The more I read about this, the more it seems like Mario getting all the stars, something that's right there in front of you, but not something that has to be done.
The only thing I don't understand is about how it could involve your friends.
I might be totally off, but it seems like Mario getting more stars than needed to finish Mario 64, from what I've heard.
If NA was all that mattered, the Wii wouldn't be on top of the 360 in sales.
NA, Japan, and Europe all need to be won, or nearly so, to win the war, so Sony does need to get the PS3 to sell in NA, but its not as bad as you make it out to be.
The fact that Sony could outsell the 360 worldwide is proof that, not only does the USA not mean everything, but NA doesn't mean everything.
I don't get it. Sony and MS fanboys throw insults about the systems ...
It'll happen at some point, but, right now, Nintendo isn't exactly having problems moving the Wii or games.
Nothing about the Wii's price, software or hardware, is going to change until you can walk into any store and buy it.
From the article: "The more-powerful systems, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, in July, again lagged behind in the fierce battle for dominance in the booming gaming consoles market by moving 159,000 and 170,000 units, respectively, as per the fresh sales results provided by the NPD. Compared to June’s sales, the recent PS3 sales are 61% up, while it is 14% down for Xbox 360."
How is that about the Wii? The article covers all the consoles.
It's crazy to think nothing will ever match the PS2. The population of the world increases, so the number of potential buyers increases. Someday, 120 million will be but a drop in the bucket for console sales!
That's a long way off, but it's obvious that unless something happens to wipe out a good portion of the world, someone is going to outsell the PS2.
It is crazy its still going, but I think its hurting the PS3, because Sony is still looking at the PS2 and ...
My friend has a PS3, and I played Championship Sprint, and I hated it. The PS3 obviously has terrible graphics and controls, and I played a game, so my opinion is informed.
Another friend has a 360, and I played Pimp My Ride, and I hated it. The 360 obvious has loose controls, bad graphics, and is full of minigames, and I played a game, so my opinion is informed.
See how easy it is to make any system look bad when you play the bad games on it. Now, if you play...
Well, I own a Wii, but only recently got a PS2, and haven't played KH or KH2. If I have a chance to get KH3 on the Wii, I'll think about it, but I don't know anything about the first two. I'm very likely missing background information right now, and, knowing that, I may pass it up.
I'd love to see it for the Wii, but I'm not always willing to jump into a sequal. With what I've heard about KH, I'd probably bite, but probably not as quickly as I would if I had played all of th...
It's really fairly shocking to be honest. One would think the PS3 could muster a single month over the 360.
Sony shouldn't be making up excuses of why they were wrong, but looking at what they should have done better. They need to learn from this now, or else they won't come out on top again, this gen or any other.
A $100 price cut should have sent them over the 360...should have. It didn't, and now Sony needs to really study what went wrong in July, and fire ...
There would be another strategy to push the console, but it would be a huge risk. Sony could push the extra features (you know, the stuff that account for half the cost) before the big games hit trying to show that if you want all of the extra stuff that's being offered, its a good value.
Of course, pushing a gaming console for its extra features takes away from its gaming side, and it may be hard to recover, ironicly, when good games do hit, and people aren't thinking of the ...
@Foliage
The downfall MS MUST be planning with all these theories about MS planting people all over the industry just to sabotage the PS3. As for being outdated, so is the PS2, but it still sells. So is the modern analog stick, but the PS3 and 360 still use it. Heck, I still even play my old NES sometimes, so something being outdated? Let the 360 fans have their fun.
@540
You act like I'm impressed by Halo 2. I've actually hated all the Halo g...
So by your logic, PS3 gets KH3, and Wii gets FF13.
Ok, Wii agrees.
Isn't it amazing how the Wii, at the very least, by anyone's measure, has graphics at least as good as the Gamecube, and it was more powerful than the PS2 (which was the weakest console last gen) and the Wii would somehow be a step back?
Now if I could only show that 2 is less than 1 using the same logic...
No, never. There will be a spike, but its not going to be nearly as big as some people think. Many people who want Halo 3 already have a 360, and some of those that don't will be waiting until the holidays and ask for it as a gift.
People will buy consoles for the upcomming 360 games, but the games are mostly targeting the same gamers, so the numbers won't be insanely impressive. I would guess maybe a 40% increase the week of Halo, and a month or so of returning to more norm...
That's the only word for this, insane.
Because the PS3 isn't winning the console war, there must be some huge MS plot behind Sony's downfall? Get over it! Sony is pushing things people don't want in their console, and the games Sony fanboys wanted to move their console aren't as great as they thought.
Reviews are an opinion. If you want my opinion, Warhawk is a 1, because not every game needs multiplayer, but every game that lacks singleplayer will die as soon...
With what you say, there isn't one.
Reminds me of the Sony fanboy that asked why he should buy a Wii if there were no games on the system he wanted. Quite simple, he shouldn't.
If the PS3 is redundant because you have other things to cover its extras, and you don't want the games, don't buy it.
That's the nice thing about choices. You can send a message to Sony by not buying the PS3, telling them its far too expensive for what you need. So I wou...
Why would the Wii drop out? Weak graphics, like the PS2?
Sony fans like to think the PS3 will turn around, but Sony has done everything wrong with it. It's expensive and hard for developers, which pushes them away. It's expensive, far too expensive for the general population. It has a lot of extra stuff that the normal person doesn't care about. That's not to say it can't win, but its the total opposite of the PS2.
The Wii is actually much more like the PS2,...
I don't see why the company would want Xbox, considering they deal with sponsers (bucks=bux) of extreme sports (X). Therefore, they wanted to be Xbux. Xbox wouldn't make much sense for what they do.
Now, if Microsoft really feels like this company is being confused with thier Xbox/Xbox360, they have every right to take them to court, but I don't think they are any more in the right than a shirt maker sueing a polo club. There's just no chance for confusion.
No...
you missed out on the Wee. Someone already has it. The Wu (2 dots over the u) seems to be popular too.
More than anything, I want to know what these numbers actually mean.
All I can really tell by this is that the Wii would still sell well at $100 more than the 360 premium, and the PS3 really needs another price drop.
Outside of that, I haven't seen one piece of information on what sales going up or down on a console means. Is it good because more people want it, or is it bad because more people want to get rid of it?
Mario wins a race with multiple jumps, how strange! Mario is a better jumper than Sonic, but Sonic is faster, so it evens out.
That and the person playing as Mario was probably just better. Heaven forbid player abilities may chance the outcome.
