Dont need a monster PC to out do a console. Monster PCs from 2007 easily out did consoles. Today in 2011 a 400-500usd PC will out perform the monster PC from 2007. While consoles have stayed stagnant. Hence to out do the console experience can be done very cheaply on PC. In fact a 400-500usd machine of today will play most games maxed out at 1080p.

Actually console gaming is alot more expensive then PC gaming this is due to high prices of games on consoles.

Pc can be flexible, it can be either very cheap or it can be expensive depends on your gaming taste.

Guess where the consoles get their next gen tech from? Yep if PC wasnt for gaming then why do you think companies develop such hardware for it? which is later moved down the consoles?

"So fluid and smooth at 60 frames per second"

Only on console, On PC every FPS run at 60fps+ even on entry to mid range hardware.

Why would i want to pay 60usd for new maps for an old game? Sorry got better games to play on my list.

@trohpywhore

A little heads up for you. PS3 has currently sold 50million units.

Steam was at 30million i 2010 jan. Might be close to 40million by now.

Now imagine few years from now PS4 will be out. PS3 will be irrelevent then, PS4 will start from a base from 0. Steam by then will proabably be 50million+. Consoles by nature will never catch up with Steam just wait and watch, because Steam only grows while console bases reset every 6-10years. ...

Congrats to Steam. Things will only get better. They have indeed grown tremendously. It was just a year ago when only 2.5million concurrent users used to be online, those are some execellent growth figures.

Why the emphasis on the Trophies?

You dont even know if they will carry forward to the next playstation. Hell you dont even know if all those overpriced games you buy on the PS3 will work with the PS4? or will Sony rather decide to charge you for HD remakes.

Imo what you do have a clue about is how much you will be saving over a period of time. Dunno about you but i would rather save 400-500usd a year in exchange for a bunch of virtual trophies.

lol to beat a PS3 you only need a 500usd PC(even that would a way overkill). With every game being cheaper that small 250usd difference wont last long :)

The initial cost difference is just a method to lure you in to buying almost every game at a higher cost.

Remember that same 500usd PC will do alot more then just play games.

As i posted below you could literally own a 1000usd rig for free just buy saving on games in a period of 1-2 years.

Been saying it all the while, console gaming is expensive. With almost every game getting released cheaper on PC and being superior its definetly the platform to own for majority of the releases.

Infact PC gaming can be so much cheaper with a year or so of buying games on PC you could literally save upto a 1000usd or even more depending on how much you game. Your rig could literally be funded with the money saved on buying games.

@gaffyh

Exactly thats my point, when they dont mind overlooking the fact that they are playing the game itself at lower settings and arent playing large battles. Does it really matter if another version is 2-3 discs? PS3 gamers make it look like its a huge issue and a reason to be picking the PS3 version.

5269d ago 11 agree12 disagreeView comment

Funny PS3 gamers seem to care so much about how many disks the game is on. Yet they dont seem to care which version will look better, which clearly will be the PC version.

Why is it when the PC version gets discussed the same crowd will say oh better graphics, fps and more players wont effect gameplay. Yet they will nitpick over petty issues like how many disks the game is on lol.

PS3 gamers on this site can be a bunch of hypocrites.

Do you have vehicles in Crysis 2?, can you fly jets in Crysis 2 mp, where is the destructable and large environment from Crysis 1?

Crysis 2 is more of a corridor shooter built around 6 year old tech limitations. There yet isnt a game on console after 5 years old launch that can even begin to start matching the original crysis.

Sorry but when PC exclusives go multiplat they get dumbed down.

Its cool Crytek learned it the hard way, Crysis 2 di...

Yea but I got the game for 40usd of Steam, why pay 60usd when i will only be using the PC version since its superior anyways. Not going to touch the PS3 version if i already have a PC version rather save 20 bucks :)

Looks like grand master Kotick can forget seeing the sales potential too. Not buying any more Activision titles.

Not bad for a handheld, afew more releases and they probably will catch up. Only issue being they dont have any true game support, niether do they have any good control mechanics (no buttons).

It would be cool if official bluetooth controllers were released for these devices, i think most of them already do have HDMI ports.

A good controller + HDMI port and the only missing link would be the software. If companies like EA and Activision started porting their ...

You could replace the GPU with 6950 CF.

6970 costs 370usd
6950 CF will cost you 450usd

You will spend about 80 usd more but end up getting 2x the performance.

Also remember the 6950 is actually a 6970, its just been downclocked to compete in a lower segment. 6950 is currently the best bang for the buck you can get.

get 2 of those OC them to 6970 speeds, and you have performance 2x of what you were thinking just for 8...

"really 60 percent goes to EA. 20 goes to retail and another 20 to system maker"

Dont think any retailer will work less then 30% - 40% mate. 20% to the system maker. thats already 60% combined. Now add in the fact that not everything shipped to retail is sold. A good bunch may just be laying on shelves then sent back to the publisher, there may even be damages(none of this exists on a digital platform). In the end its hard to see the Publisher getting more then 25%....

Any gaming build should invest more on the GPU, its a mistake people typcally make. They go overboard on the CPU etc ignoring the GPU then complain why the system wont perform.

I personally feel 6770 is a bit weak for that sort of setup, 6850 is atleast 2x as powerful as the 6770 and for the small price difference i would highly recommend 6850 is a much better option.

I would disagree with the 600usd build as the GPU is too weak.

Tomshardware instead has a 500usd build which is better overall:
