As for the article, the wording is poor in the header. It makes it seem as though a sale is proof of something. If that's the case, what abut that vita game that got a pre order discount?

Calling the wiiu "wii 1.5" was foolish enough, without forgetting about the games that will be showcased for it and the 3ds.
This e3, Sony has: a bunch of games, mostly for ps3.
Nintendo: a bunch of games across wiiu and 3ds, new hardware
Microsoft: new content for the xbox 360, a couple of game...
You guys are both forgetting about the 3ds.... it already has an incredible lineup incoming, and it will only get better at e3 according to Nintendo.
I expect the vita to have a similar show as the 3ds did last year(edit: good, but not enough.), with one difference: most of the ps3 games showcased will be on the vita as well.(it wouldn't surprise me if that is Sony's big announcement this year.)
Why does everyone think that all Nintendo will have is hardware? The wiiu will showcase games, and so will the 3ds.
Expect Japanese localizations, Nintendo 1st party games(new and re confirmed) and Western games filling up the 3ds's already stable upcoming lineup. And, being a new console, expect to see a large list of wiiu games as well.

You aren't factoring in the plethora of unannounced Nintendo games or the large Japanese lineup bound to be localized. They have a lot to show on the software side for both the wiiu and the 3ds. This isn't going to just be bout the wiius hardware.
While I think e3 is Nintendos on a personal note, I do know for a fact that Sony vs Nintendo is much closer than many seem to think.
Yes, but I think the depth of the content will be 1st party. 3rd party content will be present in force, just not with great detail.
The respective parties will provide that info; ubisoft will be showcasing and detailing its wiiu support the day before, for instance. Why spend their own conference reshowing what ubisoft has already showcased themselves?
Nintendo has also stated that they need to be a strong presence in order to drive hardware. After the weak 1st part...
Like I said: showing concepts is not the same as lying.
Saying your concepts are real products or representations of actual products, like the star wars kinect crap you just showed off(did anyone really expect that to turn out well at any point?) or the pre rendered killzone vid sony showed at the start of this gen is lying. So there is one point for you.

I don't know... there are like 3 or 4 games that allow for a second stick, and none of them require it.
Unless they really want to push wiiu/3ds connectivity or a crap ton of dual stick games are announced, it really isn't necessary and may actually be more harmful than helpful.
Furthermore, the 3ds is forecast to be profitable starting in or around September. A redesign would increase costs, making this return to profitability less likely.
"At least" means that this level of power is a starting point.
Such a starting point on a quick port/multiplatform game seems to say that the wiiu is pretty capable, not barely capable.
Unless, of course, you would say the ps3 is as powerful as the 360 because they both run CoD the same.
