I wouldn't call the psp a failure. The only thing it "failed" at was destroying the Nintendo
handheld competition like Sony claimed it would (or could).
When compared to the success of the ds, it was decimated. But what it accomplished on its own couldn't be deemed a failure.
It's not my favorite console, but it is a decent one at the very least. And for some it is and will always be an incredible console. That very fact proves it is not a failur...

It has a few. Alot if you import from Japan. But if you know about both the ds and psp libraries in more detail, the ds has even more, and more importantly, alot of them are really good.
That being said, I'm actually really looking forward to Fate/Extra on PSP this year.

So did the ds.
I'm going through a major rpg marathon this week. And all the games are for the 3ds.
Edit-Ugh, ds. DS. Not 3ds.

No, the Layton series is kind of like ace attorney's investigation parts with puzzles.
Like a visual novel.

I'm thinking the same thing.
Mostly just for the map.
This is the third high quality map for a video game that I know of.

I actually think the two launches are eerily similar.
Quite a few ports and rehashes, seemingly low budget games, and Fighting games up the wazoo.
But realistically, you can't compare the launches in order to measure success. You have to compare Vitas day one launch against Nintendos same day current lineup.
This list illustrates the public feeling of this perfectly.

This guy dosen't seem to understand much about the 3ds at all.
The launch line up was not an arrogant belief that 3d alone would sell the system; it was a false belief that third parties would actually deliver if Nintendo gave them some space.
And while it may just be me, I don't think the slide pad is as sure a sign as many believe of a redesign. I think they will watch it closely, and redesign the system if it gains third party support and consumer acceptance, but no...

I read the first paragraph and stopped.
It sounded like he was bashing jrpgs, and wasn't helping his argument by rehashing all the false stereotypes of the genre right from the get go.

Edit- I also personally believe that there are more Japanese games that are truly "mature" than there are Western games.

There is a BIG difference between used games and piracy. When a company sells a game on a disc, they are selling an item. When someone buys that item, even if it's a company, there wealth BECOMES the item, the physical object they paid for.
The money represents the service one has contributed to society, and when exchanged for a game, used or new, the physical disc containing the game takes the monies place. Ones hardwork and worth to society is represented by that game, just as ...

I don't think piracy is, or should be an issue of morality, but one of economic and social importance.
And remember, if someone pirates a game, there isn't much else they can do but "drive around in it".

Or you can do right by society's expectations of you, and go without the game at all. You will still have 60 bucks to feed your family.

They wouldn't get your money anyway, but our laws and rules have outlined that we shouldn't have their game if they don't get are money.
Buying for cheaper or buying used, however, IS within our society's rules and laws, as we are exchanging numerical "selfworth", the money that ( is supposed to, anyway) represents our contributions to our society, on a free market physical item.
