There are obviously a few factors at work. Advertising for anything but the 360 version is totally non-existant. You see Madden on TV, and at the end of the commercial, you see Xbox 360 Live. I don't know how much they're getting for that, but it seems obvious that it's hurting their sales on other consoles, because the average person doesn't know it exists!

I guess the Wii isn't bought by the casual gamer as much as some people thought. A football game is more on the casua...

The best selling games of all time have been made by Nintendo. Mario Bros. 1/3, Dunk Hunt, Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Gold/Silver, Mario World/Land all rank among the most sold games of all time. In fact, if I am right, Nintendo was the publisher of the top 8 selling games, ever, and all of them were made by Nintendo except Tetris, which was created by Alexey Pajitnov and was not working for Nintendo.

So it is easy to see why Nintendo can push its own console, but its not hard to...

It's between 4 and 4.5, so its not really low.

No one reports it, though, so you have to calculate it for yourself, and that means using different times, most likely, so you can't get an exact answer, but it should be in that area according to the numbers I saw.

I used numbers from wikipedia and vgchartz, so accorting to MS and sony fanboys, the attach rate is actually higher.

I wouldn't go there. in case you didn't notice, Google has flagged it as a malware site.

Makes it even less likely to be right, not that it ever had a chance of being more right than vgchartz.

It's not just an ugly game...its ugly by N64 standards. It's worse than Cruis'n USA, which was released 11 years ago! Worse!

This isn't just ugly...this is ugly for early, blocky 3D games.

Wii owners might actually be too busy playing their games to talk trash.

Isn't that a refreshing change?

Well, you also said no multiplayer on a game was a dealbreaker for you, and that you were so disappointed about a game not having multiplayer for the Wii that you weren't going to buy one, so that's another reason right there.

I don't quite get it, since you praise Rachet & Clank and PS3, but oh well.

You're loss, skipping 2 systems because of some games that are meant to be single player experianced, but that doesn't change that the Wii is on top and the PS3...

Sony fanboys also say its terrible for Paramount to go HD DVD exclusive, but want WB to go bluray exclusive, and have nothing against Disney, Fox, etc. for being bluray exclusive.

It doesn't matter what they say, though, because though PS3 is selling slightly better than the 360, its not enough to catch up anytime soon, and its not even close to selling as well as the Wii, so the gap will only widen.

Graphics don't mean much, but it looks like early (aka terribly bad and blocky) 3D game. There's just no excuse for that, and when you've had bad games before, it doesn't inspire people to see it doesn't look like you're updating anything at all.

That was a fairly big jump, it seems. Good for Nintendo.

They really deserve it with the big risk they've taken. The only question is how long ago would this have happened if there weren't Wii shortages.

I remember seeing that according to one group, the demand for the PS3 in America after their price cut not only passed the Wii and 360 for a week, but it did so by meeting them halfway, lowering the demand of the Wii and 360 as much as the demand went up for the PS3.

As I recall, the methods were hardly meant to be more than a general look, but the break of the previous trend was very obvious.

The difference there was a major drop in a more expensive console, but...

You're the kind of person that made research papers take forever by slowing down the dorm's internet!

I'm looking forward to this more than Halo, too, though. Really, Halo has never impressed me, and I still don't see what so many people love about it, but I'm not much of an FPS person myself, and I'm not a huge fan of being cussed out because I have a harder schedual than some people, so never get to practice, after they kill me, or I can't help the group.

"so long as no bribery is involved, they tend to make the intelligent choice of supporting Blu-ray. "

I think by "intelligent" you mean "profit." Yes, any company, unless there are outside factors, will choose the way to make the most money. That is by being neutral, because people will always buy more for both formats than by only selling to one. Of course, HD movies right now is a very small market, but, still, to make the most profit you woul...

With so many new characters to master, I have no doubt this one will be rocking for YEARS!

There is a big difference in enjoying something and delivering everything that was promised.

The first is fine no matter what is said, but the second depends very much on quotes from the company.

I could tell you that I can be your personal chef for a year for $1,000,000 and I guarentee you will lose 15 pounds just by eatting my food, then give you food that tastes great but is high in fat.

You would end up enjoying the year of food, but I doubt yo...

Chris made me think of something. We have, in fact, seen direct compitition between terrible and great graphics for a time period.

Back in the times before Gameboy Color, we had black and white Gameboys. However, Sega tried to enter the handheld realm, with the Game Gear.

My oh my what a difference. The Gamegear had color, looked great (think of Genesis, it was about that good), and overall looked better than the Gameboy in every possible way.

nintendo gets another shot with the perfect storm. Last time they had it, at E3 everyone said Nintendo won and they were back on top, and they threw it away.

They have it again. With all the great games comming for them this year, they get another shot, and we've seen Nintendo knows about learning from the past. I think this holiday will be a stunning success for them. I know by the time 2008 rings in, they will have won the fight with my wallet.

Now if they ...

I was going to say something about the uncanny valley, but I thought no one would know what I was talking about. Obviously, I was wrong.

However, though we are still in the uncanny vally, we are climbing out of it. If you compare video games now to the graphics in the Final Fantasy movie (if anyone actually rememebrs it), I think it landed right about at the bottom of the uncanny valley, while if you look at games now, people are looking more real, and its certainly to a poin...

"goodness they changed so much from their glory on the Nes and SNES "

I don't rememeber the name, but there was a chess-like game for the NES, but you had to fight when one piece tried to take another, so the piece you're trying to take could end up taking you, so it wasn't real chess, but it was along the same lines, and there may have been a real chess game, but I never had it.

Chessmaster for the SNES was one of my favorite games.

Now ...
