Exactly. Developers wanted a second stick. If Nintendo wanted it to begin with themselves, it would have been there already.
@ eferreria
I have plenty of great 3rd party games on my Nintendo systems, and unlike the other consoles, I can't buy them for anything else.
But you probably wouldn't believe me, seeing as you only look at what websites like this one show you.
I think they will wait and see how 3rd parties react and utilize the peripheral before determining if it should be integrated in the next revision. Making a new 3DS with a second stick now will upset early buyers, and introduce a feature that may never befully utilized.
I think the conference will focus on software over hardware.
The 3DS has no equal competition at the moment, so how is it losing?
PSP is a last gen console. It started the "race" along time ago, so of course it has an advantage.
More games and alot of people who own an original DS but not a PSP give the PSP, not Sony overall, a temporary advantage. An advantage that will vanish once the Vita releases.
Then the real race will begin, and judging Nintendo will become justifiable as it competes against the Vita.
People who bought a DS but didn't buy the PSP are looking at the PSP' s richer library and cheaper price and are choosing it over the 3DS, at least for the moment.
When Vita launches, expect PSP sales to start decreasing, and 3DS sales to pick up.
ONLY 170? Dear god...
Do you know how much it actually costs to live, and how much money people make?
Only $170 is not much for you, but not everyone is as well off.
William, while the governments changed, the countries are still around....
Also, Nintendo isn't geonocidal or imperialistic. In fact, out of the big companies, they are the least so...
The lack of innovation is also killing the entire industry.
Sony and Microsoft have basically been sharing all the third party games, while all the games on consoles are just slight upgrades of games and genres from last gen with better graphics.
The stagnation of gaming will only get worse unless someone does something, and the truth is that Sony and Microsoft are more interested in killing everyone else off than trying to keep the industry as a whole healthy.
Also...
It's only a PR nightmare because of how everyone is spinning it out of proportion.
Instead of craping all over everything Nintendo does, why don't we wait and see more info before we spread more false speculation and assumptions.
I hope it takes the input as if you were using the gyroscope, so that it is totally optional and compatible with previous games.
I hope it reads input as gyro movement, so games that are controlled with the gyroscope are compatible with it. That would be the best solution, because then it becomes a completely optional peripheral, and not a mandatory one.
It sounds like monster hunter will play without it just fine, so I hope that's a sign of it's intended use and means of operation.
Does it matter if it will fit in your pockets when the thumb sticks slide and wear out against the sides?
It amazes me that the lack of a second slide pad and the solution to this problem outweighs the horrible design flaw of leaving a giant screen and extended thumb sticks completely unprotected without the purchase of a special pouch.
The 3DS will be fine. It's only real problem is that everyone in the game media seems to want to kill it.
Monster Hunter 3DS, please be real...
They did realize this, and it is my beleif this change was part of their overall plan all along.
The major problem I think is alot of people want Nintendo to fail.
The truth is, Nintendo is doing just fine, and I believe they will be fine in the long run as well.
Of course, if all you've been paying attention to is the recent wave of Nintendo hate articles, then of course you would think they are going to tank.
What Vita version?
Even if that is the case, it will help balance out the "pro Vita" sites that always bad mouth the 3DS.
Everything needs balance.
Good answer. I feel the same, but in favor of 3DS.
Just because I'm personally uninterested in what the Vita looks to provide so far, I understand that are, and respect that.
Well said bubble+
@UltimateIdiot
Piracy had very little to do with it. Nintendo also had really bad piracy issues, and they did just fine. Lack of games hurt the PSP in America, which is not a problem in Japan.
Why? Your not expecting it to crash and burn are you?
With the holiday release lineup looking strong, it's understandable to wait until then to make solid judgement either way, but you seem kinda sinister in your comment....
