It looks good. Lighting, particle effects, motion blur--all look good. But the textures do not look impressive at all. A few of the ground textures look good, but there are also many that don't.
The people saying this looks better than any game out there simply have no real grasp of the technology behind modern games.
In my opinion, those people should get banned. I f-n despise pirates!
This isn't very surprising. Microsoft have always tended to reveal their games closer to the time that they will be released. Sony tend to reveal their games far in advance. For example, Gears of War 2 wasn't announced until February of this year (less than 9 months ago). I am sure Microsoft have lots of nice things up their sleeves for us in 2009.
Yeah, 'cause we know that there aren't any other multi-platform games that look worse on the PS3. /sarcasm
You guys who are claiming to have played both versions and are saying the PS3 version looks better are either hopelessly biased or you need to get your eyes checked.
What it shows is that with great development talent and large first-party game budgets you can create games for the PS3 that are equal to some of the better 360 games.
We know that the PS3 is pretty close to the performance of the 360. That's not the issue. The issue is that it takes a significant amount of time and money to achieve that equal performance. And only the biggest budget first-party exclusives will be able to do that with any consistency.
Yes, Cell has 256MB of XDR, but what you aren't telling people is that there is a speed penalty (i.e. latency) if RSX tries to access that. The unified memory architecture of the 360 is superior because both the CPU or GPU has full access to the memory without any speed penalties. Not to mention that the 360 functionally has more memory to work with since the operating system has a much smaller memory footprint.

Undoubtedly the xbox1 was more powerful than the ps2.
But what you neglect to mention is the fact that ALL the multiplats were better on the xbox1 than the ps2.
There was no excuses, no blaming developers, no waiting and waiting.
There was just better results on the xbox.
That is why the xbox is said to be more powerful than the ps2.
Contrast this to the current gen. ...
The fact is, out of all the reviews for Fallout 3 that have come out so far there have been several that point out the overall inferiority of the PS3 version, but not a single one that claims the 360 version to be inferior. The reviewers either don't really go into any detail about the differences between the two console versions, or they specifically state that the PS3 has more bugs and looks somewhat worse.

First of all, there is no proof whatsoever that Microsoft have paid to get every bit of exclusive DLC content that has come to their platform. We know they have paid to get exclusive content in a few cases (e.g. GTA4), but there are plenty of reasons a developer might choose to create exclusive content for one platform and it doesn't always come down to direct money payments. The PS3 is reportedly getting exclusive DLC for Mirror's Edge, does that mean Sony paid them gobs of money to get it...
Thanks for that honest analysis cwiis. I own both consoles and I compared both versions of Mirror's Edge and came to the same conclusions as you. The PS3 version had noticeably more jaggies, more instances of screen tear, a stuttering frame-rate in some places, inferior lighting and relflection effects, and overall simply looked a little fuzzier. The Xbox 360 version is definitely the better version overall. However, that isn't to say that the PS3 version looks bad. PS3 owners are basica...
Cool. I can't wait for the NXE. I hope I get in.
Too bad the Japanese haven't shown the same love for HD consoles.
This really goes to show how great the first Fable looked. The Xbox was so much more powerful than the PS2 it was almost like a half-generational jump. Anyway, I can tell you one thing--this video doesn't give a clear impression of how the game looks in real life. I'm telling you, when you see Fable 2 on your HDTV it looks beautiful. It looks worlds better than the first Fable. The art is much better, the lighting effects, particle effects, textures, foliage, and architecture all come to...

"PS2 had a high failure rate and Sony did nothing. Xbox 360 had a high failure rate and MS takes care of its customers. MS > Sony.
"What do you think would happen if the ps3 had a 30% failure rate?
It would be out of business"
#1) The Xbox 360 heat issues were resolved in Summer 07.
#2) All owners who have a problem get a free fix.
#3) The failure rate isnt near 30%, that is made-up internet garbage. The rate ...
Yeah, you're right, IGN just lie to us and tell us multi-platform games look identical on both platforms, even when they don't (cough, Bioshock, cough, cough). I can't tell you the number of times IGN (and other gamer review sources) have claimed that a cross-platform title looks the same on both consoles (360 and PS3) only to later do my own comparison and find that there were substantial differences between the two versions.
As a dual-console owner I am sick of reviewers lyi...
Both the 360 and the PS3 can render at 1080P resolution. However, very few games on either platform do. Very, very few PS3 (and 360) games do. Got it?
That said, I have found that on my TV the 360 does a much better job scaling than the PS3. PS3 games always look a little blurry. So, whether it’s native or not, scaling can help an image look better (just as it does in upconverting DVD players) and the 360 does a better job of it. All HDTVs scale to their native resolution, but t...
This didn't start with LBP. Sony fanboys did the same thing to Halo 3 and other 360 exclusives. I am sure it has happened before on the Xbox fanboy side as well.
This bundle is a fantastic bargain. Seriously, anyone saying otherwise must be a hopeless fanboy of another console.
This is going to be a great bundle to appeal to casual gamers and parents buying the console for their kids, etc. Honestly though, Guitar Hero 3 is a game that even us core gamers are really into, and considering it normally costs around $100, it really does make this bundle an amazing deal. The Lego series of games is also a really popular franchise. Lego Indiana Jon...
Here comes Sony again with their arrogance. Seriously Sony, we're sick of the hype and misinformation about your console being the most powerful. (I have both consoles and will gladly give my PSN ID to anybody who asks for it).
The idea that the PS3 is the most powerful console is the biggest lie pulled over on gamers and game journalists this generation. It simply isn't true.
Despite the large number of respected software developers and tech gurus who have come f...
