Of course they will, they will block people from playing PS3 and Xbox 360 games.
How else will they sell HD remakes and cause people to buy new games.
@below
BC = Used games too :P
They would rather want ppl bought more copies of the game and played over lan or interent. Splitscreen to some extent defeats that purpose. This is the reason why many games now are lacking splitscreen.
You could add Batman AC to that list, Imo batman was one of last years best games.
Naa it hasnt.
Steam discounts say hi, lol.
Most of the new games are on discount in a matter of few weeks. I think gaming has never been cheaper.
Plus since the industry is on a halt in terms of graphics improvements since the last 4-5years, there really isnt a need to upgrade hardware either. So yea gaming couldnt ever have been cheaper.
Considering GTA 4 was already only running below 720p on the consoles, and barely had any AA. You possibly cant expect more from 6 year old hardware.
GTA 4 on PS3 was running in 540p (i am not sure though), most of the time the frame rate was ranging between 20-25fps. With those number we cant possibly expect a graphics jump on such old hardware.
Cant wait for the Tombraider Reboot, PC version will be amazing.
Funny console gamers tend to make such issues over number of disks and disk read times. Yet they are fine with sub 30fps, sub hd graphics(on most rockstar games).
The last one had very poor performance on consoles. I would be careful getting a Piranha Bytes game on console.
I personally played Risen 1 on the PC and enjoyed it. Though the final boss battle was a disappointment, otherwise it was a fine game. Ill definetly be looking to buy this on the PC.
Personally i dont care about graphics when it comes to Blizzard games. What i do care about is complexity and fun to play.
I still play a ton of Warcraft 3 and Dota. As of late what i have been seeing is that Blizzard has been dumbing their games down to reach a wider audience. I think its the Activision effect.
I hope they wont be dumbing Diablo down just like what they did with Wow. Though with rumors of a console launch i think that is exactly what may...
@shinmaster
Yes there are 60usd games on steam too, but lets not be blinded, those games are from Lolvision. The same people that have sucked the console community dry.
Also Steam isnt the only online DD store, there are many other places to get games alot cheaper.
You are missing out on PC games too, if you dont have a PC, so dont pretend you will miss out on games if you dont own consoles it works both ways.. Not to mention all old cl...
I think console gamers fail to calculate all the extra they pay on buying games on console. PC versions are much cheaper.
The initial investment to get a console maybe 300usd (360usd + reoccuring 60usd every year for the XBox because its pointless without online), however later on the games are so much expensive PC easily becomes cheaper in the long run. Even paying 300-400usd more for a PC makes more sense than getting a console, because with console you are completely at ...
@dragonknight
You do have a point there, I wouldnt exactly call PC gaming a niche there are ton of people playing on that platform. Steam alone has about 4 million people online most of the time. Which is a darn good number. So its not exactly a niche, but yea it does have a cult following.
The good thing about PC gaming, is that since most of us are so intune with what happens in the industry we tend to stick together. Ever heard of a console gamers stic...
@bladesfist
So does the retailer, whats your point?
If i recall Rage had the worst case of texture pop in on any platform. If looked closely the textures were low res even on the PC version, specially when you walked closely to any object. Things look fine in the distance, however upclose its all low res.
Also Rage never had MP with lot of people.
Decrypt asked me to post this link:
http://www.bloomberg.com/ne...
Decrypt made an error in his post, Sony was actually valued at 200B Usd in 2000. Today they are at 20B USD, Hence the numbers are actually alot worse than what Decrypt initially posted.
"Hirai is scheduled to elaborate on his management...
I personally think the developers are somewhat to blame. This is because they have run out of idea. Most of the games they release are pretty much rehashes of the same old stuff.
Now the question is why have they run out of ideas? The answer is simple GREED. I think fresh ideas have many times come from the gaming community. With the current generation of consoles what has happened is that the gaming community has been shackled, user freedom has been taken away. This has all ...
I think you pretty much dont have a clue about PC gaming if you think Half life was the last great PC single player experience.
Infact PC covers all of the genres that consoles cover, However PC goes the distance provides the user with genres consoles have no reply too.
Anyways for recent great single player experiences check out:
Witcher 2, Shogun 2, Starcraft 2, Metro 2033
Looks like console makers and devs are doing everything in their power to screw console gamers over.
They took an initial step this gen just to test the waters. They did stuff that generally should be free or should be developed by the community:
Pay to go online (should be free)
Lock out mods, charge for DLC instead (mods were locked out so people couldnt make stuff like maps, skins etc. PS3 proved it with UT that this could be done. However...
@Jamaicangmr
Honestly you dont see a difference between a yearly refresh and being locked down to 6 year old hardware.
I bet most PC gamers who upgraded to a GTX 560 or HD 6870+ probably wont be dishing out money for another upgrade so soon. Its not like they are desperately waiting for an upgrade.
They are developing the game for hardware from 2005. Its not their fault the hardware is outdated and they want their game to run at 60fps.
They can either:
1. Make the game look crap and run 60fps
2. Make it look better run at 30fps
They choose the first option.
