With the statements coming from MS, the re-openeing of Ensemble, new Flight Sim and now this - MS isn't putting anything on 360, they're moving their gaming focus to PC.

I guess they'll position 360 + Kinect for children, market it against Wii and leave any hardware updates for 2014 as they've said.

Probably a good plan overall, MS can't catch Wii, they have no first parties anyway for 360 and it's cost them a ton of money for very li...

Too right - Criterion are better than NFS deserves at the moment. Since Porsche Unleashed it's just gone down hill.

I hope Criterion can inject something good into this series but this latest Hot Pursuit game just look like Burnout Paradise with Cops addon on a new map...

NFS was best when it went for road driving realism, not Burnout style arcade which is what has dragged it down in recent releases.

And Bayonetta (although I didn't like it much) and Dante's Inferno (which I liked even less).

GoW is still the benchmark for HnS done right ;)

I guess it wins by the same logic that says multiplats often "win" on 360 - extra pixel here, extra line on a texture there, all distinctly noticeable when you simply pause the game, hook up your screen cap hardware, transfer to PC, zoom in 300%, up the contrast and inspect with a microscope of course....

I don't know, slowdown in a hack n slash is pretty annoying compared to other genres where it may not be such a big deal.

Is it cool to insist that everyone likes exactly the same thing you like?

On the basis of that demo, this isn't even better than Alan Wake.... I think you're being rather optimistic.

Still if platforming with no jump timing, stories with weak plots, 1 dimensional characters and graphics that are limited to primary coloring makes you GOTY, then I guess you must be continually impressed with every game release.

PS3 has the extras built in for the most part I guess - bigger HDD, wireless etc etc.

Besides, the PS3 has such a big library of great games now there's plenty to do with just a trusty DS3.

360 hasn't seen much love recently and presumably that'll continue until MS leaves the console market.

This is on PS3 now? I thought it was a 360 exclusive franchise 0.o

So you'd prefer no driving tests (in fact I don't think GT5 has them as such anymore but nvm), reduce the penalties for poor driving and make the game seem more "fun" in your (arcade game inspired) opinion.

Great, then GT5 will be just like every other car game on consoles and no longer GT5.

Hows about, if you prefer something more arcade and fun and whatever, you just go select from one of the many many games that are exactly that and leave...

From the article

"The screens look great but quite honestly I don’t care. I just want a fun and compelling RACING game that gets me obsessed with traffic jams again. Please Polyphony, please… show me my fears are unfounded."

But if you read the rest, he effectively says he doesn't like the focus on the driving aspects of GT4 and now 5 where the tuning aspects are being diminished.

He complains that things that add penalties for...

Actually there has been a Nascar gmae in the US - it's iRacing and real Nascar drivers race there in addition to the regular folk.

I guess GT5 is coming as well.

Especially after MS talked about outselling CoD - they can't even outsell an F1 title?

UK is 360-land though (and while geographically part of Europe it's culturally independent).

I think it's because Hamilton/Button have reignited interest in F1 here.

Still, Reach will probably do well as a Christmas present so it will probably remain high and perhaps even retake that No1 over the next month or two.

Not trustable? Since when has that mattered on NewsFromLamers?

Still, this game looks very average on the PS3 - it looks just like a 360 game in fact, because that's what it is.

Rules of F1 don't require a lapped car to move off the line - in fact the recommendation is for the lapped car to remain on line and not make any deviations or erratic movements - ie drive predictably.

They may slow down, start coasting early into a croner, accelerate late out of a corner to let you past.

Pitstop bug? You mean everyone pitting on the same lap - I had that once in my first racde attempt.

Since turning the various options to "sim" (well as sim as this game gets) or "pro" I've not had it but I tend to pit when I want rather than on team instruction.

I guess you don't follow F1 or you'd know that some of those things are a big deal if you want to emulate that Formula...

Still I enjoy the game - in fact I think the PS3 version doesn't have so many bugs as the PC (and presumably 360) version since I haven't run into a lot of these problems.

The excessive puncturing I think is actually down to the way people drive - too many off track excursions, car contacts or locking/spinning the tyres see...
