You do know peta regularly euthanizes animals, don't you?
They also spoofed ( if you can call it that...) cooking mama by turning her into a butcher for featuring cooking of meat/non vegetarian meals.
Because it sold 7 million more than what the uninformed detractors thought it would, it should (help, anyway)disprove the recent stigma attached to dedicated handhelds. That is why it is so important.
The most in history? Maybe not. But I don't think that was the Real point of the article: just hyperbol to pull in readers.
Edit: Think of it this way: How much confidence would these Detractors, investors, and mostly uninformed onlookers had in the vita if the 3...
...really? I need to clarify? Fine...
I'm saying the writer is absolutely right in context to the points he made in the article.
Wether the 3ds is the most important handheld ever is up for debate, and will probably always be, but that isn't what I was commenting on.
It isn't about that. It is the fact that the 3ds did so well that it should disprove the untrue "fact" swirling around the industry that mobile games will usurp the market. The article has the same stance as you.
Did I read the same article everyone else read?
Because the vita isn't out yet, and this is mostly about sales numbers.
Sales numbers that prove dedicated handhelds still have a market, and a future.
At least it didn't take several price cuts and nixing of features.
Although, I figured the price was to high when they first announced it myself.
Good read. And you are absolutely right.
I think the relationship between handhelds and smartphones is actually pretty similar to the relationship between home console and pc.
Of course, pc has a dedicated group and market focusing on "real" games, but that isn't what I mean.
Handheld/console: specialist machine capable of little outside of playing games, most of which are not easily possible on a non dedicated device, at least not easily, that evolves in subset "generations".

If you killed a dying man, did you not kill him? After all, he would be dead anyway, right?
Illegal downloads mean the downloader gains welth, without exchanging his own for it.
Piracy hurts everyone, because people become rich without contributing to society, which overall is poorer because of it.
The only problen I had with the review is pretty similar to the problem I had with 1ups:
The game was scored less for something this website counted as a positive for a different game, which scored higher.
The reviewer can't be blamed for this, seeing as how the two games were reviewed by different people, but it still annoys me.
He complains about the precise motion controls requiring him to learn to play the game as the only major flaw, stating that he would rather randomly swing the remote around to defeat enemies.
This review is crap, to be honest. The only two problems he had were the one mentioned in the header(...seriously?) And the fact that he can't play the game well without, you know, trying to actually play it.
They didn't mention that this past week, upwards of 120,000 3ds were sold along with 340,000 super Mario 3ds land.
That's alot of games without consoles, which points to what analysts in Japan have stated: people that were buying 3ds systems in October were waiting for the big releases, one of which was super Mario.
It dosen't matter what the 3ds launched at. What matters is what it will cost sitting next to the vita on shelves, and what games are sitting next to it.
Edit @AdvanceWarsSgt
It would be so awesome if they made an advance wars game for 3ds. I really hope they do.
To much power can overwhelm a developer with by giving them to many options, and you certainly don't want to overwhelm developers who are already trying to focus on a system they are not yet accustomed to.
Although, I think 2EHOs comment makes more sense and his theory is far more likely to be the actual reason.
Because it is harder and costs more money to develop that way, for one.
It is also harder to downgrade than to upgrade, I would imagine.
So much crap happened around china in ww2, you would think someone would have done something with it by now. And of course, all of the wars leading up to ww2 in spain and italy, to name a few.
Anything pre 2020 has been done to death.
Although, I would hardly call ww2 done to death anymore, especially seeing as so many theatres of the war have never been touched in a video game. (The Italian civil war and the exploits of merrills marauders are two examples.)
You do realize that more people own a psp than a 3ds, right?
With a higher install base, of course a high profile game will sell alot.
Andriasang posted the Mario3 3d sales as well. It sold nearly 3 times more in a single week than all 3ds software in the month of October combined with about 340,000 (rounded to the nearest ten thousandth).
Combining the number 2, 3, and 4 spots beats out super mario 3d by just about 30,000 or so, so this is quite impressive indeed.
You're right. I don't want anyone to die: but I do wish peta would disband or something.
Edit: on topic, video games are awesome( exept peta's mario "spoof".)
