@axel
They have lost money only once in the past 30 years. There were no losses in 2007...
They can take losses like this previous one for decades before being any were near financial ruin, as they have billions of dollars in the bank.
The wii was profitable from day one, while the competition LOST money for years every time they sold a console, so cheaper or not they did make real profit on each one sold. Furthermore, they sold the most consoles this gen and bro...
Just because someone *may* hate Nintendo and spew crap about them in other threads doesn't give you guys the right to troll them everywhere they go...
Lets approach peoples opinions and statements on a case by case basis, please. >.<;
Mkds was my favorite too. And I never really loved mk before that one...(it was okay, just not my thing. Making a game portable is the best way to catch my interest^_^;)
Mk7 for the 3ds is a really fun game, but it lacks the bonus missions of mkds. And freeplay racing against bots(unless I'm missing something, single player racing is TT or GP only.) And while vs balloon battle is still a blast, the fact that there is no KO option is a downer.(matches are timed only in ord...
@thegamingart
It has several great games, and even more so in Japan.
Its most serious competitors are an old Sony handheld with a good deal of market penetration already and a new Sony handheld with far fewer games while being more expensive.
And I would hardly call the hardware crap, as it does what it is supposed to do: play fun games.
Except Nintendo didn't neglect anyone. Since the PlayStation, the media, publishers and "core" gamers started to pay more attention to Sony, along with the then "casual" new gamers they were bringing in.
The gaming world left Nintendo for the market Sony had opened up. A market that would have collapsed had Nintendo not opened it up further with the wii.
They didn't go from making 18 games to 3: they released their 18 games and, as far as we now, are projected to be making 3 more as of now.
The same will happen with the vita by next year: they are establishing a presence on a new console, so they need more games initially.
Sega is just releasing their launch window games for vita, just like with the 3ds in the previous year. They aren't ditching anyone.
That's like saying 5 is less than 2+3: Nintendo already has the support(5) and Sony is next in line to receive an equalizing amount(+3), as it is the newest freshest console.
(The numbers aren't actually representative of the number of titles released. Just randomly chosen numbers to illustrate my thoughts.)
You forgot monster hunter 3g, which has passed 1.5 million in japan alone and continues to sell.
Or harvest moon(Japan), which has seen its highest sales in years on the 3ds.(although, this isn't common knowledge...) And rune factory 4 has seen massive pre orders, which is surprising for a series that sells most of its units through day one non pre order sales.
3rd parties usually do fine on Nintendo systems as long as they make good games. But expecting them to o...
@xursz
They don't interest me, tbh. I own ninja gaiden on the xbox.
If you take out ports from both of your lists, you have more games on the 3ds one. And then there are more 3ds games not on hisiru's list, like ghost recon and doa.
But the vita does have good games, and will have more(gravity daze looks awesome^_^; if/when I get a vita, I'm getting that too.). Just not as many as the 3ds does now.
It won't affect them, and it may actually be helping them financially, as imports from America cost less than other regions and the yen to dollar has been awful on Nintendo.
But it does suck for those of us who may want to import.....-_-;
You don't "need" a second stick (edit: to make good games). And for those that do, you have the cpp
That "weak" stylus support occurs on a second screen that enables usage without obscuring sight of the first and offers better precision. ( try adding this support to the vita via a peripheral...)
Its ignorant and incorrect to call the 3d "enhanced 2d", regardless of your personal opinions about its functionality or effect.
I think they mean software support overall, including big name 3rd parties.
Although I loved the wii lineup personally(1st and 3rd party) it was missing some important multiplatform titles due to its weaker specs.
It has been rumored that Nintendo are making some new IPs for the wiiu.
They have also promised good 3rd party support.
If these hold true, then the wiiu will be more than alright.^_^
I think it this confusion may well be down to the simple fact that this is a Nintendo console, and Nintendo makes their consoles a little.... weird.
Take the 3ds, for example. Obviously weaker than the vita in graphical power, of course. But it has something special: Built in shaders/fogers. What takes the vita a lot of on board resources and energy to create the 3ds has built-in and ready to run without taxing the systems power.(how good these shaders/fogers are I don't ...
@mr mike
Maybe it was the "little old ladies" comment.... ^__^;
I agree and disagree.
I don't think changing its appearance is really "possible"... how many variations of a box are there?
And while the wiiu name seems like a good idea from a marketing perspectives in some ways, it is a double edged sword with its similarities to its predecessor... although, this never hurt the PlayStation brand.
I disagree with the notion that the wiiu will(with absolute certainty) lose 3rd party support once its competitors launch their next consoles. The 3ds is holding and gaining support just fine against the vita. And Nintendo seems to understand that if they don't play their cards right, they will lose that much needed support and are setting things up to ensure that doesn't happen.
The game cube WAS stronger than the ps2, and the only one here spouting fanboy crap is you.
Yeah, the PSP's tech really helped it against the ds's far superior library of incredible games. And the same is happening with the 3ds
For ME and many others, the wii has a far better library than the ps3, but as that is up to preference I'm not going to contest that.
And no, Sony is not the only one releasing high quality games, as all of...
Nintendo pushed the envelope long before Sony entered the scene, and would have continued to do so without them.
Furthermore, seeing as how my ps1 is busted and my ps2 is jacked up but my 64 works just fine, I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't the one making shoddy hardware.
I wouldn't call the wii a fad. A fad burns out in a very short time, not 5 years, and then stops selling completely. The wii is still selling very respectfully considering its position and market penetration.
