@trollimite
While this one article sees the price drop as a good thing (and any sane person would agree), it's inevitable that an article bearing a similar title but "arguing" why it won't work will show up.
Not only that, but you've got the:
"Sony's Desperate attempt to (fill in blank)"
"Price Drop and new model? Why this move means Sony's in trouble"
"Despite Price Drop, PS3 still more expensive"
I think I read the 160gb would be dropped to $399.
But I could be mistaken.
IMO, it doesn't really matter that the Slim and current models will be the same price b/c 90% of the general public (i.e. the ones who don't frequent the various VG websites) will see the new $299 price tag and that'll be enough for them. It's a fact that your average shopper isn't looking for value--just a lower price.
So the fact the Slim is coming may be incidental to their decision to purchase a PS3.
Translation:
"We're gonna milk these babies for all their worth. So look out for 11 new COD games by 2011, and 26 new Guitar Hero spin-offs by late 2010.
It's the same exact games you loved all the previous times. But now with new fonts and background art on the boxes--not to mention a crazy new, and HIGHER, price tag for each game. That's innovation you can believe in."
Looks about as good as every Tenchu game released so far.

Morrowind had the same bugs found in both of Bethesda's current gen releases--specifically the random crashes and freezes when you went from the menus to the game and general in-game bugs that would cause massive frame rate issues and/or out right crashes.
When it worked, it worked wonderfully. But sometimes you'd look at it funny and it would crash. The GOTY edition fixed a lot of the issues, but the first releases were f'ed up. They've gotten better with the full games this ge...
I really like this game. If I would have known MS was not going to add it to the xbox originals backwards compatibility, I wouldn't have gotten rid of my original xbox.
Sure it had some game crashing flaws, but had this game been released on the PS3 or 360 patches could have fixed it right up. Hell, if Oblivion or Fallout would have released last gen, they would have been tore up in the reviews due to game crashing bugs.
As many have stated:
They count games from August-August.
NOT January-January.
It's the same reason Halo 3 won GOTY last year, even though it was released in Sept. the following year.
It's a $79 million difference.
Which is not that big a gap.
sigh..
did any of you actually bother to follow the story?
1. nanomachines played a part from the beginning of the "Solid" series. Their importance for military applications (which is what 4 was about), is explained by Otacon when first rescued by Snake. By Naomi in the same game. And then again my Emma in number 2.
2. Vamp's childhood trauma, i.e being impaled by the cross, and him being infused with nanomachines are two different events. The ...
What it sounds like, piecing all the rumors together, is a temporary price cut...similar to the one MS had last year (before their permanent one)...to clear the channel for another PS3 model (possibly Slim).
But the real question is whether or not the Slim (assuming it's coming) will be party to the cut or be priced at the current price?
With Sony's track record on these things, the announcement could go like this:
"We're proud to announce a PS3 pri...
You don't have to believe anything. The proof that the visuals have been downgraded is right in front of you.
Now, those making claims about the reasons WHY they are downgraded may be jumping the gun.
But the fact is--the visuals took a big hit.
So basically it'll be Sonya from MK vs. DC?
Actually, only the 360 and Wii's are shipped.
The Ps3 numbers are sold to consumers. As per the article and Sony's own financial sheet. They very publicly stated, over a year ago, that they were only counting sold rather than shipped. And that that any numbers released were "sold" units.
Now, that's not to say they don't count shipped, especially for internal data review. But any number released is "sold" numbers.
If they were shippe...
It's either 30.8 million or 31 million.
But those are shipped numbers, i.e. "Sold" to retail.
Only MS knows the actual sold to consumer numbers.
But I wouldn't be surprised if the actual sold to consumer numbers are in the 27-28 million range.
2009s been great so far. At least for me.
Killzone 2
Infamous
Street Fighter IV
Resident Evil 5
Red Faction
Ghostbusters
MLB 09
And you've still got:
Uncharted 2
Halo ODST
GTA DLC Disk
Assassin's Creed 2
Rachet and Clank
Dragon Age: Origins
COD MW2
Brutal Legends
As some one who works full time, I appreciate the fact that not everything is releasing at once. Heck, ...
Hey! Way to not even read or cite the rest of the quote.
*thumbs up*
@creeping
The difference is that MS had three price cuts over the span of 14 months.
1. August 2007
2. July 2008
3. Sept 2008
The last two within 3 months of each other. And, up until the last one, the PS3 was outselling the 360 on a YTD basis.
Heck, we kill women and mentally ill people in Texas.
Putting a teenager on death row wouldn't even cause the state media outlets to flinch.
