No,of course they're not trying to cheese off gamers. They're trying to grab more of their money and funnel it toward their own ends, and no matter the creative medium, it spells disaster. If you want creativity, you have to be willing to keep your money from the corporations and give it to those who aren't around to make huge profits; if you don't mind the lack of innovation in Madden, then you're right where you want to be.
I got some hands on time with the 360 version at GDC, and it looked great. Can't say the same for the cinematic running on the PS3, though... I hope they get that up to speed before release.
Big companies eating up little studios is what put the industry in the rut it's in now... better to leave publishing to big companies and the development to the little guys, imo.
... on X-Play look amazing. I honestly didn't expect this game to be anything special, but that opinion is changing quickly. Here's hoping ;)
Kinda surprised the Godfather didn't make it on that list, considering how exact a clone it is of the GTA model. Good list, though.
... to sift through the bull spun out by all the interested parties. It's even worse when the item in question is the biggest game of, well, the decade.
... E3 is the only way for the little guys to get their feet in the door. Cutting off E3 will only make the industry more stale.
... I pay for maps is if they offer more to me as a player. I like how Warhawk includes new vehicles for the new maps, as well as options to use the new vehicles in the old maps.
I was wondering when this tech was gonna make its way to consumer electronics.
... that I am surprised to see Halo2 on there. Grats to Bungie on making a little history.
Those would be some expensive hookers...
... but Blizzard is tripping if they think it's gonna last much longer. The pack has caught scent of the killing they're making in the MMO leagues and they'll be damned if Blizzard gets the whole thing.
I think you need to look harder.
Way to miss the point, bro.
That's... a really good idea. Let people use them as (perhaps inflated) currency to buy furniture/clothing/items in Home, or better yet, PSN games. Hell, they could even add Accomplishments to Folding@Home and increase the output ten-fold. MSFT may have started it, but Sony has every chance to make their offering that much better. Here's hoping ;)
Keep in mind, though, that the skill points in all games previous to the implementation of Achievements mean nothing outside of the game itself. Achievements are added to a broader framework, and *that* is what makes that system different... and, IMO, better than simple skill points. Sony is wise to jump on that bandwagon.
No vagueness there, everything is pretty clear.
You're right, mostly. GDC is for developers, to learn and to do business, and if press doesn't get in the way of that, why keep them out? No one is required to give out info at a conference like this, but they do anyway. Why? Because it's free publicity and advertising, for companies big and small.
If no one but big news outlets get let in, small studios and companies will stop coming. Prices will likely skyrocket, and GDC could shrink to a very small size. Is that a proble...

Yeah, that's five. Oh, and who the crap disagreed with you?
