So, now, Nintendo finally gets some compitition on its own console. Capcom will easily sell millions with Monster Hunter on the Wii, and they're giving the Wii a game that can stand toe to toe with anything Nintendo can make.
It also appears that Nintendo is earning the favor of Capcom, since they sold more RE4 and Pheonix Wright than expected on the Wii and DS.
I would never deny the success of the PS1 and PS2. Both did very well, but we're looking at right now.
I'm sure they will rebuild, but probably not in time for this gen. Being about 6 million down, the PS3 would have to sell 250k MORE units than the Wii or 360 per month for two years straight to get ahead of either of them. The PSP still doesn't look like anything more than a stronger Game Gear in the handheld market, while the DS may pass the PS2 for more successful console...
I don't know why you think revenue means profit, but it doesn't.
Sony should actually be top, easily, with the PSP and PS3 being so expensive, and the PS2 still bumping it up more.
Now Sony would be second in profit, too, with Nintendo easily getting top just by making a profit, the Sony getting second, by losing less than a billion like MS did.
Sony isn't making more no matter how you look at it, though, because SOny's gaming divion isn't making m...
Nintendo has the cheap consoles for handheld and home consoles both, and they're on top.
This actually may say something about Sony, more than most Sony fanboys would want to say...
MS is close to them with just a home console (but its cheaper), and Nintendo is ahead of them with 1 console less and the cheaper consoles. With 3 consoles, and the PSP and PS3 being the expensive ones (at least the PS2 is cheap, but that should be bumping them up, with the current g...
EA is getting on board too, and though its taking them time to figure out the motion controls, they are trying and will no doubt get a hit.
The Wii could also become something of a cheap computer for developers to use, because production costs are low, but the Wii controller is more like a mouse than anything we've seen before, except the mouse itself. Did anyone ever try to play the GC Starcraft? It was nearly impossible due to not having a pointer.

I can agree with the whole exclusive issue, but, really, it has nothing to do with how many conoles are out there. I have to say I dislike most exclusives, too, though.
However, more consoles actually reduce exclusives. If 250 million consoles are spread over 3 consoles, one console gets you about a 83 million gamers. That's not too bad. If 250 million consoles are spread over 5 consoles, just 2 more, one console gets you 50 million gamers, 33 million FEWER potential buyers...
"1. It has been done with other products in the past, to great success."
So? Is the 360 and PS3 selling so poorly that when MS and Sony tried to do this, they failed? No. It's been done with other products, but I'll need proof to apply it to this one. Why not say every team in the NFL does illegal video taping because the Patrios do? Because we know we cannot apply one example to everything.
"2. This is the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to ...
We've heard this for how long?
"PS3 will win next gen"
"New PS3 with more memory to win the console wars"
"80 GB PS3 will dominate sales"
I can't even keep track of PS3's anymore. They keep getting downgraded, though, it seems, so it's not a console most people are rushing out to get anymore.
As for it selling more, I should hope so. Most sales take place over the next few months. If it...
Interesting comment, but true.
Sony was bragging about future-proofing, and it ended up that it was so future-proof that after a year half of their consoles are discontinued.
Interesting point.
If the ratings weren't such a big deal, no one would really know how brutal the game is and end up not caring.
The only reason it will sell well because of the violence is that the ratings made it need edited, which became big news. Were it not for the censorship in the vido game industry, no one would care about how violent the game is, just like movies are, with no one really caring about how violent a movie that's rated R is.
"the movie business will always get away with more, due to the 'interaction' that a game offers you, unfortunately when jigsaw kills someone its, him, where as if your charactor kills someone its seen, as you. its understandable"
Except most video games normally let you control a person that isn't you. I know it's often seen as "you" killing someone in a video game, but most of the time, anymore (due to voice acting), you don't even get to name your charact...
Wii sales aren't really cooling down, but supply has finally met demand, more or less.
If this is a bad sign, the PS3 and 360 were dead after a week.
When demand is too high for supply, and, finally, supply meets demand, sales will drop. Most companies would love to go though a sales drop like that, but most never have the problem of demand being too high.
Expect sales to go way up again for the holidays, and another major drop afterwards, since d...
"fans of the ps3 are'nt in an uproar over no B/C"
Many were in an uproar about limited backward compatability when MS said the 360 wouldn't play all of the Xbox games. They may not be now, but they were when the PS3 could play any PS or PS2 game.
There's no question a 100 GB game would be amazing...and expensive...
Expensive to the point that its too risky to go for it and sell it at $60 (which is too much for a game anyway) and if it were to be sold at a price to make prodit in the same number of copies, few people would buy it.
Already most developers (keep in mind, most are smaller, though bigger ones make more games) are too scared or too poor to make a game for the PS3, and its not much better for th...
Not really.
Paper Mario has pretty some pretty good plots going for it, and the fact that it would most likely totally lack real people, making the movie more like the game than Super Mario Bros. ever could have hoped for.
No, but people had to buy another PS2 after their first one messed up. I don't think the PS2 is as bad as the 360 (though I had a Sony fanboy disagree with me on this), but it was worse than pretty much anything any other console besides the 360 has done.
I got a PS2 recently, from a friend who got a PS3, and it was his 3rd one. The first two fell to disc read errors, but just so we're clear, I'll explain the order of events.
1. He buys a PS2.
2. PS2 h...
William, I have seen a lot of Sony fanboys, even recently, pick on the 360 for not being fully backward compatable.
However, in DJ's defense, he's not one of them that I recall.
No one wants to be held accountable for what they did not say, even if people in the same group did say it, so go track down the Sony fanboys that did talk bad about the 360 for having multiple SKU's and not being backward compatable, not a Sony fan that didn't say anything about it.
When news came that the Wii had outsold the 360, MS fanboys weren't even saying "wait for Halo." Sony hasn't even had anything taken from it and Sony fanboys are saying "wait...wait...wait...wai t."
While you wait and speculate about the future, the rest of us will live right now, and when the 40 GB comes, and we see the effect it has, we can talk.
I normally like a silent hero. Link and Mario don't talk, and they are amazingly popular franchises, though I don't think anyone would say its a bit akward to see Link standing there, not saying anything after learning some terrible secret.
However, I do hope that more games come to be like Skies of Arcadia. Getting to choose what you, as the hero, says at every turn is great, but I'll never lose my love for the silent heroes, because they are you, more than any hero, since y...
So you didn't get a PS for FF7, because the franchise was moved from the SNES to the PS (which didn't stack up graphicly to the N64)?
Well, there's 2 good games you will end up having missed out on.
