I think that lately people who play video games have been given so much that a sense of entitlement does start to creep in.

Sony was obsessed with preventing the Vita from being able to play pirated games. That obsession led to decisions that ultimately killed the system.

With the PS4, their obsession is on social and sharing... two things I could care less about. The harder they focus on those features, the less interesting my PS4 becomes.

Well, except genocide is the mass extermination of a single race, and Nathan doesn't quite do that.

I really don't get these "is Nathan Drake a mass murderer" arguments that always pop up. Am I the only one playing who kills enemies that all have guns and weapons and who are actively trying to kill me?? Nathan Drake is less a mass murderer than he is the greatest self-defense artist in history.

People are all hung up with it being an "indie" game and costing $60. But these are also the same people that complain when a game isn't long enough to justify a full retail price. The Order 1886 was a AAA game that was savaged because it was only 6 hours long.

So if No Man's Sky is a game that has nearly limitless content, shouldn't the price of the game actually be MORE than $60?

Probably the best game of the generation. Finally an open world game that doesn't try to tell some intricate story and just lets you enjoy the open, vicious world.

It seems like Sony's big focus this generation is on social and sharing. Personally, I just want to play my games. I don't want to share. I don't want to see my friends' updates. I don't care about how Adam Boyes is doing in Destiny. So from my point of view, and I can't be alone, I just want new features that make getting to my games easier.

You can follow verified accounts....

Am I the only one who thinks that is the most useless feature on the PS4? Communities is probably a close 2nd. I want to play games. I want to be able to find the game I want to play easier. I want folders. I don't really care about what some exec at PlayStation is playing.

You're right. It doesn't apply to 100% of open world games. Assassin's Creed IV did a good job of allowing the player to go off and explore the world while having it make sense within the context of the game. But when that happens, the intensity of the story starts to fade. How many open world games have you played that when you go back to a story mission, you've kind of forgotten what was happening.

Honestly, that's not the point. Even if I use it infrequently, it lacking that basic feature would be a deal breaker for me. It's like the PlayStation TV. It's this amazing microconsole that do a ton of things, but it didn't have Netflix and it was deemed useless to most. Yes, people could watch Netflix on a dozen other devices in their house, but if it doesn't have that basic capability, then it is immediately viewed as inferior or obsolete.

I like being able to watch DVD/blu-rays on my console. Always pissed me off neither the Wii or Wii U could play a DVD.

Really, if they just made a clone of the PS4 and put Nintendo games on it, I'm sold.

Metroid and a blu-ray drive

Problem is you can't tell a good story in an open world game because the developer loses control of the pacing. Linear games do story sooo much better. For example, it makes no sense that in Red Dead you're urgently trying to save your family.... except you spend three days searching for flowers for a crazy man before playing horse shoes with the farm hands. Linear stories like Uncharted don't allow you to break from the pacing of the story and it turns out much better.

The two biggest concerns I have with this are price and multiplayer.

If this is true, the price of that kind of power in a small form factor is going to be really expensive.

And if it is a portable, how does multiplayer work (which is a staple of Nintendo systems).

I'd take this with a huge grain of salt.

NOOOOOOOO!!! Still my favorite of the PS gaming devices. With zero moving parts, not battery to replace, this thing is going to last forever. It'll be even better when they stop updating the OS and just let people hack the system.

We won't know if he is wrong or not until after the console launches, but the basis for his opinion is probably wrong. He's complaining that because HE doesn't have a devkit, then NOBODY has devkits and therefor there will be no games at launch. He then turns to Neogaf to vent his frustration.

The details of an unannounced console are still being kept secret until Nintendo is ready to reveal them. They only want to let people in on the plan whom they can trust, an...

Exactly. This guy is bitter because HE doesn't have a devkit. Nintendo wants to keep the details of the NX a surprise and so it's only fitting that they wouldn't give a devkit to a smaller dev who likes to go and make all his frustrations known on Neogaf.

I know that if I had information that I didn't want to get leaked out, this guy is the last person I would give it to.

Simply put, cross-buy was viewed as the saving grace for Vita, but killed it in the end. It creates twice the work for the developer with little to no extra incentive.

Exactly. It wouldn't be the new, big thing, but something that was an easy/simple way to play the Nintendo catalog of the past. So kind of like the PS TV, but maybe put Netflix on it :)

A lot of times reviewers will just plow through a game so they can say they finished it, even if there is a deadline. But look, I don't have to play 40 hours of a game to know if I enjoy it or not. You get to a certain point where you know if it is worth your money and your time.

Reviews are moronic but not because of these reasons. I do think scores are dumb. And having to finish a game or play 100 hours of it isn't really the best idea either. I think this is what hurt Knack in the end. Knack is a fun game, when played in chunks. But that's now how these reviewers did it. They had to sit through and grind through a 10 hour game and write a review because there was another one sitting in the queue. In pieces, Knack is fantastic. If you marathon it though, it ...
