Wow I'm really impressed with this one. Good job Sony.

I'm especially impressed and pleased that they used the actual voice actors to portray some of the iconic characters. Nolan North (Drake), David Hayter (Snake), Eric Ladin (Cole). [edit - I realize now the voice actors only provided voices, not likeness - still, very cool.]

If there was ever any doubt that the voice actors could pull off these characters in a live action movie, I think this is fan...

Hah yeah. These are so close that for a second I thought Lens of Truth forgot to put different images in there, then I noticed a handful of different pixels in each image. Virtually identical in every way.

The poll at the end is pretty interesting too. Anyone that votes for anything other than "tie" is clearly a whiny biased fanboy on this one.

The game has no competitive FPS multiplayer.

It has vehicle racing and arenas (and from what I've been reading in many of the reviews, these aren't particularly good), and co-op.

Good call Canary.

I don't recall people whining about the boss fights in MGS 4 as much as they do about Human Revolution. The MGS 4 boss battles were constructed a lot better, in my opinion, but they still had the same effect of feeling a bit out of place and forcing you to play them a certain way. The entire game is about stealth until you get to the boss battles.

Agreed. Not only were they a small percentage, but a small percentage of a percentage. A *fraction* of a percentage of the entire game. We're talking something like 0.1%

Wow. Those are all equally terrible ideas.

I never played Ico or SotC when they first released, I've only just received them in the collection about a week ago. I'm about 75% of the way through Ico (from what I understand) and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes relatively slow-paced puzzle/platformer games. It reminds me a little bit of the 2008 Prince of Persia game (the one with the temple of light, Elika, etc...). My guess is if you enjoyed that game you'd enjoy th...

"I turn a corner and there's a boulder there was no way for me to know was there and I die."

No way for you to know? Seriously? It sounds like you're talking about the boulder tossed down the stairs at you early in the game, or the flaming one a bit later. These types of things caught me off guard maybe four or five times throughout the *entire game*, and each time it happened it was something I could have easily avoided had I been paying better attention. T...

If it were just a guy showing up and giving the kid a good scare, something he'd remember the next time he's being a little bastard online, I could absolutely get behind this. But that isn't what happened. This guy physically assaulted the kid. I'm sorry, but when did we forget the old playground saying: "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me"? Grow up. He's a 46 year old man, he should be able to deal with some punk kid calling him na...

@ MrDead

Yeah, I guess that's true. I suppose it makes sense to direct some of the rage and fury in the direction of Kotaku and others that chose to run with such a headline. You make a fair point.

Still though, I'm more irritated with Rocksteady. They've spoiled so much about this game so far that I imagine as I'm playing it I'll just be thinking "I wonder when I'm going to bump into Penguin" followed by "I wonder when ...

As much as I know it's often taboo to mention a remake / re-imagining of a game as well loved as the original Deus Ex, I'm going to do it anyway. I'd love to see them remake the original game. Human Revolution proved to me they're capable of carrying on the franchise and that they understand what makes Deus Ex special. In recent interviews they also seem to be very self-aware and open to criticism regarding some of the problems in Human Revolution, specifically the boss fights...

I understand the dislike for Kotaku in general, but in this particular case I don't think they're to blame. This was something Rocksteady specifically asked the press to report on (Kotaku is definitely not the only one, I've seen it on at least three other sites so far). Sure, Kotaku could have chosen not to do so, but when all of the press at this event was shown the same thing, Kotaku not reporting on this would have just been weird.

In this case, as with most o...

I couldn't possibly agree with you more. As much as I'm looking forward to this game, I can't help but think it's like a movie trailer that has all the good bits in it so before you even get to the theatre you feel like you've seen it already.

Good calls on all counts. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to see the love given to Marathon. It is all too often overlooked due to its Mac exclusivity.

*obvious spoilers*

The way the endings were presented to the player, as four buttons in a room, was easily the most disappointing aspect of Deus Ex: HR to me. It felt like the video game equivalent of Let's Make a Deal. It was awkward and totally out of place. It would have been significantly more interesting if the choices you made throughout the course of the game had a greater impact and helped to shape the ending you'd receive. Diluting this down to nothing but a ...

I'm picking up both on release as I'm a big fan of both franchises, but I agree with you regarding Dark Souls fighting mechanics.

Obviously Dark Souls depends on the strength of the fighting mechanic more than The Elder Scrolls games do, but if Skyrim's fighting mechanic is anything like Oblivion (I know it has supposedly been overhauled, but the videos I've seen so far, while they look better, the mechanics seem very similar) it's going to be a bit of a w...

You mean ban people without cause, right?

I just assume that's what you must mean given that, as AdmiralSnake said, they gave everyone 1 month PS+ and a couple of free games. I'd say that's "something like" what MS is doing here.

Portal 2 was pretty great, but I think I'd give it to Deus Ex so far. This is shaping up to be one of those years that'll end up having 5 or 6 games worthy of the honor by the end of it all though. It's gonna be a tough race.
