"Their "cultures" are all far too different from each other for it to be a truly successful partnership."
You said it right here. It would be a nightmare for us, but it would never happen. Nintendo wants a console that just plays games, while Sony and MS want all the features more like a PC.
Sony wants expensive cutting edge technology, now, it seems (wasn't that way last gen...), while MS and Nintendo both want to at least offer a weaker co...
Worldwide sales look better for the PS3 compared to the 360, but there is not "but..." on this, just as there is no "but..." for the 360 in Japan.
You have to take what you can where you can, and if there are places you can't, the fact that you're selling well somewhere else is not a mitigating factor in sales in the chosen area.
PS3 has no excuses in NA, and 360 has no excuses in Japan.
The Wu is the oldest, actually.
Then came the Wee.
Finally was the Vii.
Icewake, you can't prove a negative.
Show me what Halo did do that was innovative, as that falls to you. Then the nay sayers can refute your evidence, if it is possible.
In science, you have to prove something works how you say, not that something can't work some way, because it's impossible to prove the negative. In debate, the side that wants to change the status quo must go first, because the side that wants to maintain it can't show why the status quo is en...
Zelda? Well, I suppose if we close our eyes and ignore Wind Waker took place in a massive ocean and had a totally different look, we can say it hasn't done anything new in 9 years.
Mario is somewhat in the same boat, assuming we don't count Luigi's mansion as a "Mario game" and close our eyes to Sunshine...the only two Mario games on the GC.
Maybe you mean Metriod. So long as we ignore the Prime trilogy or ignore the NES/SNES games, it hasn't done any...
High scores like:
Battalion Wars 2 (Wii) - 7.5
Front Mission (DS) - 6.5
MLB Power Pros (Wii) - 6.5
Naruto: Clash Of Ninja Revolution (Wii) - 7.0
WWE Smachdown Vs. Raw 2008 (Wii) - 6.5
Heck, this is a suprisingly low score for Battalion Wars 2 in my book, but there are obviously other low scores here, as well.
There are reasons to look the other way on the PS3.
It's hard and expensive to develop for, and the install base isn't too high.
I don't consider it "using" the Sony any more than I think Square "used" Nintendo. If there are characteristics of a console you don't like, you don't develop some games for it.
If you want someone turning their back on someone else, look at MS turning their back on Sony with the Dreamcast, or the dea...
Did you also know that in the year 2000 every Nintendo console, home or handheld really took control of the market?
Going by the logic of what happened before must keep going, your logic never happened.
It did, but if we're using your logic...
The flood of incoming games that are going to be great make this one secondary for me, as well.
I want it, but there are about 10 games before the end of the year I want.
However, most likely, I'll just wait to get this one until next summer, and buy it in a games drought, because I really want to own it, not just rent it.
If Red Steel (a third party game) could sell a million, imagine what a good game, a really good game, could do.
The 360 has sold a huge amount of games, but the attach rate is already looking like it's nearing the end of its lifecycle (attach rates shouldn't get that high unless people aren't buying consoles much, anymore), and the PS3 has an attach rate lower than the Wii.
Last I saw, the attach rate of the Wii was between 4 and 4.5 (numbers for games and consol...
Hmm, what I would give for a pokemon RPG with DS type graphics and it just have tons of space to be HUGE.
Oh, my, what I would give. It won't be like that, but I would love if it was.
This could be good, though. It's about time a home console got a Pokemon PRG, not just a 3D arena.
Evidently, you've never played Pokemon.
No RPG has had a battle system with as much potential, and no RPG has used the potential in the battle system as well.
Pokemon may be played by kids, but I can assure you only an adult can fully understand and build a great team.
The cries of conspiricy are really getting old.
There is no MS viral marketing, there is no MS conspiricy to take Sony down. If that's what MS wanted, it would be cheaper to buy Sony than to pay thousands of people millions of dollars to take Sony out of the console market.
The problem with the PS3 is that it is, as the saying goes, all the food in the world behind a sufficiently complicated lock. It's not that the PS3 doesn't have the power, and its not that d...
Watch out, they'll start pulling out viral marketing on you, as so many Sony fanboys have pulled out on them.
However, I would think this should frighten the Sony fanboys as much as the MS fanboys, because Sony fanboys always say the 360 is doomed, but the PS3, a system which Sony fanboys think the MS fanboys believe made the 360 (get it, they think the console was made by God, and Sony fanboys think the PS3 is God? Meh, it's never funny when it has to be explained), is on the...
Zach & Wiki and Pheonix Wright for me.
I would get Rachet & Clank, but I can't afford a PS3, anyway, and even less just for that.
"I very much doubt they would put a lot of time trying to get one of these albeit AAA horror type games on there console."
"Horror" is a genre that really doesn't get much attention in games. here are very few games I would consider horror games.
However, even without seeing an in game screenshot yet, Sadness is a pretty darn hyped game, and it turly is a horror game. Nibris even asked if you're 21 or older before reading about it on their s...
I feel sorry for some of my friends who got the 360, too. All they got was Halo 3. I know someone who got a PS3 and only got the free movies that came with it and sold them in a garage sale.
Now, I know other people who got more, but who cares about that? As for me, my Wii collection stands at MP3, Super Paper Mario, Wii Sports, Bleach: Shattered Blade, Mario Party 8, Zelda, Mercury Meltdown Revolution, Monkey Ball, RE4, Trauma Center, and Wario Ware.
Perhaps ...
And the PS3 is outselling the 360 by something like 10,000,000:1 in Japan. Ok, its really like 6:1, and that's standard, not a single month with Halo 3 comming out.
You need to look at the big picture, the world. If you look at the slope of the lines for the most recent months, take away the last month because of the launch of a big title, the 360 is about the same as the PS3. There's not a huge difference in the slopes, and, therefore, not a big difference in the rate of wo...
Speilberg was supposed to be format neutral (perhaps like WB, giving a bit more to one side than the other, but neutral).
So much for him saying that he wanted everyone to be able to enjoy his movies. If that was true, wouldn't he want his movies on both formats, as he said he wanted? Evidently not, since, if you can be an exception for a deal made with the company you work for, you could get anything you wanted, so evidently, he doesn't want people who have HD DVD to enjoy h...
Ahh! Don't remind me of Myst! now I'm going to have to slam my head into a wall until I forget the lost days of hopeless wondering to make sure nothing is stopping me from getting Zack & Wiki.
Myst was seriously annoying, at least to me, but considering the genre hasn't done much since, I wonder if Wii will pick up in popularity even more. My dad and two uncles both love this type of game, and I would be suprised if at none of them considered picking up a Wii just for th...
