I see lots of long time GTA fans say similar things about GTA IV. It's funny/weird cause I never really cared all that much for GTA, didn't understand what all the hubbub was about, until I played GTA IV. It's easily one of my favorite games this generation.

1 - To each his own I guess. I thought the ending was pretty great myself. Definitely not my favorite ending of all time or anything (Marathon, another Bungie game, takes that honor), but it was satisfying, which is saying more than a lot of games.
2 - I won't go so far as to say the last levels lack polish, but I will agree with you on the warthog run at the end. It was a nice throwback to the original game, but it wasn't as well done.
3 - I thought the graphics were pretty good,...

I've never much understood why *anyone* prefers Halo 2 to Halo 3. Halo 2 was easily the worst of the bunch in my opinion. Even worse than ODST. The campaign was ridiculous, the introduction of the Arbiter was sloppy and took many out of the story... the Brutes were not fun or interesting to fight and the boss battles were cliched, hokey and just did not feel right at all... And let's not forget about the completely obnoxious cliff-hanger ending. As for the MP, it was ruined by the dual-wieldi...

I suspect this may be due to screen protectors interfering with the light sensors on the front of the phone. The light sensors are there so that when you're on a call and hold the phone to your face, the screen goes dark and disables touch controls so that you're not pushing buttons with your ear. The problem is that the screen protectors, when not applied correctly, leave a bunch of tiny air bubbles between them and the glass - this often interferes with these light sensors which causes the ...

I wasn't too sure about it at first, but the more I see of the Move the more I like it. From what we've seen so far I think it looks to be the best option for motion controls, especially with regards to hardcore games. As much as I think Natal is really cool, I don't yet understand how it's going to move beyond the more casual market.

That said, I'm also worried that Sony is going to price themselves out of the market on this one. All the accessories that will be necessary are go...

Optical Matrix is right. Everyone that frequents these sites already knows this. Your desire to "educate the casual gamers" is, uhm... noble? I guess. But the problem is that casual gamers do not generally frequent sites like this.

This is akin to posting "news" telling people "Zelda games are generally considered to be pretty good."

I own both the PS3 and 360 (was late to the PS3 party though, didn't pick it up until a few months before the slim was released - got the MGS4 & KZ2 bundle).

Is the PS3 a better value for the money? Yes, unequivocally. The simple fact is that you get *more for your money*. That having been said however, is the PS3 *CHEAPER* than the 360? That depends entirely on what kind of gamer you are - fact is, the cost of entry on the 360 is cheaper.

The thing that people k...

Yeah, cause Jaffe isn't biased one bit. He not only helped create the whole franchise but he served as a consultant on the third installment. Frankly, I don't give a damn what Jaffe has to say about it.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, quite the opposite, actually. If you had paid any attention during your reading comprehension classes in grade school, you'd understand that. I'm saying only that the game is a highly polished version of the previous two. Graphically it looks very i...

I hope you're not trying to make a case for re-playability being the sole criteria for whether or not one game is better than another. By that logic, games like Tetris or Bejeweled are among the best ever made.

Shadow of the Colossus. There are others as well.

It's cool though. The game looks great.

I feel I should be clear though, I'm not trying to bash God of War 3 or Halo: Reach. I'm simply trying to say that statements like "Game X is the BEST GAME EVER MADE" (the title of this article) are ridiculous, no matter what that game happens to be.

If it's graphics you're talking about, then yeah, I'll agree that GOW3 appears to have Halo: Reach handily beat on that front. I dunno about setting the bar for "all console games", I still think Uncharted 2 holds that crown.

That aside though, graphics do not make a game. Again, as with virtually *any* sequel, this is an improvement on what they've already established with prior titles in the series, it is nothing groundbreaking or new.

And unless you're deaf, dumb, and blind, you can see that they're just highly polished versions of the same winning formula they have always been. This is not a bad thing, it's just the truth.

To call either of these games "OMG TEH BEST GAIMZ EVAR!!1!!1!oneone!!1!!!" is just ridiculous.

They both look great, I hope each has great success, but please pull your heads out of the clouds and see them for what they are.

Kratos is the God of War, not ...

And God of War 3 doesn't look like God of War 2?

Of course it does. Just like Halo: Reach looks like Halo 3. It's the next game in a franchise, it's going to look similar to the previous games with some improvements. The same way that God of War 3 looks just like God of War 2 with some improvements.

There is nothing all that amazing or groundbreaking about either one. They're just very polished versions of the same thing they've always been.

They're both retreads of things that have been done before with minor improvements and enhancements. There is nothing truly groundbreaking about either of them. For either God of War 3 or Halo: Reach to be considered for GOTY is silly as far as I'm concerned. "Action Game of the Year" or "FPS of the Year" ok... maybe.

They both look like really great games (that is, assuming hack & slash and / or FPS games are your thing), but GOTY should, as far as I'm co...

*** This entire post is a spoiler so I'd ignore if you haven't played the game ***

I agree with you for the most part. In fact, with the exception of the typewriter repair store, I think Scott Shelby's story was told beautifully. He was a suspect precisely because of the reasons you mention, however it was the typewriter store scene that I feel at least partially ruined that aspect of the story.

The typewriter store scene is the sole blemish on an otherwise great plo...

I bought Heavy Rain day one and enjoyed it immensely. I haven't yet had the time to finish a second play-through though. That said, I understand some of the criticism the game is getting, especially with regards to the plot holes and unfortunate story trickery...

As part of the agreement surrounding the split from MS, they were contracted to create two additional Halo games. Reach is the final of those two. That's all they are obligated to make.

That said, I am disappointed to hear they're even considering keeping Halo on the table. I've enjoyed all the Halo games so far, but enough is enough. Bungie is more than capable of making plenty of other things as they've done time and again well before Halo ever existed. They need to remind peop...

Ok so I buy a console *once* which gives me access to hundreds of retail games, downloadable games, movies, tv shows, etc etc... for what? $300 or less? and Activision thinks this is a *bad* deal?

How exactly do they justify the $200+ Guitar Hero packages that are rehashed every year? The price hike on MW2? Bobby Kotick's psychiatrist? (I'm speculating) Ridiculous.

This is why I still haven't played MW2, as much as I want to, I refuse to buy it new because I don't wa...

Heroes a pretty good example, and precisely where my concern lies. Too many things with great potential fall flat on their faces because the team behind them have no idea where to go next. This franchise seems to be heading down a similar path.

5968d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

That may very well be true, but hearing that they're basically making things up as they go along instead of having the core story mapped out ahead of time, does not give me much hope for the future of this franchise.

The game still looks great, my concern stems only from the continually baffling comments they make about it. I think they'd be better served to just shut up and let the game speak for itself.
