Legendary comment. Thumbs up.
"Good enough for Games Pass" is going to be the cancer of the industry in a year's time.
First red flag, calling this game "good"
Second red flag, the industry or media trying to coin "game pass titles" or "good enough for game pass"
Congratulations, you're devaluing the golden service offering that Microsoft is building its entire platform on. If this is the acceptable standard of IP on Games Pass then why is this service a core offering and not a supplementary offering like PlayStation Extra?
That's poor. You only have two dignified choices here. Pull it from stores like Cyberpunk and Batman: Arkham Knight on PC once did, and rework it and then re-release it. Since that won't happen, admit you botched this and move on with an actual vested interest in the IP of the studios you bought over. If you buy them, you're responsible for them, or didn't Microsoft learn that from business school?
Fixing bugs and frame rate won't magically fix this gam...
@rlow1 Actually more like someone shouldn't tell us that an unfinished, buggy, content thin game with weak gameplay isn't as bad as reception suggests. Liking or enjoying a game has nothing to do with its critical reception or its quality standard. Especially if it's from a studio that has been known for quality games.
Don't hide behind "opinions". We all know opinions are free, you can like or dislike whatever you want. I like Batman v Superman de...
I hate this line of thinking, it's a common weak defence of bad or mediocre games. A game doesn't magically become quality or good because it's "fun with friends". Anything can be fun with friends! I've watched bad movies that were a blast because of the right crowd. That isn't an achievement. A game's inherent best features should be enhanced by additional players, but a few laughs with friends shouldn't suddenly excuse or salvage a bad game.
It's definitely social commentary, Eidolon. You should read the "themes and analysis" section of the Wikipedia page for MGS2: Sons of Liberty for a start! Game was heavy on this.
All that was literally the themes and core story of each game, so not surprising he learned that from MGS. Metal Gear Solid 2 in particular is so relevant today, it was more than a decade ahead of its time and a work of genius. Kojima saw what the digital future was going to become when it was in its infancy. Even MGS 5 despite being unfinished and less of a traditional Metal Gear Solid game with regards to story, had a fair bit to say about language and control over it that is relevant today...
Why would anyone outside of Microsoft ever think it was the future?
The biggest frustration for me is the blind loyalists cheering this acquisition instead of Microsoft investing millions into actual games. Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda and Activision will do NOTHING to improve their games or lead to the creation of new games, as past overwhelming evidence has suggested. In fact all it led to was cancellation of PS5 versions of games, like Redfall, Starfield etc.
Consumers would only benefit in terms of Games Pass, which would mak...
This isn't even clickbait. It's just proof that opinions can be invalid.
I find this is mostly just laziness to delete and redownload games. How many games can you actually play at the same time? Why not just finish a game or play one or two dedicated multiplayer games rather than have 7 games installed and played for 10 minutes each?
But I thought everybody was being mean to poor, struggling Microsoft and they needed this deal to be able to compete. Guess MS is dead now? Unless they're *gasp* forced to invest in a game.
I agree DarXyde. I have two controllers and I've never had an issue with battery while having shorter gaming sessions and rotating controllers. Even with a single controller, I usually had 2 or 3 sessions before needing to charge. I usually played from like 10pm at night to 2am in the morning. I can't relate to the battery issues either, but I get it for those who play for extended periods of time in one go.
I can't believe that anybody in this day and age can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. I thought this myth died in the 2013 era. You don't even need a shred of technical knowledge, you just need to look at any comparison video. A stable 30 can be fine to play on, but why judge people who want a better experience?
I ONLY play performance modes on all games on PS5. On PC, I play between 60 to 120fps depending on the game.
Yeah you're absolutely right, I was being liberal with the word free. My point was, you're paying for a subscription where the platform holder, like Netflix, Sony, MS etc. gets to decide what goes on there as accessible and when it goes away, so I don't get the complaint at all about Spider-Man going off the service. It's a five year old game. It's been on dozens of sales. If you don't own it by now, you probably weren't interested in owning it and shouldn't cr...
You're crying that you can't have a 5 year old game for free anymore? Why not just buy it on one of the many, many sales it's been on? You're on a subscription service, so you're going to be at the mercy of whatever they decide should be free on it. That's how they all work.
If you want to go after a bad practice of Sony's, rather go after the convoluted way you get PS4 versions of games via PS Plus but no access to the free PS5 editions, like in...
Did 9 people miss _SilverHawk_'s obvious sarcasm? Haha!
@crazyCoconuts I'm sorry but price and hours of content has very little to do with quality. I'd gladly pay full price for the 9 hour Resident Evil 2 remake compared to the 900 hour Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This myth that every game needs to become your second job needs to end - irony being these very same people then cry about backlogs they can't overcome. Quality hours > busy work.
That said, long games are great too. Point is hours by itself does not...
@gangsta_red
Those are fine questions, and my response would involve a few points:
1) Browsing Games Pass, there are some quality games on it for sure, like Persona 5 Royal. But Games Pass had nothing to do with the creation of these games. Games Pass merely pays developers to put games on the service. Perhaps that stack of money is worthwhile. Perhaps not. But I have my sincere doubts it will lead to organic growth of these studios. Look at Insomniac Games 5 years...
I've had Games Pass one or two months on my PC. I'm primarily a PS5 and PC player. I just don't believe that "game pass subs" is the best thing for quality games in the industry. I believe first party investment and organic studio growth like Sony and Nintendo, or even companies like Valve and GOG, is the best thing for the industry.
Games Pass only really serves games that would otherwise fade into obscurity.
Take God of War. Do you...
This is totally a defeatist mentality!! What happened when the Xbox 360 released a year ahead of PS3, was cheaper AND had all the games to go for it? Did Sony say "sorry, we lost the generation at the crucial point", no, they scored exclusives and/or developed quality games like Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, Uncharted, The Last Of Us, Little Big Planet, Infamous and many others to win over consumers to their console. They refined the console with an upgraded look and...
