Maybe not all of those consoles are still in working order. Doesn't MS still counts new units shipped? If you factor in all the RRODS that had to be replaced people wouldn't need new accounts for their returned 360s. So lets assume the stated 33% failure rate and 17 million new 360's shipped. You've got the possibility of almost 6 million (5.61m) units replaced. I understand not all where replaced, some where probably just refurbished units. I'm merely using posted figures and making an educ...

I think you need to look at the RROD issue. MS still hasn't totally fixed their console. Their still selling new consoles with 10% or higher failure rates.

PSN is a work in progress that worked from the start the way Sony designed it. PSN was designed to be upgraded to the same or near quality of Live. The RROD was a defected product from the start the way it was designed. MS is still releasing products with high failure rates and it took them a long time to officaily announce ...

Look at the text in the bottem center. Something like "everytime .. is shipped brings us one step closer to our goals." Rather the more stuff we ship the more popular we're going to be. Studies show that to more pronounced you make yourself the higher influence you have over your environment. This RROD issue a perfect example. The consoles breaking give MS a bad reputation but MS says we support our product and more people are interested.

Take a person who is a disgru...

This doesn't take into account that the original product should've been recalled from the start.

Sure EB is also wrong but MS issued a public statement later after EB issued these warranties. In that statement MS said that they found a manufacture defect on the motherboard.

That clearly defines the product as a manufacture defect. The consoles might have been in perfect working order but the fact remains that the defect was there at the point of sale. EB took a g...

I'm sure there is more to this then just not being a resident of this location. More so that this area isn't regulated by the same legal system as the states. I assume MS knows that EB would have a hard time collecting from legal disputes.

It seems simple, if your a big company and find a way to save money it's easy to write off the customer if their location has lax consumer protection laws. I'm sure MS knows this and has decided not refund the $10 because they can get away wi...

I'm also wondering. The people who used these external warranties got new units back right? Well, MS counted each of those new units as shipped or sales figures. If you think about it these replaced consoles don't remove monthly sales from NPD results.

It's no wonder why. I can't stress this enough RROD hurt the industry but could've helped give the impression that more consoles where shipped then in reality are being used.

Did this article say 10 million? Thats ...

This is sound feedback. Your controller rumbles to the sound. Notice the headset and audio hookups. This converts sound into vibrations. If your playing a game with a lot of music you'll feel the music. It doesn't need to be running a game works for MP3's videos or anything that makes sound effects from the console.

Many developers say that its easier to port a product from the PS3 to the 360. They also state that do to the differences in hardware designing on a PS3 increases development time but also makes it important to not overdo it so the port is equally impressive. You can't really stall development by over optimizating for the PS3 without delaying the 360 port. This mean the 360 versions are sometimes better or equal in quality.

Time constrants limit the optimization on multiple con...

is it pink and have fish kissing each other? That's got to be the funniest company backup disk I've ever seen! It's a wacky art concept to show fish kissing on a technical product. If you think about it's saying love all over it.

I assume it backs up data to the USB or flash card. Maybe it transfers the Wii image to another Wii.

Not long ago this industry had little power. Now that games ave become more interactive and etched into society it's more difficult for people to talk trash about the industry without harming their reputations.

I think this is a good thing though. It gos to show you how we as gamers are finally to the point where political and/or popular figures are more careful how they try to spin this industry. Attack it without proper merit and you'll likely suffer casualties in the process...

You have a high profile industry insider that can't release stuff to the public so he passes it on to someone outside the industry that can't easly link him to the leaked information. Fairly simple if you ask me. The problem is not everything they pass along has a 100% chance of comming to term. All this news does is hype the information and could actually be a plant by the industry to see the public reaction to the rumors posted by surfer girl.

It could also be an insiders wif...

Does this have to do with this topic. Your just spamming offtopic rants unrelated to the topic. There is a place for this in the blogs section.

Keeping on topic. This does't mean it's the PSN servers or any fault Sony. I know PPPoE has a lower MTU then PPPoA. The packets have extra protocol data that limits the packets. Check Broadbandreports.com if your need more information.

These things should automatically set themselves up with a good router but the truth i...

Each PS3 has a serial number when you sign on. It doesn't matter how many accounts you have these unique numbers are registered to each PS3 once a user logs on. It'd be easy to detail the actual units just by ignoring the user accounts entirely and taking a into consideration these unit serial numbers. This'd make it easy to differentiate the multiple account users with actual consoles.

Say I have 5 accounts and 2 PS3s.

On the first ps3 I have accounts 1, 2 and 5...

Extreme Beach Volleyball causes enlarged prostate in younger male audiences?

Already several news regarding games.

1. GTA made me do it!
2. Doom was the reason.
3. MS flight simulater was used to train hijackers in 911 WTC attack.

Please don't find it distasteful but number 3 was definitely true. So people can link games to distructive activities. In this case the under age ratings wouldn't have done squat.

If this is the case you have to ask yourself. Has uncharted made a profit yet as a title. If the answer is no releasing it for next to nothing would hurt that game. Now if it's turned a profit then releasing it in the bundle won't cost them nearly the $60 retail.

It is a mess with so many skus. You for one can't argue that PS3 is alown in this multiple SKU situation.

I don't think I can count all the Xbox skus on one hand either. Look a the PC market and the Vista software how many versions of that are there let me see.

Vista basic
Vista home
Vista Business
Vista Ultimate
Vista Home 64
Vista Business 64
Vista Ultimate 64.

Now look at the 360.

Maybe that recent N4G article about Sony hiring a software engineer to deal with BC has made a discovery that allows the non-chipped PS3s to FULLY software emulate the PS2 using the CELL.

If this is the case the PS2 chiped consoles will not be needed and the 80g can be discontinued completely in favor of full software compatibility even in unchiped 40g PS3's. A simple firmware update could be the next announcement. People who own 40g would be in for a shock.

I was playing PS1 games on my PS2 up until last year. If people seriously think that BC is a stupid concept the why are people buying classic titles off PSN. Why are people paying big bucks for Wii clasic titles. Those aren't next gen but if they aren't worth anything then why are people still buying them.

I have extensive PS1 and PS2 library. I believe in choice. I think BC should have another model and if it cost about $50 more i'm willing to pay for it.

If you...

I disagree with your BC isn't needed.

This is totally your opinion sure it can be lived without but not everyone feels the same way as you. I don't care if you can own a separate console for PS2 games or what not. Most people want a choice when upgrading. If they think BC is important more $100 power to them. If they feel the same way as you they can also buy the low end model.

Your like ford when the Model T was released. It was only black and no features at ...
