The more they flap their lips about this game the less interested I become. A few months ago this sounded like a great game I couldn't wait to get my hands on and now, a few months from release, it sounds like an incomplete experience that I'm more likely to avoid.

Who knows what lurks in the hearts of men? Peter Molyneux knows.

But seriously, no. He's somewhat of a nutter.

heh, nice to see somebody can be funny without going for the obvious crude jokes. Kudos to you sir. +1

Yeah, because there's nothing I enjoy more than playing through conversation trees with all my best buddies.

Seriously, how exactly would co-op benefit Mass Effect (or most any RPG that isn't MMO)?

The author even says: "When a game´s experience comes solely from the strong narrative and story-line I really don’t think it´s necessary to include any sort of multi-player mode." - ok then, so *why* are you saying ME2 needs it? I agree with the idea t...

Sorry, but Thief came out November 1998 while MGS came out September 1998. So I guess if by "several years" you mean "barely two months", then I suppose you're about half-right.

My point was, FPS stealth games have been done and they've been done extremely well.

Uhm, ever hear of the Thief franchise? You know, the franchise that practically *created* the modern stealth genre? You realize it's an FPS and easily one of the best stealth franchises ever made, right?

I just find it funny that one would dismiss a stealth FPS when the genre was very nearly born as an FPS.

That is all.

err... I mean, yeah, I concur.

HHG is incredibly annoying, doesn't get to the point quickly enough, and can barely speak coherently. And I don't know that I'd say he "always has good information" though, typically I find that his "information" is no more than wild speculation and unfounded BS. I will say that he does occasionally have something interesting to say, but it's usually buried under too much nonsensical crap to make watching him worthwhile.

True enough, but I was comparing it to the Kindle with similar screen size/storage and that's $489.

I agree for the most part, I'm not sure what demographic they're hoping to corner with this device... but we'll see.

To put things into perspective though, consider this:

The Amazon Kindle, while it hasn't been a smash hit, has certainly been reasonably successful and costs just under $500 ($489) and has nowhere near the functionality that the iPad has for just $11 more. The only thing the Kindle really has going for it is the free 3G, but at the $500 price tag I'm t...

Yeah, the RPG elements, level design, *controllable* camera (that's a big one for me), and how you can interact with scenery - these are all things that I think make it better than GoW. At least on a gameplay level, anyhow... I may not have made it very far in GoW1/2 before I grew tired of them and gave up, but even the little bit I did play had a much better story line going for it, and Kratos was a better character. Typically my favorite games are those with a strong story component and my ...

That's actually a pretty interesting point you make: "It can only be overrated if most of hack&slash fanbase didn't find it that good" - It's easy for me to say that God of War is overrated because I'm not a really huge fan of hack & slash brawlers to begin with (though I am enjoying Darksiders quite a bit), so a lot of the aspects that many say make God of War a "great game" could very well be lost on people like me. I'd be willing to accept that as an explanation...

What's not to understand?

Think of books turned to movies that have been complete crap. If you'd rather remain in a consistent media, think of movies that have been remade one or more times, movies like King Kong, The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds, etc... Something can have a good story and a bad storyteller. Happens pretty frequently.

That said, I think the Halo story is mediocre at best. There is a lot of subtlety and nuance to it that is sadly unexp...

I think part of the reason why PS3 exclusives often receive harsh reviews is because PS3 exclusives take risks more often. One of the things that makes the PS3 so great is that Sony is not afraid to back projects that try new and interesting things, sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. Look at Demon's Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, etc... These are all games that take risks (we'll see how successful the latter two are at it) and the 360 has nothing th...

Good call on Fable. I enjoyed the first one, despite all of the unfulfilled hype, but the second one felt like a chore to play and I've already decided to ignore the third.

I'd disagree about Zelda, I've very much enjoyed every Zelda game I've ever played. They're the only real reason to own a Nintendo system as far as I'm concerned.

I disagree with almost every point you make, but I'm not responding to argue it because the whole "Halo is great" "No, Halo is crap" thing has been done to death.

I'm responding because the whole bit with the Grunts (and Hunters too, can't forget the Hunters) siding with the Elites in Halo 2 and then their shift in allegiance not being explained in Halo 3 bugged the *hell* out of me. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

That is all.

I have to agree. I laugh when people make fun of a game like Heavy Rain because they believe it to be nothing more than QTEs and then they go on to praise a game like God of War, which is itself almost nothing but button-mashing and QTEs. God of War is a game that interested me because of the story and rave reviews. I finally picked up the collection and played about 4 or 5 hours of both GoW1 and GoW2 before trading for something else.

I do not understand what people see in these...

Uhm... did you even *read* the story? I know it's dreadfully long and full of, you know, words... so lemme just point out the important bit that renders your comment meaningless:

"And thanks to the iPhone first-aid app he’d downloaded, he knew how to fashion a bandage and tourniquet for his leg and to stop the bleeding from his head wound."

Two injuries. His leg (tourniquet) and his head.

@3.4

I won't argue the lack of enemy types because I don't know that I could definitively say that there really were so few, it certainly felt like it though. I guess it depends on how you look at it, when I see a Helghan with a machine gun, one with a flame thrower and one with a rocket launcher, to me that's just the same enemy with three different weapon sets. Just as I wouldn't call the Elites in Halo different enemy types simply because occasionally they are given a differen...

I know I'm going to get pounded for this, but ignoring the fact that Killzone 2 has nothing to do with this...

I enjoyed Killzone 2 a lot, but think it's pretty overrated. Other than the cover system, which was mediocre at best, it didn't really do anything new. Every location in the game looks nearly identical to the last, there are very few enemy types or even creative weapons, the vehicle segments are a joke, and your squad members are ridiculously annoying (especially the one...

I'm a big Halo fan, and a *huge* Bungie fan. I've been playing their games faithfully ever since Minotaur way back before they even changed their logo. I have a copy of the first Marathon on floppy disks that came in a folder I got while at MacWorld years ago. I think Halo: Reach will be a great game, just like every game Bungie touches...

And yet, I find myself agreeing with the author, to an extent anyway. While I think it's a bit unfair to say that Halo hasn't evolved at all s...
