This is about what I expected. I believe I actually said about a 20% increase over the course of about a month (it'll end up looking a bit strange on a graph due to the holiday rush comming at about the same time).

The 360 will likely outsell the Wii until the Halo 360s sell out, and it will die back down to more normal levels. The real fight is November and December, and I would be shocked if the 360 ended up anywhere but 2nd (in NA) those months.

I have a few problems with what you're saying. MS does have limited appeal, targeting only the hardcore, and not even all of the hardcore at that. They're trying to change that, though. However, it will likely take a long time to change that image.

Nintendo isn't all for children, either. At least I would enver let a child play games like Manhunt 2. Nintendo is targeting everyone, even more than Sony did last gen, because Nintendo is even after the non-gamer, with their ga...

Heck no its not time to ignore Jack.

First, he's just funny. He feels parents today aren't good enough, allowing their children to buy games they shouldn't be buying, and twice a week or so, he sends his son to buy a game he shouldn't be buying.

Second, you can't let an evil like him go totally unstopped. Though he has the greater platform and greater resources, thousands of voices together speaking of how stupid the accusations from his mouth really are, the b...

I have a hard time believing Nintendo will lose based upon a few trends, not the least of which is the power of the console.

If memory serves...the last time the weakest console didn't win a console war was when Genisis beat out the SNES, and I think that was the only time, as well.

The NES beat out Sega Master System, the Gameboy beat out the Game Gear, and PS and PS2 dominated superior consoles.

The DS and Wii are the least powerful handheld and ...

Nah, they might as well cancel all other games and just have the Colts and Pats play for the Super Bowl.

But, yes, I suppose one could dream.

Edit: "Colts and Pats are both in the AFC, they can't both be in the Superbowl"

Scottie, this is true, but last year, and the year before, and the year before, and every year since the Pats won their fi...

People say PS3 sales are good. People say 360 sales are good. In a year, Wii has doubled where the PS3 is and is where the 360 got in twice as long.

This, we can agree on, then. Wii sales are crazy. Nintendo didn't expect exceptional sales, anyway, and if they had there would have been long shortages, anyway, because no one expects any console to sell as the Wii has.

I don't see what's so hard to believe about Nintendo really not being able to get production ...

It's really amazing what hype can do, but it normally only has a short term effect on the game/console it surrounds. Look at the PS3, for instance. There was a lot of hype before the release, a rush to get them, and a quick fizzle on sales.

One thing that really gets me with hype is how it can make gamers look bad. I would love to see games become as mainstream as movies or TV, but so much hype for some games pushes that thought away. All the hype for Halo 3 made gamers loo...

I think he's wrong, but its interesting. perhaps one thing worth looking at is the prediction of DS sales. He's predicting it will sell more than the PS2, and quickly (2011) dethrone it as the best selling console of all time, though there are no preditions of the PS3, 360, or Wii passing it up.

I also think its strange to say the Wii "fad" will only last a few more years. That would mean Wii sales would drop off a year or so before the next Nintendo console will c...

The only problem was that it wasn't a launch title?

I guess they couldn't name any real negatives if they didn't actually play it, so they used that as an excuss to give is a high enough rating so that no one would complain later, but not so high that it's perfect in case there really are some problems.

It's amazing, really, that they would do this, and worse still that people buy it even when its so well know that they're famous for not playing games!

Single player can't die if the industry is to survive and grow.

For every person that would stay though a time without single player games, 100 others would leave and never look back to video games again. The single players is what makes a game worth playing, not multiplayer. Being able to go though the stories, being one against the world, not one of the world, and fighting though levels that get progressivly harder is what makes games fun.

Even in multiplayer...

Mario Galaxy and Brawl alone will likle outsell all of the games you listed combined.

They might have a chance if they were multiplatformed to the Wii, where they would compete with Nintendo well, and have a chance to break some huge numbers, but FF13, for instance, has a much smaller install base and is on a much more expensive system, making it not worth it for just a few games.

Looking back, one has to wonder how it will end.

Zelda games seem to always come back with a seemingly totally new story and world. Heck, we know most, if not all, of the Links are different people, but it seems Gannondorf never dies (maybe a perk to being the only male of his race every 100 years?)

There are so many characters that just leave and we get the feeling they'll come back...but also so many different times and lands.

No one can argue t...

In an interview with some of the people who worked on MP3, they said that Nintendo was somewhat against so much voice acting because, when it would be good enough for others, it needed to still be refined for Nintendo.

Nintendo wouldn't even be making consoles anymore after the N64 era when so many developers left because they wanted CD's, if it wasn't for their huge games, but, let's face it, Nintendo makes games that are simply great.

You cannot, and should not...

Two games (ok, one franchise, one game) comes to mind when I think of memorable landmarks.

First, Zelda, ever since it hit 3D, has been doing well with keeping me interested in where things are because many of the places are so memorable. Ocarina of Time, ever play though I did of it, I always looked forward to getting into the Gerudo Fortress. yeah, almost every game has a desert, but what makes the landmark memorable isn't how it looks, but what you associate with it. Wii controls aren't sloppy on their own. The only thing that seems to be hard for the Wii that isn't done too often anyway is it getting closer and farther from the screen, because it cannot sense accelleration in that direction and has to rely on the pointer.

Play Twilight Princess and go though the Cave of Ordeals. There are parts that you have to kill things shooting arrows at you, quickly, because if you're aiming and get hit, you stop aiming and have to start over. It t...

Hype can sell anything, but normally it is short lived. Look at the PS3.

The hype for it created huge lines of people and great sales...for a very small amount of time. When the hype died down, though, sales dropped off.

There's more than just hype to the Wii, and, actually, the Wii wasn't terribly hyped before it was hard to find it for a month (though its first Christmas). Hype may be helping it along now, but obviously there's something more to it than the ...

Brawl will likely help with this. Motion control is a wonderful thing...most of the time. Sometimes, though, it just doesn't work. We know SSBB can work with the GC controller, and we know most people will use it to play the game. Hopefully that will show developers that they don't have to use the motion controls all the time.

You know this for sure?

Paramount was able to give multiple reasons for going HD DVD exclusive without talking about a "bribe," which is more than you can say about the bluray studios, so why not accept that they were as likely to go HD DVD exclusive without a "bribe" as Disney or Fox were to go bluray without a bribe? Then again, I haven't heard any good reason to go bluray exclusive, reasons, sure, but not good ones.

That being said, though...
