When I played FF7 I loved it but after one event things just went down hill. If emotion is balanced later in the game I'm happy with it.
X-2 is A fine example of how depressing endings can be used to bring people back from sad parts of games. The dread in FFX when nearing the end and the Joy of the 100% ending in X-2 are wonderful uses of emotion. Not having balance though makes me cringe.
Hopefully this doesn't become the norm. DEVS rushing out partial games because they can patch it later. When GT2 was bugged DEVS couldn't just write an update to patch the game. They instead had to send everyone a fully remastered CD.
It's sad if buggy incomplete software makes it to consoles. Whatever happened to the high standards that devs once maintained? Now that we have the Internet and ability to patch every mistake missed by the quality control it appears to be being ab...
I think this is wonderful for all walks of life.
I'm a little optimistic that the life of these cells will be comparable to standards li-ion batteries. How long will they maintain their recharge capacity. If it can only be recharged 50-100 times it'll be extremely expensive.
Oblivion on the PS3 didn't even use the cells potential. From what I read Oblivion didn't use the SPUs at all. If EA did make ME for the PS3 and actually used the features of the cell it'd hard to imagine the possibilities.
Saying the PS3 version runs better when the DEVs didn't even use the SPUs makes me wonder what this game would do on the PS3.
When a news editor rushs stories out to be first for more clicks they should know better then write FUD.
What this amounts to is early readers seeing false information that sticks with them. Unless these people check the article over or read other sources this is fact to them. The damage has already been done. The site posted false claims and generated incorrect news causing them to lose credentials.
Their credibility has just dropped as they seem to care more ab...
I think this is low upon low. If comments like this where made about a person or say US canidate that person could be sued for slander.
Internet news writers should be held accountable for what they post as news. If you write a damning article that contains lies about a product you should be liable for it.
If you see news about a product being disfuctional and it isn't this does lower consumer confidence and product reputation.
Is this article in F...
With techeads these days it's no wonder good games go ignored.
Techeads are basically casual gamers that are more interested (hardcore geeks) in specs then actually how good a game is. Be a gamer first and a techie second you might actually enjoy yourself.
It'd be a consumer nightmare to have another PS3 sku that dwarfs the 60g.
If Sony does the same thing SEGA did (launching 32x, Saturn, and Dreamcast without giving consumers a chance to attach to one format) It'll have the same effect on consumer confidence as SEGA last gen. How well did that end?
From a consumer standpoint this is a nightmare. You spend $ on a new console that you expect to last and it's dumped. New games are sold on this next model and your SOL.
Sorry but IMHO this isn't happening. As for Sonys new OLED portable devi...
The most popular games on 360 are mostly FPS. 360 is full of them and people are buying basically the same things on 360. Of course it's going to have a high attach rate. The popularity of FPS on the 360 practically own the user base for the 360.
A little to the side with Lives enhanced unified online experience, PS3 having a smaller user base and most importantly the PS3 getting overpriced inferior ports. It's no secret why PS3 has lower attach rates. Add these up and you have...
Sales aren't that horrible, you need to consider the market is currenty flooded with games now and for most players this means money is spread thin across multiple platforms. The prices these days for games limits most people into choosing one game a month. This normally means buy what their most interested in or what's popular first.
It's also seems like the high tech of this gen is attracting the wrong audience. First off you have casual gamers, hardcore gamers and techead ga...
@Real Gamer
What you've said about games costing more to make is true but you've missed something. I the old days games where more of a nitch audience. Today you can't walk down the street and meet someone who hasn't played a video game. Cost are higher but the install base is also many many times larger.
Lets look at PC games they're still selling for roughly $40-$50.
This is where the companies make games and sell the consoles at a loss planning to make...
It's not the same IMHO. Don't get me wrong 360 is out selling PS3 in the US.
Dreamcast and Sega ruined their consumer confidence right about after the 32x. They rapidly released new consoles into the market without gaining 3rd party support. Consumers just got sick of how short the lifecycle of the 32x and Saturn where. Dreamcast just lost to much and didn't have the financial backing like Sony has today to stay in the race.
Sony is rolling out first party exclus...
1. I beleave Sony would do a lot better if PSN was more advanced like Live.
2. If devs stopped sabotaging multi-platform games. (poor ports)
3. The ingame messaging and music where added to firmware.
Live seems to be a strong point of 360. Unfortunately you need to pay for it. The unified Live format has several advantages even low profile games easily get voice chat.
It all comes down to Playstation price, performance, quailty and g...
It all depends on how adds are placed in games. If your in a fantasy world like GT or GTA billboards and signs that add to the games reality are fine but once you start seeing popups in games like Final Fantasy or R&C to promote real world products it draws the line.
Does it lower the cost of the game experience? If it does then it should also offset a portion of the games value.
I think what really needs done is to limit big brother companies and let the gaming public rate the games they've actually played.
Letting big corporate companies like Cnet or Ign decide how good a game is based on 1 or two professional reviewers allows outside advertiser to influence ratings.
If your getting your paycheck from CompanyX or have invested interests in it, are you really going to ruin it's reputation?
Real players decide what they wan...
When I see ratings from a magazine or site that isn't multplatform I expect better reviews.
I'll try and explain this. Reviews from a 360 site rate their games vs other 360 games. With a multiplatform site games are rated vs. other games and the consoles their used on. This could mean a company cuts scores on one console and inflates them on another. It's like this R&C reviewer who is a sports reviewer trying to give fair reviews to a platformer. It just doesn't work IMHO.

Zhuk, I'd like you backup what you just wrote. I see nothing but conjecture and personal opinions from your post.
Please, before you post put some effort in backing up your opinions. You made that post as though everything was fact.
Everyone here seems to agree that this system is dirty.
I still think sony should clean it up and replace it to shut this guy up. A few months ago a *stress test* was done on a ps3 to indicate how reliable ps3 hardware was. Everyone, including Sony ate this news up. So this kid managed to break his ps3 thinking it was a tough reliable system and sony won't backup the warranties.
I'd think Sony would jump at the opportunely to shut this guy up and use this ps3 as ...
Mu5afir, I don't see why you wasted a reply to me when you just confirmed my exact statement. I'm saying that there will come a time when blu-ray is to small and it will also hit a wall like some devs are pointing out now with dvd9.
With PS3's 8 year lifespan that wall might be closer than we think. My point about compression is if or when blu-ray gets filled up and needs compression like dvd9. What will people be doing with the dvd9 limited consoles to compete?

If Sony managed to upgrade it's PSN to the same level or better then 360s Live while maintaining these strong first party games it'd be extremely hard to compete with. As is, Live appears a major advantage maintaining its popularity in the US market over PSN.
Most people who favor 360 enjoy the Live service and would appreciate the same capabilities on PSN. It'd seem a few upgrades to the PSN would improve PS3 console sales based on what I've seen posted on other boards.
