Just get a PC and be done with it lol. Despite how equipped consoles get, devs will want to push graphics and when that happens consoles will be back to 720p 30fps. This is because most people dont even know about 1080p and most are used to 30fps gameplay anyways.

Try playing Farcry 3, Crysis(any in the series), Skyrim, Dragon age, BF3 and then tell us how well its held up lol.

As of this moment PS4 is Vaporware except the controller that is. Until Sony doesnt release it and announces a price for it, no one can get their hands on it.
Also why do you feel the need to compare the PS4 with a GTX 680? Everyone knows GTX 680 is atleast 2 times more powerful than all the PS4 hardware combined.

1. Not able to play old games, easily out does any 100-200usd saved on hardware
2. Steam Install, Play
3. HTPC (full freedom to use it as you like, its the ultimate media hub no console is any match).
What happens when a game like Skyrim, COD, Fallout, Farcry 3 releases on the PS4 and you have bad frame rates and the devs arent doing anything about it. You are stuck with no options.
Atleast on the PC you have the community making patches and fixes or you can upgrade to more powerful hardware to play the game. With console you are just stuck with your hands tied behind your back.

How so? Sony literally blew Billions in research for the PS3.
The Cell for its time was def ahead of a low performance, power saving tablet CPU.
RSX was ahead of its time in comparison to the 7850-7870 Mobile GPU on the PS4.
Sony isn't introducing any new media format this time around. Hence its plain old bluray.

How are Skyrim, Farcry 3, Crysis 3, BF 3 running on PS3? all of them Lag and there is nothing you can do about it.
At least on PC the community comes out with patches and you can upgrade hardware too. With console you are stuck.

Remember when console gamers were promised PS3 is 1080 Capable everyone was they will be getting 1080p gaming at 60fps.
People chanted the same things, No OS overhead blah blah.
Once the games started rolling in it was realized most of them are 720p or even Below and most barely ran at 30fps. Specially games in recent years have run at horribly low FPS of 15-25fps.

The more important question is how many games will the PS4 support in 3D?
PS3 had 3D support as a marketing check mark. It hardly supported more than 30 3D games.
Meanwhile PC on the other hand supports more than 600 3D games.
Once again console makers promise more and deliver less. Ill wait and see how many games the PS4 supports in 3D, until then this is all hype.

No amount of optimization could save the 2 of those from the 8800GTX. History has a way of repeating itself.

Check Hardocps driver comparison for the past year. Nvidia had more games running better at launch than AMD did.
Infact AMD has been crap for crossfire performance last year. With every other game getting drivers months later.
Nothing they can do about Latency even if the stuff is low resolution. Latency is how fast your Machine can talk to their servers, nothing they can do can speed things up if your connection is too far or crappy. The latency will always be there.

The 8Gigs of RAM is more of a marketing stunt. Ms had it so Sony decided to include that since RAM is cheap and people tend to see these figures. As to a lay man RAM can mean alot when deciding on hardware.
Its a known fact even today most PC games barely consume 1.5Gigs of VRAM even when running at 1080p.
