I have dish, a lot of people have digital cable, Tivo's and DVR units.
This is nothing more then ON demand pay-per-view.
I don't see what all the hype is about most of these services can be converted to distribute content in relatively high quality without sacrificing your internet bandwidth.
Digital Downloads aren't all that special if you considered the technology already available by network providers. Sure they can be expanded, but don't give ...
I noticed these are being given exclusively to the press.
Reminds me of how football and political figure heads would get special incentive gifts for favors etc. That may not be the case here but seeing something so rare being given specifically to journalists and reviewers concerns me.
This method does generate positive hype but, to the wrong audience. These reviewers and writers are apparently unbiased and rare gifts like this can be seen as ambiguous attempts ...
Well in my case 360 has a few games I want but don't want to buy a 360. I'm not happy that this product has a high defect rate.
Since I can't get these games and they're exclusive it upsets me that RROD continues.
You do realise what i'm saying here right? RROD does upset people it doesn't necessarily mean you don't care if you don't own a 360 either. There is a conflict because a few games are only available on one console. Since MS hasn't fixed their RROD probl...
Although I'm more a PS3 owner and will buy the PS3 version I see MS pulling a fast getaway here. Don't get me wrong I do agree that people would follow the branding. It's just people aren't realising how desperate situations can cause desperate measures. Let me explain please.
IMHO, A few weeks before GTA4 launch MS will plaster the TV networks with advertisements of GTA4. These adds will point out the exclusive episodic content and benefits only available to the 360 version.

Your missing a lot of hardware. You make it sound like PC gaming is cheap.
No monitor
No DVD drive
No keyboard
No mouse
No internal cables
No speakers.
No power supply.
No Case.
Add all these things up and your system isn't a cheap PC.
Plus you subtracted the cost of the OS. The OS cost almost as much as your hardware investments.
So seriously, don't you think Vista is running on your ...
Today people still follow trends and limit themselves to what big corporate industries force feed them, well most of them.
Perhaps we're our own enemies. I allowed myself to buy a Vista installed computer. So in reality i'm part of the problem. How? For every person who accepts the status quo the strangle hold on the dominate OS tightens it's grip.
It's not 100% the consumers fault either. Manufactures of software and hardware rarely step outside the box to devel...
First off, my comment has nothing against Blu-ray or the format. My grumpy is about hardware. In anycase 360, PS3 and Wii are excluded from this comment.
In todays world high tech devices shouldn't have static firmware. It's just plain stupid that some devices can't be updated. Flash memory is cheap and the technology exist for all electronic entertainment devices to be upgraded. It's simply a waste of hardware if new versions are introduced. If your devices aren't fully compat...
I don't know why people would be upset about this. I proudly stand by my PS3 and said goodbye to 360.
If you think MS has lost completely then step back.
A few things that set back MS.
1. The way they handle themselves, tactics customer service.
2. they want money for everything, nickel and dime. Why can't the live services be totally free?
3. The hardware issues.
If MS makes a new console with reliable ...
Do you realise what that would do?
Yes games can be digital download, but consider the mega games like MGS 50 gigabytes!
Developers would be even more restricted by game size then ever.
Not everyone has 6mb downloads. In some areas they don't even have higher then 19bps in their areas. Do you know how meny people this console would be totally useless for. Just look at the numbers of live subscribers to userbase. At least with a media drive you can ...
A while back sometime last month an N4G member posted a link to a SONY page that was auto-translated. I don't know if it was rumor or a screwup by Sony but it reported that the PS3 40gb new model included compatibility with PS2 format software.
The japanese PS3 60gb models are selling double the price of 40g PS3's in some areas. As a result of the higher interest for full backwards compatibility in Japan this could be something that might happen.
Anyone else see...
The 6 million dollar man wasn't even in his 40's and they upgraded him.
Key point here is with the cost reductions to manufacture a ps3. Why not upgrade the design to farther reduce cost. They could even reintroduce full backwards PS2 compatibility through software on the PS3 40G.
Let's just hope it's not like MS last big announcement. Something to do with digital video downloads.
We?
When you make an opinion please say I or me. Frankly I don't agree with you. I don't need you speaking for me as. Me myself I choose to make my own opinions of what I want.
I've started many games prequels and sequels without completing other versions of the game.
Let's look at the movie industry, Star Wars. When A new hope was released the story about Darth wasn't fully articulated into the first movie. Later on after the success of the first ...
If this is true a port wouldn't be as difficult as some might think. The engine is what makes the game run well.
If Bioware decided to port this the engine would already be there. Just use the story artwork and etc with the PS3 version of the engine. In fact even if the PS3 gets a port in reality this wouldn't be a port because the unreal engine has been optimised for the PS3 already.
It's not like they'd need to recode the entire engine. This looks promising be...
There are a lot of ips that start on one system and move to another.
Look at the Metal Gear series. It didn't start on the playstation the first story started on a Nintendo console. Final Fantasy, GTA and DMC started on other consoles as well.
I'm not saying this is going to happen here but your comment has no solid grounds to stand on when you consider that other franchised games have jumped ship in the past.
That the supply shortages have nothing to do with the console sales? If Bestbuy has huge quantities in stock and MS says their having supply issues, either the supply problem doesn't exist or people aren't buying enough units to consume the constrained supply.
It's common knowledge that if your having shortages it's hard to find products. Since people on N4G have posted proof that stock exist in the US markets in large quantities. It's hard to link the loss of market share in t...
This looks like darksun. Silts Etc.
Someone should hire this person and let him make a world.
I didn't realise the Sony brand was doing so well. Ezcheese thank you for this information.
Numbers like these are hard to deny.
@Inyoumom I seriously don't think your comment should've been posted on this section not only that but you took it personal and called his post idiotic. I take offence to that comment because I happen to respect ezcheez's post.
I noticed that MS placed adds for Devil my Cry 4 amd at the in these adds didn't include the PS3 logos or say "Exclusively on xbox 360." I know this game is multiplatform. Doesn't this seem odd that MS is trying so hard to hide the fact that this game is multi-platform.
I understand that MS is promoting the game but these advertisements are treating it like its an exclusive. Shouldn't Capcom be paying for these adds something is fishy here. It seems as if someone is t...
Sony could make a counter statement saying somthing similar "We have the best hardware to help us win the hardware wars"
A chain is only as stong as it's weakest link. When people choose a console games aren't the only thing to help make that purchase decision.
Games, reliability, cost of ownership, customer service, warranties and usefulness are a few other things to note.
To be the best all these things should be considered. Just tellin...
First off when you read this please forget all console preferences. See this as your being in a contest and a participant is giving judges expensive gifts.
If this participant is giving away somthing to people who vote on him it's not like he's doing it out of kindness. Especially when that something is rare or limited.
If you know anything about political lobbying you'd understand how giving out freebies isn't just about getting people to try something out. It's...
