fan of soccer games, so my opinion is a bit baised as to how upset I'm going to get.
But doesn't the article specifically state that it's PES6 and Fifa '07? Which release in September? So, essentially, for this year, there will no be a version on the PS3, but next year, there probably will. And there's a PS2, and probably a PSP version coming. How is that "exclusive?"
Typically, launches are comprised of formulaic game releases, with the more creative properties coming later in the system's life. I don't see how you can completely blow off DMC, Lair, AND Heavenly Sword. If they're not your cup of tea, then I understand; but that does not diminish from how good the games will likely be.
I can't think of any game besides Tetris that appeals to nearly EVERY gamer out there; of course most games are an "if it's your taste" experience.

They've dropped it down to 30fps, I believe, to focus on the online and physics.
I'm very excited about picking this game up come launch; the weapons seem really cool. Especially the Sapper. Hopefully the online play is fun, with some inventive modes. I've never been a big fan of gaming online, so I figure this is a good game to get a feel for it with.
Can not wait to play this. This and God Hand (there's a third, new trailer on their site, by the way) have me salivating. Clover can do no wrong.
By all means.
I just want to clarify that I honestly have nothing against 360; I'm just a big fan of a lot of PS exclusives, and the extra stuff they're putting in the box; namely the HDD and wi-fi.
I loves me some VF. This and Soul Calibour will satiate my fighting needs. Now if they'd just release a next gen Bloody Roar and Powerstone . . . ahh, wishful thinking.
13 year old Timmy shouldn't be playing GTA.
But to be serious, the console's out of the price range of a 13 year-old. That's obvious. What I still fail to understand is . . . why in the world is that BAD? How does not catering to children affect what I'm going to have in my living room. The PS has been around over 10 years now; there are a lot of older gamers out there than there used to be. That's who is being targeted this generation.
I've always said it's ...
1. As always, there's a chance I'm wrong, because this is just my opinion. But I think that more than 5% of the population has an HDTV. If not, then at least more than 5% of the actual gaming populace that can afford either console.
and 2. If it is true that 95% of the population has no use for Blu-Ray due to not having HDTVs, and that it is seemingly a waste for Sony to try to integrate it, would the same not stand for the 360, which runs at 720p?
We have a Mitsubishi DLP as well. Nowhere near as expensive as yours though; I'm pretty sure it was under 2 grand
One thing that gets me when people mention the price of the disc, or the time it takes to fully burn one, is that price and time seem to be the only ccomparison. A standard DVD had 4.7 gigs. A standard Blu-Ray disc, what, 25 gigs? That's almost six times as much space, and a new technology at that. Exactly how cheap are people expecting it to be at the get-go?
This is where I"m confused. You clearly admit that Sony's has a massive library over the past years. What other reasoning do you base your gaming preference on? If the first and second party titles I'm looking forward to were on a different system, then I'd buy that system first. But they're not; it's really that simple, and people seem to forget that. I'm not backing Sony because they're Sony, because they have prettier games, or because I dislike Microsoft. I'm backing Sony becau...
The game just looks fun. Faith in the developer, plus the fact that it looks good. As far as "different from any game in the past 5 years," I can only think of one game that has been that, and that was Indigo Prophecy. Every other game just naturally builds upon preset formulas. Doesn't make them less fun or less worth owning.
Give it time. I don't expect games to come rolling out the gate revolutionizing scope and style. Game developers are used to making games a certain way, and especially with cross-platform, that space isn't likely to be fully used. The best use of the space I've seen thus far is with Resistance; they're putting all of the versions on one disc, as well as all of the languages. Not too important; won't change the industry, but it's a use.
I guess I'm used to not expecting wh...
I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but that would be awesome. I'd actually buy the Bleach game if they did that.
The family has a 1080P, mine can handle 1080i. I agree that, for games at least, resolution is not the top priority. My tv's only 30", so I probably wouldn't see the difference between i and p anyways. The one in the basement though, you will be able to tell. But I'm more concerned about res for movies than games. Still; saying the game's running in the highest res possible is still nice to say.
No. According to the game designer: "The entire trailer was rendered in real-time using our PS3 game engine. All of the models, textures, shaders and effects are in-game."

Why are you so upset about how other people are chosing to spend their money? And I, for one, have no intention of buying 3 games at launch; even if there are three good games. I'm getting Resistance, and I might pick up Lair. After that, I'll probably hold fast until Heavenly Sword, God of War 2, or Assassin's Creed; whichever comes first. There's no rush, and I have no desire to buy or try to play 3 games at once. There's a really good reason I only buy one game every 3 to 4 months or ...
