That's funny I think the exact opposite is what is needed. Release the game with all the content included, no paywalls, no microtransactions. Unlock things through gameplay.

In other words release a full game, not bits and pieces of a game then gouge you fanbase for every unlockable character, weapon, or skin.

I want to play this (great art style) but from what I've seen this game is known for insanely expoitative paywalls and microtransactions.

You can pay up to $60 to unlock a single character and in game currency is given out sparingly to force you to pay real $ for everything.

Bit ironic that they are against loot boxes but have filled the game with every other greedy, anti-consumer practice available.

GOW is awesome but I'm pretty sure RDR2 is going to be next level.

While I am a huge fan of the Witcher 3 it came out right around Bloodborne so no it was not an easy decision that year ;)

The author is right it was an easy decision. Horizon Zero Dawn was GOTY.

I love games. That said, games as a service are just corporate greed running rampant. They are purposely making those games addictive (using intermittent rewards, loot crates, daily log in bonuses, and various other strategies) and targeting the young or naive to get them hooked. It is exploitative and most people are unaware it is happening.

I don't think the reaction was knee-jerk. CDPR announced the game very early, set up massive expectations for a single player RPG and touted character customisation as a key feature. Naturally many people were thus expecting a 3rd person game.

They they went on to announce it as a first person game shattering those expectations. It is very easy to see why there was disappointment/backlash. Unless it is a MP game where others see your character a first person perspective...

Has that been officially confirmed?

Perhaps the flying cars are all automated to minimise risk, avoid human error, or reckless driving?

@@BiggerBoss Schizophrenia is a mental illness. Too much gaming or television or phone use or gambling is a behavioural problem. There is a difference. One revolves around choice and self-control the other does not.

@Goldby
And excessive eating to the point it has a negative impact on your life is an eating addiction? If so you have just pathologists half of the western world. Do you see what I'm getting at?

I'm not sure why there is a need to pathologise everything. It is not an illness. It is a behavioural problem. At most the term behavioural disorder perhaps but not an illness. Similar to gambling problems, again not an illness.

I think there will be a Ciri based mission which would be awesome.

The more I see the more this reminds me of Judge Dredd. They are even refering to Night City as a mega city in the promotional material. Ricocheting bullets? Check. Apartment blocks so large they function as self contained microcosms within the city? Check. Themed gangs? Check. The list goes on.

Yep it is a let down to say the least. I'm disappointed but am sure it will still be a good game.

Probably my most anticipated game since the original announcement trailer.

Deinitely some Judge Dredd vibes. Good...good.

This is one of the most on point reviews I have seen for Vampyr. I concur.

Eating rats is frankly hilarious. Love the disgusted comments he makes.

Also turning to mist/teleporting never gets old.

I like all of Dontnod's games and have had my eye on this since it was announced. I'm also a huge vampire fan so this is my cup of tea.

The game has flaws but I can easily overlook them because the story/characters are gripping and the setting is so atmospheric. It is slow paced but in a good way.

I think if you liked Remember Me and like the themes (1918 London, Vampires, Morals/choices) you will find this game very worthwhile. I love it so far....

It really quite interesting as the people who write these ridiculous articles are the exact people who would form the anti-android, human-first type mobs in the game.

As Einstein said: Two things are infinite, the Universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the Universe.
