You beat me to it, with the history lesson about Nintendo and the D pad and modern analog stick.

But it is somewhat crazy to Say Nintendo isn't cutting edge most of the time. In the days of NES they nearly managed a monopoly in somewhat the same way MS has recently. They also introduced the "fad" called the D pad.

SNES was nothing too special, but the N64 introduced the modern analog stick. Nintendo also stayed away from optical media, because they f...

Making gaming cool, making it something anyone can do, allowing anyone to be a gamer, that is raising the bar.

If a fancy restaurant manages to lower its food prices to the prices you see at Burger King while keeping its quality, we would say they raised the bar for fine dining, but they aren't doing anything different, just allowing more people to enjoy what they have to offer.

That is what Nintendo has done. You can raise the bar in many ways. Nintendo has do...

There's plenty of profits to be made on the Wii for third parties.

The problem is that some won't try on the Wii...you know, the kind that think there is no profit there.

Then again, those are the ones that hurt themselves the most. I can promise EA will make a huge hit, though a few of their first tries on the Wii have/will fizzle, because they know there is a large market there, and they want to tap into it.

SNES was by far the best. Mario RPG can be mentioned in the same breath as the all time greats like Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye, but it was done a gen sooner. Mega Max X was great, as well. Yoshi's Cookie got my mom into gaming for the first time!

That besides all the great games like Mario Kart and Super Metroid that are considered greats, as well.

I agree, and some of the places it is showing up are very careful with their money. It makes you wonder about the Wii, really, because a school, for instance, isn't going to spend money on something they don't see helping for years down the road.

I find it interesting how game consoles are getting into so many places this gen, not just the Wii, but the PS3 also. Both for tools, but the Wii for fun as well.

I don't go to the 360 section and talk bad about those games. However, when I look in the Wii section and something about Halo 3 comes up, is that an offer to go over and tell everyone how sad it is that an average game is selling to 360 owners by the bucket load just because advertising told them it was great?

Seriously, FPS rarely get me interested, and least of all overhyped, but otherwise average FPS on a system that has half of the games FPS.

Edit:

I might have to pick this up.

I noticed it, but it didn't look like too much to me, so I brushed it aside in my mind. However, the review makes it look pretty solid. I don't need fancy graphics on a puzzle game and I enjoy a good challenge, so it being hard is good for me...I actually miss the times of games that were hard enough that only a few people could beat them.

if I am correct this is also a cheaper game, like $20-30, so if I end up not liking it, no bi...

"1. The system does and will have games this gen. That was stupid of you to even reply that way."

Some developers are complaining about the low install base. With games being more expensive to make for the PS3 than the 360, and up to twice as expensive as for the Wii, you better have a great install base if you want people to make a lot of good games for you.

There is a good chance that the PS3 will have the smallest selection of games, if it stays on ...

Don't some players need some updates to play movies on some discs that are already out?

Sorry, couldn't help it :D

Bullet in a power point...bullet in a power point. That's all this is.

50 GB is much more than we need for a movie. Who really cares about all of that space if its never going to be used?

It's just like the 100 GB bluray disc. Does anyone honestly think a movie will take even half of that? Hey wait...half of that is...50!

Seriously, all of this means nothing at all. It's not unlike the rance between Russia and America had to get a man on the m...

Maybe he got to it though industry news.

This is news for gamers, so I would think industry means video game industry, not movie industry.

"The Wii is a wild card. Nothing in past generations is anywhere near comparable. ... Last generation indicates that those numbers do not exceed 20 million."

So the Wii can't be comapred to anything before, but judging by a console that is nothing like it last gen, we'll draw conclusions?

The Wii this gen is looking a lot like the PS2 last gen. What made so many people buy the PS2? Games on the PS2 covered every kind of gamer. The PS3 has gone the wa...

I have a friend that is very good at Brawl that would beg to differ that you need to be standing still be to hit. I couldn't actually see Master Chief doing too well in Brawl, since he uses guns he finds on the ground. The items aren't all that great in Smash Bros (best for a single use throw, most often).

Master Chief gets killed very quickly by any hand to hand combat, which everyone in Smash Bros uses.

Samus is just flat out stronger and cooler.

I believe the number is 20%. Only 40% of PS3 owners know they have a bluray player, too, and only half of them use it.

Assuming half of them got it for a bluray player only, not for the games...they would have gotten a standalone bluray player if the PS3 hadn't been out. The PS3 might be the cheapest bluray player out there, but when you're talking about $500-$600, a little more money is nothing. If you have the money to buy a PS3 for bluray, chances are you have so much mon...

I'm not much into FPS, but I have played Halo and a few others, and I can say for sure its not the best.

Goldeneye is still the gold standard for FPS and one of the great games ever. Halo isn't in the same class.

That's not to say Halo is bad, but its not the wonderful game some make it out to be.

I really hope decrease in the activity on this site doesn't indicate a decrease in the activity of real life activities as well, because that's just not healthy.

I play my Wii for a while, come on here, reply to things for a while, go out with my friends, pop on again to say some more. Life has to be balanced, not all about games, playing or talking about them either one. You can't very well assume that just because someone is talking on here doesn't buy as many games as thos...

I'll probably rent it, myself, but probably not for a while with all the other games comming.

Also, just one little thing to add. Scatter Senbonzakura.

If only all PS3 owners thought they won either way. It's really crazy how so many of them defend bluray so quickly. If its the format you like, ok, but at least do some research first. I rarely see an argument for bluray that's not Sony propaganda.

We need more people that can seperate the console and format wars. Bluray is NOT PS3 and HD DVD is NOT the 360.

I see back and forth so often, "HD DVD is dead and so is the 360" and then "bluray will...

Sorry, when you said "milkio galaxy" I thought you were refering to Mario.

Yes, each one is a new game, though they all tend to follow the same few formulas.

However, obviously you don't consider Mario milked if you don't consider FF milked. After all, there are, what, 15 or so FF games (13 is comming out, and there were a couple of others that didn't just go up to the enxt number). There's only about one real Mario game every 2 years, so we'll say 13...

So is MS, to you, since from what I've seen, you think "real gamers" are the ones that shun everything that isn't Sony.

Nintendo is killing real gamers like Hollywood killed real movie watchers. Edison forced almost every movie studio in NJ out of business, leaving him with a monopoly on the industry. This meant low quality movies and limited appeal for the movies that was made. The industry was stuck in a rut, until a few people with cameras and a dream went out t...
